Home Match Day Thread 31/01/2026 - MDT: Oxford United v Birmingham City

Charlton profiting from a fortuitously-timed red card again. Annoying they’ll get another three points - but they’re in the muck still. And them winning does continue to drag Leicester into it too.

Unfortunately as we’re starting from further behind, we need to keep picking up points ourselves. And our next three fixtures are so tough in that regard.

Concussion injury in training per Radio Oxford - protocols being followed, may be OK for Sheff Utd away on Tuesday.

Also the Luton defender has now signed for us on loan apparently.
We’re getting quite a decent squad together with an excellent window likely now.
Hoping we can shot of Dembele for money along with Bradshaw.

From that lineup what I expect to see today (apologising in advance for doom and gloom):

Our issues passing out from the back exacerbated by Brown's especially poor distribution at full back.

MPH falling into the trap (if he is indeed playing centrally) of us struggling to get that position into game this season, especially when Harris is leading the line and not offering anything as a hold up/bring others into play option.

Phillips legs being gone, his decision making being poor and off the ball finding himself not closing off passing lanes or pressing closely enough

Brannagan without BDK not offering an outlet for the back four for an easy penetrative pass, instead dropping deep and (not always unwisely) looking for a long diagonal to Mills.

What I HOPE to see is the reason why I'm not a football manager, and us instead putting in a follow up performance from the Leicester game we can be proud of and steps towards our safety. Whatever happens YELLOWS!
