Transfer Window 26/27 Summer Transfer Window Preview

So, what players are definitely leaving? Dembele, Lankshear, Donley, Placheta, Konak, Davies, Ferdinan, MPH.

Potential players leaving? Leigh, Negru, Kioso, Sibley, Bradshaw, Dale, Goodwin

Fringe players? Makosso, O’Donkor, Eastwood,

Unknown/potentially could leave/sold
players? BDK, Currie, Spencer, Mills,

Players left/potentially staying? Cumming, Ingram, Long, ter Avest, Helik, Brown, Roosken, Brannagan, Vaulks, McDonnell, Emakhu, JinWoo, M Harris, Prelec, Goodrham, Romeny.

I would be concerned with the 16 that are potentially left!!

What do others think?
I think you've made up a situation that has no basis in fact just so you can be concerned about it. Chill out, make up a different situation that'll make you feel better about things

Boris, I’ve based it on what I think is likely to happen, not to suit any agenda.

I’d say the players I’ve mentioned that are definitely going/likely to go, who we could potentially sell, fringe players and who’s left is about right!

Hence me asking what others think. Would be good to see what others think, especially as Bloomfield has apparently alluded to there not being many changes etc.

I don’t think we will bounce back into the championship next season but I think we will be busy re building a team that can challenge for championship football , just right for the first match at the triangle .

I’m not sure I buy this ‘limited amount of change’ line..

I could easily see 15+ leaving (inc departing loan players), along with 8 signings (inc loans signings)..

Guess it depends how you define ‘limited’..
I'd imagine Bloomfield was referring just to the players within the squad, and not the players that were out on loan.

So is that official from today then?

I thought we had already done that in Jan?

I'm glad a couple of people have brought up Siriki.

We don't really know what's going on with him behind the scenes,

It does feel likely at this stage that the club might allow him to go (possibly on the cheap and probably to a promotion rival), but again we don't know that, and all we do know is that he's under contract next season (barring any funky, but plausible, release clause).

When I think about playing with more possession next season, and the need to find creative players who can break through a defence, it does make me at least question the wisdom of writing him off.

What felt like a luxury in the Championship could be essential in League One.

His record at this level is better than good (doing a bit of digging, where Peterborough used him behind a CF, it is 9 goals and 13 assists in 32 games - which is 30% better than Donley's return at Orient for comparison).

I'm pretty resigned to losing him, but it isn't making me whoop with joy, because we're not drowning in attacking players who are proven at this level.

It’s a slightly odd situation that we could possibly have several plays who were generally considered not good enough last season, stepping back in to the team this year.

Sparky, Kioso, Leigh, Dembele and Sibley to name a few.

Could go either way. They might have chips on their shoulders about it all or it might fire them up with a point to prove.

So, what players are definitely leaving? Dembele, Lankshear, Donley, Placheta, Konak, Davies, Ferdinan, MPH.

Potential players leaving? Leigh, Negru, Kioso, Sibley, Bradshaw, Dale, Goodwin

Fringe players? Makosso, O’Donkor, Eastwood,

Unknown/potentially could leave/sold
players? BDK, Currie, Spencer, Mills,

Players left/potentially staying? Cumming, Ingram, Long, ter Avest, Helik, Brown, Roosken, Brannagan, Vaulks, McDonnell, Emakhu, JinWoo, M Harris, Prelec, Goodrham, Romeny.

I would be concerned with the 16 that are potentially left!!

If that were to happen I would say that defensively we will be fairly sound as we were this season
It’s further forward that concerns me
We need a ball playing centre half in the Nelson mould
We need two other attack minded midfielders and a number 10
Another couple of wingers and certainly a decent striker eg Waltham from Exeter or Ballard from Orient
The rest of that squad could be on the bench but they won’t cut the mustard if they are starting
So 7 decent players in and we should make the playoffs

Makosso We've just signed him for mill plus I thought

Now we are into the crazy world of the transfer window thread, whatever happened to the poster BigBoys list? Was that his name? I looked for his profile last night and couldn’t find him.
She’s changed her name

Read the previous 8 pages that will give you some idea.

I wasn’t sure what was happening with Makosso, but I think he’d be okay. From a mobile perspective, I actually preferred over Helik, but I guess Helik offers more from a heading perspective. Would be good to keep both.
When Helik signed he emphasised how important it was to him to be playing in the Championship. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s one of the squad looking to stay there now.

I could see a club like Stoke or Blackburn coming in for him. A good solid, no nonsense defender with championship experience for a decent price.

Sparky, yes. The others, you'd think we'd probably be looking to offload – depending on whether key players like Spencer and Currie stay. Feels like Dembele has been frozen out a bit...some bridges burned there perhaps.

Sibley has by all accounts been a very poor signing for Bradford. Can't even make the bench.

Last posted on 1st September with an incorrect claim. He always was a fraud who claimed to be ITK after seeing a list he shouldn’t have in the Summer ‘24 window, and he tried to ride the coattails of that for the next two windows with diminishing returns. Anyone who saw Tiger’s list is as much ITK as he ever was.

This summer is the chance to be ruthless. Despite dropping down a division, I still believe that we're carrying too many players that aren't quite at the levels we need. We're shouldering a very high wage bill, so I would be doing all I could to reduce that.

For me, the following can leave:
--------------------------------------------------
Helik
Leigh
Vaulks
Sibley
Ter Avest
Kioso
Dale
Goodwin
Bradshaw
Harris
Negru
O'Donkor
Dembele
Romeny
Ferdinan

Of course, expecting that many players to be loaned out or sold in a summer window just isn't realistic. However, it just goes to show you how many bang average players we've been spunking a small fortune on, for far too long!

Massive summer ahead and with Scott Mitchell on his way out, if the recruitment now sits with Ed Waldron, he simply has to get this right! No pressure...

Weirdly they got it right for a couple of windows, but I assume whatever access they had has ended

Considering our 2025 revenue in the Championship was:

Matchday: £3,267,000
Broadcast: £11,454,000
Commercial: £4,278,00
Total: £18,999,000

We will obviously see a drop in TV revenue in League One (to ~2m?), but under the SCMP we can only commit 60% of this revenue to wages - although teams dropping from the Championship are given some flex in the first season.

I think I have this right, @tonyw is the guy for this, I'm sure he will correct me, but surely crude math suggests a significant drop in wages? As such, I imagine we will have to utilise the players we have who wish to stay, or look to find buyers for those not fancied/want to leave.

Why doesn't transfer window open until June 15th. Seems that's a decision of a control freak.
Each national football association decides on the dates of the 'window' but it may not exceed 12 weeks.

Plenty of negotiations (club and player) can happen from whenever people want to start them, it's just paperwork on loans/permanent transfers can't formally be submitted until the window is open.
