Even if Leigh wants to go, surely he's another with some type of release/relegation clause?

We can't take the steps we have done with Mills, then freely allow Leigh to go. Admittedly they've (potentially) gone about it in different ways, but whilst we can control if a player leaves or not, we need a uniform approach.

I could see Ramsey just wanting BdK to leave, it very much sounds like everyone has just given up on him.

I don't believe he has any release clauses on his contract.

I agree, and whilst it is in more of our interest to allow Leigh to leave over Mills, you either have an "everyone stays" policy or you don't.

Not only do I not believe this to be the case, it would massively undermine our "everyone stays" policy if pissing people off was seen as a way to get around it.

I think BdK situation remains the same. Meet the release clause and he probably leaves. Don't and he remains an Oxford player.

It will also come down to whether BDK wants to leave or if he wants to stay and prove a point to the doubters.

Been deleted now. Strange 🤔

Not that strange considering our position.

But, if the club are confident that we'll be out of the embargo and going hard in the January window, then we should be putting out feelers for players now. If we take Kai Andrews as an example, then it wouldn't hurt to let Cov know that we're interested in a few months rather than them potentially agreeing a deal with Hibs again for the whole season.

Would it be unreasonable to suggest we might be eyeing up loans in case we were to lose one or two before the window closes? Jerome was hinting at the possibility of incomings on the Dub.

None of these "journalists" know anything anymore. Journalists with genuine connections within clubs no longer exist.

All you will see is content farming accounts run by bots, or possibly teenagers whose research goes no further than "Oxford manager Welsh - link with young Welsh prospect", or something to do with Arsenal.

It's all b*****s.

We have 23 permissible players currently. I agree that there's the potential to replace any players that leave, but honestly don't know how easy that would be if we're relying on the EFL to approve.

Last week Jerome stated that we couldn't make any financial contributions towards a loan deal, including even a penny towards their wages. I think this is wrong, and we can pay wages but no additional contributions. However, if he is right then I think it'll be even harder to get players in.

It is a little unclear as to whether that means we can't pay for any of his wages, or whether we can pay his wages, just not more than what he receives at his current club. If the whole idea is to put a limit on playing budgets, then it would seem odd to suggest the latter, else hypothetically it would be fine for us to staff up with a loan whose £300k per week we cover in its entirety (just not one penny more).

So to me, it means we can't pay anything for a loan, neither a loan fee, nor a wage contribution, which is what Jerome said on last week's pod. That said, I've not listened to yesterday's one, so don't know whether anything else has been said about the interpretation of that rule.

Cheers for clarifying the 23..

If there is anyway we could let a squad player move on (eg Leigh) to then replace in an area where AR feels he needs more cover then I hope we do it.

Appreciate that may frustrate a couple of players but I also do feel the Leigh situation is a bit different. He was left out of the squad in January, so has already lost half a season. If he is down the pecking order, and wants to move on then I hope he does. He’s clearly been extremely professional over what must have been a difficult period. It’s tough on him if he ends up effectively having 12-18 months of very little football, and isn’t even given the chance of moving on. It’s a completely different situation to Mills and BDK.

If it happens, then make sure it happens last minute.

Rather than signing anyone this window on a loan, I think it's more likely that we'll be out of the embargo in a couple of months time and looking at any options available in the free transfer market, if there's anything good still available.

In the League One squad we can register 22 outfield players, and currently, without any outgoings, we have 21. If we don't register Kent in that squad because he can't play until after January, then that leaves us with 20, meaning there would be 2 slots available to sign a free if/when we're out of the embargo.

I think that depends on how well we're doing and whether the quality is available in a position we need it, if not then there's every chance we'll stick with what we've got and save those spaces for the options available in the January window

I have also heard this is happening.
Please take that info with a large pinch of salt given the previous players we have 'signed' in this window!
I've heard this too, 42 minutes ago when WE Yellow posted that it was 'done in principle'.

I assume we agree to pay nothing until Jan and assuming out of embargo- rather than pay 25% of wages we pay 50% until end of season to make up shortfall?

Maybe Due to all the money and grabbing of young talent in the premier league - there should be a clause that means they must loan out a % of players without any cost to the loaning club.
