Heard an interesting rumour today.

Apparently we had agreed, on deadline day, to loan Sam Bell from Bristol City. But the EFL wouldn't agree to it.

Suspect he would have been instead of Lynch - and it kind of backs up the theory that the latter was only allowed because of his relative inexperience.

Looks like the EFL are scrutinising these things and that it's not purely about the financial implications of bringing in loan players but also about whether they are the calibre of player (with the experience to boot) that we should be able to.
My Bristol City supporting friends reassure me that is no loss at all.
‘Terrible player’
‘Dismal’
Were the two quotes

Being Bristol-based myself, I think he would have been a coup for this level.

Scored 6 in 17 for Wycombe for the first half of last season, then bagged 5 in 13 for City in the Championship in the second half.

Does prefer the left-hand side though, so Lynch was probably the better option overall for squad balance

Had a very good spell at City on his return from Wycombe.
Finished the season, with a goal every 98 minutes in the championship last season
3 starts and 10 off the bench

Hmmm.. I wonder?

Available for a loan spell after 31st December.

Given the Aaron Ramsey connection and the success of the Lankshear loan spell, would this be something to consider further.

Luton already expressing an interest, and they have the Jack Wilshere connection.

If we are flying high by Christmas, it could be interesting.

Luton have tried twice and been turned down both times so I doubt he will be going to a league 1 club.
Like us they have the Arsenal connection with Jack Wilshere who has also worked in their academy so that shows it’s not always about club connections.

Ah, I hadnt realised that.

I did think it was a drop too far but when I heard that Luton were sniffing thought it might be a little door opening.

But yes, in all honesty a Championship club probably be most likely.
