So, looks like we will will be going into the final day with no firm rumours from any journalists. Points to nothing happening.

Not sure how I feel about that. Would take Leigh and BdK departing if we could grab a couple of exciting you loans.

How exciting would the loaners we are not contributing anything towards be?

I think someone with arms, legs, a pulse, and who is prepared to play will be more exciting than BdK.

In all seriousness, the Andrews signing has given us a hint that we can do free loans for players we might actually want. Which figures as giving players first team opportunities is worth something to the big clubs. It's not all about finance.

BdK doesn't look like he will contribute anything so even a total gamble of a loan will be more exciting.

And just the trivial issue of putting in the bare minimum to keep things ticking over of course.

Yep because do you think TW just walked away without a severance package?

Or financial settlements to Shorty. Or wasting £1m on Aidomo.

You can't get a grip of reckless spending and plough in more millions to appease angry men like you.

I wonder where Ed sits in terms of whether we over spent on poor purchases?

Seems a number of the SMT have been moved on, but he’s still in situ!

Absolutely 2 years in the championship and a team worth less than we spent you usually end up with a player worth big money ,most of ours have been off loaded for nothing. He will probably be the next to go from the fall out from relegation. He certainly didn't cover himself with glory. And what an exciting day to look forward to on the transfer front. Hopefully better this evening

Anyone read the interview pre match with Helik. Interesting words. It's in the OM if you want to read it.

Firstly, he sounds committed and describes the team as being locked in. Reassuring.

Secondly he talks about transfers and though he doesn't say it directly, it's clear that the squad don't want players around that don't want to contribute. This lends weight to the idea that the players encouraged/accepted that it would be better for Mills to go.

Wonder if this points to a deal for BdK today being more likely.

Conversely, does this mean that if BDK stays, he's also 'locked in'?

We don't read the Fail on here. The interview is available as a video, on Youtube via the club. No click bait and no clicks for the Fail.

Why would it? He is clearly talking about the players currently in and around the playing squad and having a jab at anyone that's not committed.

Yes, in theory Erick can inject enough qualifying equity to get us out of the embargo. Lovely. Problem solved. Pop the champagne.
Except it isn’t solved at all.
This season Oxford get the temporary 65% allowance because we’ve just come down from the Championship. If turnover is £10m, that gives us £6.5m of base SCMP room.
Next season, if we’re still in League One, that drops to the normal 50%.
Same £10m turnover suddenly gives you just £5m.
So if the wage/manager/agent cost base hasn’t come down and turnover hasn’t gone up, congratulations: you’ve spent millions in equity getting compliant this year only to discover the hole is even bigger next year.
If costs were around £9.5m, you’d be looking at roughly a £4.5m gap next season before player trading. At 50%, that could mean needing around £9m of fresh qualifying equity just to stand still.
And then what? Do it again the year after? And again after that?
At some point even the “just write another cheque” strategy meets basic arithmetic.
Owner equity can bridge a gap. It cannot magically make an unsustainable cost base sustainable.
The long-term answer is painfully boring because it’s also painfully obvious:
Increase turnover.
Reduce wages and other SCMP costs.
Everything else is buying time with somebody else’s cheque book.

And, not that it was really needed, all this goes to show how ill thought through the new rules were. SCMP is not fit for purpose. Should never have been agreed and, with the evidence of how it's affected OUFC, should be scrapped.

Well if we still have BDk by the end of the window let's hope he gets his head down and gets fit to play. Maybe Ramsay can get something out of him. Surely it's in his best interest to actually play and put himself in shop window. Who knows maybe qpr get it over the line in the next 12 hours. I don't really know what's best tbh. I don't think loaning him anywhere would be a good outcome for us.

And OUFC should be compensated for the inability to strengthen the squad which has a negative impact on our club.

I suppose best case scenario is that a club meets BDK's release clause and Greg Leigh gets a permenant switch sorted, enabling the club have free loan winger and striker signed up. Needs pieces to fall into place but I'd imagine/hope that Ed and Co have been extremely busy in the past few days..

If there is no movement, I'd be happy for Greg and BDK to stick around, hopefully BDK will knuckle down, have an impact and get his move in January.

Having Andrews and McDonnell in midfield could free up Cam to play further up the pitch.

(We don't want Cam to play further up the pitch)

Unless we have players lined up it will be hard to bring players in at this late stage, not ITK at all but I can't see any moves in or out now, especially of nothing happens in the next couple of hours with a match on later, so I reckon the squad we have now will be the squad we go to June with.

A big problem for us with a very late deal tonight is we need EFL approval to sign anyone, its a complicated situation.

The rule in itself self is fine its just doesn't work for any relegated club whos turnover is less than £15m
Looking at Charlton turnover of £11m last accounts reported wage £16m under scmp at 65% they would need to drop down to £7.15m

Would not be against a midfield 3 of Cam, McDonnell and Andrews but not with Cam in the 10.
Has never worked.
McDonnell sitting and Cam and Kai just in front could be interesting.

Think this would work, both Cam and Kai getting to move up and down the pitch and McDonnell sat a bit deeper to intercept and leave the playmaking to the other 2. Its no secret that McDonnells passing isn’t great but he does well in recovering the ball

I know dembele has his faults, but his back tracking and winning the ball back is quite impressive
