Transfer Window 26/27 Summer Transfer Window Preview

This is our next 4 months.

We need players who have promotion experience that can get us back in to the Champ, but who won't break the bank.

We need to unearth the next big thing, but will give the recruitment team pelters every time we sign someone we haven't heard of.

We need to sign young players with high ceilings, but can't pay too much for them.

We need to scour L2 and the National League, but almost anyone from there will be a bargain bucket option.

God, I don't envy the recruitment team trying to keep us miserable, football-starved bastards happy...!
And you think our recruitment team are capable of doing that?

Wrexham reportedly interested in Dom Ballard, to give you a sense of perspective.

Was just listening to the Dub.. I wonder whether a few might be asked to stick with us until Jan, prove themselves a bit more. BDK in particular I feel owes us at least til Jan after getting the Op done...and could be insane at L1 level. Perhaps thats fanciful...

If most are contracted, there are a few levers we can utilise with bonuses. We also have the option to get owner loans for equity again in L1, these are capped in the Champs, I think? So maybe it wont be a fire sale.

Will have to wait and see. I do have the view that some players who have come up short in the Champs may find their feet in L1. Vaulks renaissance incoming đź‘€
BDK moaned about kick and rush of the championship do you think his shoulders will take the physicality of league 1 ,he will be using the electric blue bus to get out as quick as he can.

And when we won the play offs we got told that we were a few weeks behind everyone because we didn’t know what league we were going to be in! e.g. playing catch-up!
But players are being lined up or pre contracts already ,as soon as Shemmy had a hamstring problem he was off ,BDK wasn't fighting our cause he's already got something lined up what goes on behind the scenes we don't know the half of it.

If we need to shift any players on big wages I’m sure Kilmarnock and Hearts would be happy to strike a deal
Findlay has already signed a pre-contract with Hearts. Seeing as we have done them such a huge favour with him, perhaps they would like another high profile Scottish player in Dembele

I think our number priority for this summer window is creating an identity on how we want to play. That starts with a CB, in our two years in the championship we never had a centre back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and can bring the ball forward, in league one we’ll see a whole lot more of the ball and this is something that needs addressing.

It’s definitely a case of signing quality over quantity this summer.

I think we had two, Makosso and Davies - but for some reason they were underutilised

Players will go.
Id be happy with one of the two centre backs going and keeping the other.
Ideally lose Helik and keep Brown but think it may be Brown that goes. Get Makosso on perm. That gives us Makosso, Long, Helik or Brown and id get a young CB on loan.

Currie or Spencer - one to go but keep the other. I think Currie is better so would likely gain a larger fee and Spencer offers much more versatility.

BDK and Mills the same. I'd let one go and keep the other. Mills id keep and say get us back up and if we fail you go with our blessings next summer.

There are all players under contract (except Makosso, who will cost millions). It's not that easy in real life

Sheffield Wednesday have had the -15 points deduction revoked for next season, so I can now see them playing a part, plus new owner(s)!
EFL page says:

Has BDK done enough to warrant serious interest from championship sides as yet, maybe as fans we are slightly biased?

I would hope we keep him until Jan and hopefully he’s had a good first half of season to get a better return (even if as a lge 1, we may have less bargaining power)

random thoughts:
Still unsure on the Prelec and Roosken signing.
Dembele is going to be difficult to shift as is Romeny
Is Jin Woo suited to lge 1
When is the retained list due to be announced

It was us and Blackburn in for him last season, so not exactly the better teams, I doubt a good start, tail off in performances and then out injured for a third of the season has seen his value rise.

Who knows with football though, it’s an economic circus of its own.

I wouldn't necessarily be rushing to get rid of anyone who's been a key squad player this season.

The players we'd probably most like to move on may well be the most difficult to move, as by their nature they're not in our plans and so a) their stock may be low b) they won't fancy losing wages to move on unless they have to.

It's impossible to think too far ahead without knowing more precisely what the contractual situations of our players is, whether that's those who could leave for nothing, or those who have some sort of relegation release clause built in.

It's very simplistic to say, but I'd be looking to keep as many as possible of those who featured regularly, and try to move on those who didn't and are taking up a squad place and costing us wages. But that's obviously easier said then done.

For next season, I want our loans out to be for the right reasons, that is seeing players we want to make use of in the future develop at a club further down the leagues.

This season we have loaned out the following and their respective ages in brackets: Goodwin (23), Findlay (30), Thorniley (29), Kioso (26), Dale (27), Negru (23), Sibley (24) and Bradshaw (33)*. Eight players loaned out who are way past needing 'development'.

I know we needed to offer incentives to get into and then stay in the Championship but - my word - have we ended up with a bloated squad with a lot of players unwanted and unusable.

Bloomers said a clear our wasn't coming but he may be in for a surprise when some of those still contracted to us above come back.

*The likes of Ferdinan, Golding, Elliott-Wheeler etc I'm not counting since these were loans for development purposes.

I wonder if we'll get rid of Romeny to a Dutch or Belgian side? Can't see him playing a part as he's made no impact at all.

What position does he play? No one has really known.

At least with BDK and HTA who also arrived from the Eredivisie, we knew where they could go (with HTA, he's a quality wingback but we play him mostly as a RB) but we've never truly found where to put Romeny.

You're right though. In nine starts and 23 sub appearances, you'd hope to see something by now to command keeping him.

Most of the Cardiff team that have just finished 2nd, and are now back in the championship looked way below the level last season. Albeit they changed manager to a very possession based attacking style. There will no doubt be players that maybe some have written off and would like to see moved on that suprise a few next season.
Cardiff built around youngsters who on the whole didn’t get a look in the previous season. Then with a new manager and these players adding to the players who were there the previous season gave them a confidence that carried them through. The team was badly managed by Bulut and then Riza. A lot of overpaid and under performing players were got rid of.

I still think he's a striker! He's certainly not anything else.

It's just that lots of fans, over the past two years, were saying he's a L1 player. Goodrham is a L1 player, would you get rid of him too ? Personally, I'd have got rid of both if we'd stayed up but would probably keep both in L1.
His attitude by all accounts stinks, and he would rather beat his man a second or third time than actually deliver a ball to a team mate, get rid at the earliest opportunity I say.

If Bloomfield is expecting minimal activity, I’d imagine he envisages that BDK will be leaving for a sizeable fee. One or two others for good fees. Streamlining…maybe getting rid of players that have rarely featured. Dembele is one, maybe Rominey.
