A few interesting articles on those that we expect to make up our new coaching team. I know that some will have concerns about relative inexperience, but I think all offer something different from the traditional coaching methods that we are used to, with a much greater emphasis on youth development as well as looking at a more holistic approach to player welfare and performance being aligned.
I particularly like the fact that Dr Ryland Morgans has that coaching experience alongside his expertise in the science behind performance and fitness. We have had issues in the past with players picking up secondary injuries or being brought back into the team too quickly, which implies that there was a disconnect between the medical/fitness team and the manager/coaching team. Having Ryland involved should hopefully help prevent some of this and mean that we get more from what we have.
I'm also looking forward to seeing more progression from our youth teams into the first team, or whether we can start to attract other younger players into the club with a pathway to the first team. It's something that hasn't quiet worked so far, despite some very promising young lads coming through. There was talking about the cost of youth development, but if we get this right it can be hugely beneficial and help us to become much more sustainable as a club.
