Get a grip! It's one win, a very good win and big performance, but still just one win amongst a lot of bad results and awful performances.
Rowett and the players deserve praise for TODAY'S result, but let's not pretend the previous s**t show's didn't happen.

We need to see more performances like tonight's 2nd half and the performances against Boro, Leicester, Coventry, Bristol City and Derby, we've proved we can do it, Rowett has proved he can set us up to do it, it's the only thing that's gonna keep us up.
When we set up to be positive and have a go, we invariably get something from the game. When we set up to not lose, we invariably lose.

We've proved we can compete at this level, onwards and upwards now.

Yes there have been some poor performances, but some of the comments on here before the game even started this evening was embarrassing.

Would you like cream, ice cream or custard with yours?

A great result absolutely delighted . A touch of day Deja Vue

I feel like this is somewhat contradictory. You’ve just witnessed tonight that a team can go into a game as runaway favourites and come out with nothing — that’s Championship football.

Expecting us to be bang on it every game is unrealistic, and just because we don’t perform in a game, it doesn’t mean we weren’t trying to do the right thing tactically. With the players we have, sometimes it just won’t come off

Big win tonight
So pleased for Sparky, hassled their back 2 and goal a just reward.
Ciaron and Jack must be the best left side defence in the league, jacks cover at left back for our 2nd, just immense
Defended the box well, but Hirst sharpness here and there caused Mike some problems.
Disappointed with the Sykes repeat with their goal.
Subs made a big difference, and Brian just loves the a Shemmy outlet.
Lanks tremendous his best game for us.
The budgets child support seems to have taken the pressure off Ty, as looked like he enjoyed himself for at last.
Brodie will be back soon.
Will enjoy my red wine tonight.
Yes and for those wondering why Sparky got the nod over Will GR explained on Sky it was after watching Ipswich games and how they play. A gamble to reverse select front players.

We had one game to go after - Swansea away. If we had drawn it would have been nail biting and losing would have made us likely candidates to go down.

We played so well that day. Won every second ball. Nelson was world class.
I stand corrected! And I do now remember being very pleased that we'd secured safety that week, otherwise I might've torn up my Swansea tickets - not sure I could've held it together going there knowing we needed something. Instead, I ended up leaving Wales with someone else's 5ft inflatable banana.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that picking Mark Harris ahead of Will Lankshear is a near-sackable offence.
Oh, for goodness sake. Get real! So the tactic of playing MH for 60 mins and then bringing on Lankshear - a terrific performance from him btw - was a near sackable offence, was it? GR desperately needs your input. Get in touch.

I'd hate to be in a disciplinary meeting with some of the Personnel on here - luckily I'm retired.

Mills was brilliant defensively in that first half too, keeping Philogene quiet and sacrificing some of his attacking instincts.
I agree Mills was brilliant defensively - worked so hard and outright tackled Philogene two or three times - but did anyone else notice how hard Placheta worked defensively as well when he came on? Constantly tracking back, and even blocked a low, goalbound shot as well. Exactly what you need from your wingers in these sort of games

Not one mouthful of humble pie will be passing my lips thank you. I was right, performances and results have not been good enough, and we should've and could've been doing a lot better, if we'd approached more games like we've approached tonight's game and the previous games I mentioned.
If we'd done that more often, we'd be a lot better off right now.

Why would I want any humble pie, when I've been right all along?
Instead, I think I'll have a nice helping of "I told you so"

;)

What a result

We defended brilliantly as a team, very organised and everybody working hard off the ball. Credit to Rowett - this is what his teams do!

The whole defence were excellent along with Cummings (aside from his poor kicking).

De Keersmacker put in one of his best performances. He really showed his quality in the second half and with the assist - everything was going through him.

Lankshear gives us much more going forward than Harris. But after hearing Rowett's comments I can understand why he was picked and I'm very happy to see him score. He is very good off the ball which can go under-appreciated.

And final word on the officials - terrible. They allowed their centre backs to get away with everything.

Yes that was good coaching and motivation from Rowett. They basically had two wingers on their left and we struggled but kept at it.

Had been out for dinner this evening, and tuned in just to see Cheddar slotted in our 2nd. Was very end-to-end for a while after that, and then mostly them for the last while. I am surprised at how quick Cumming was to get the ball out of the box each time, only for us to lost it on the halfway line and repeat. Why not hold onto the ball for a bit? I'm not saying time waste, but at least slow things down a little, rather than actively seeming to be in a rush to start another attack. Not that it ultimately mattered, as we were able to hold on for the win, but they had plenty of chances there towards the end that on another day could have gone against us.

Having watched the highlights, it looks like we did well there, and nice to see Sparky scoring a Sparky goal! Their goal was well taken, but poor from us to leave him unmarked. Lovely composure for the winner. COYY 💛

There is a new rule this season where if the GK holds onto ball after catching or picking up for too long the ref can award a corner to the opposition. I've watched a couple of games on TV where this has happened.

Harris presses really well, we know that. It must be soul destroying as a defender having had Harris chasing you down for 60 mins only to see Placheta and Lankshear getting ready to come on.

You know you’re now going to have to deal with a very physical CF who’s quite happy to run at or through you and you’ve got a winger who can outrun you with ease if he has space.

I don’t think Rowett has done anything particularly different to his plan on Tuesday. Hold out for 60 mins, tire the defence and bring on some players with some speed and physicality to get a winner. It didn’t work because we conceded early.

I thought Krastev also did well in terms of harrying the opposition. He’s got good vision too. As someone said on another thread, the likes of Brannagan, Romeny, BDK and Krastev have both a brain and technical ability. When it works. It works very well.

Long was my MOTM today. But I think most, if not all of the players performed really well. Should also acknowledge the ball boys too. Finally worked out when to speed up getting the ball back into play and when to take as much time as possible.

Two/three huge games coming up now. Three games unbeaten, let’s make it six.

From looking a little bit ominous
That Ciaron Brown tackle, changed the game.

Enjoyed tonight’s game very much against very stiff opposition.
For me Cumming was man of the match and could do nothing to stop their well taken goal.
Nice to see Tyler recapturing his old form, and Rominey getting game time.
I’m more confident that we can muster a few more points to get us moving up the table. If we had lost this one we would have been in trouble.
Let’s hope that Swansea and Portsmouth can sucked in to the relegation battle

Fancy that. GR doesn't do his tactics on the back of a ciggie packet like some on here think he does! He watches the opposition and makes considered choices. While things do not always come off, clearly he has a rationale for doing things and spends time working out his approach to each match. Clearly he hasn't lost the players either.
