Can’t recall losing 0-4 in the first game before, but I do think we were up against one of the favourites for promotion. If we can get a Ricky ahomes may well be different
I think more important than the three points lost is the massive blow to our confidence and self-belief.It's only 3 points...
Roll on next week.
I don’t think the team and management will be panicking as much as some fans, they will learn and hopefully move on, will the fans.I think more important than the three points lost is the massive blow to our confidence and self-belief.
Or I’ll be positive: it was the wake-up call the team (and the supporters) needed. At the moment we’re really not that good, and need improving. If Robinson didn’t know that, he does now.
I agree. Some of the score predictions on the match thread before the match were in cloud cuckoo land.I don’t think the team and management will be panicking as much as some fans, they will learn and hopefully move on, will the fans.
Are you a secret Shrimper?Stuck in deepest Essex today, so will have to rely on the forum and goal alerts. Coyy
Was just looking on Rageonline - in August 1979, we lost our first game of the season 5-1. At home. To Reading. It was only in the League Cup, but that competition also meant more then!
So the worst opening day scoreline for forty years (although taking everything into account, 3-0 at Barrow was probably worse.......)
I will reserve judgment until we’ve played around 10 games. We were top after 2 games last season and some of us got carried away but look at how that one panned out. A right old beating but a reality check for everyone I think.
Yeah - must say my experience of Barnsley fans is that they aren’t a pleasant bunch at all. Classic gobby, cocky, Yorkshire fans.

Can I be the first to say......................
"Its a marathon not a sprint"
"Nobody wins titles in August"
"Don`t worry until Christmas"
Thank you.
There is some truth in that though, but you could say that about most of the other teams as well.Have we had something about "Time to gel" yet too?

But not Barnsley
