He's not saying that though, nor was he saying we should have spent more. He's saying we didn't spend on the right things. At least, reading his words that's how it appears to me.
“You spend an extra million, you stay up and have an extra 10million income. Speculate to accumulate and all that.”

The first three lines are true.

But it's very obvious he has a lot of ability even at Championship level. If he stays and his head is right, he would be one of the best players in League One.

Big ifs.
Lets hope but I wish he had Brown ,long ,Cams attitude, is he a team player

When he’s played I haven’t seen a lack of effort. It seemed our way of playing under Rowett didn’t suit his st,e because in most games we saw so little of the ball. When we don’t have the defenders to play the ball into midfield and enevitably hit the ball long he isn’t going to see the ball.
Hopefully this season we will be able to judge because we should be able to put more teams under pressure

Yes, the idea that "if only we'd spend a few extra million, we'd have stayed up and it would have been financially sensible because of the extra income in the Championship" is nonsense isn't it. We over-spent by approx £8m to get promoted from League One. This meant we could over-spend by £10m to stay up in Championship. This meant we could over-spend by £17m to attempt to stay up again in the Championship.

We gambled, we lost. If you start thinking we should gamble more to "win it all back", then it's clearly a problem.

I actually think for the player he is, Dembele's work rate is pretty decent. He's not someone who stands out for lack of effort (when he does actually get on the pitch)

Yes, he needs to release the ball sooner in some attacking scenarios. Yes, his output maybe needs to be a bit better, but I do feel like he's been tarnished with the lazy, sulky attitude brush very easily and it's a little unfair.

We've never really played to his strengths bar the first 3 months with Des at the helm and he's been an easy scapegoat since falling out with Rowett - but if you've got a choice of watching Dembele every week or watching Rowett's football I know what I'm choosing.

He also scored the two most important goals of the 24/25 season which doesn't seem to get a mention too often, so the value for money argument isn't there. Without him we're a League One side last season

I think he's probably just an introvert and hard character to get inside, we've rarely heard from him in the media since he joined, he seems on the periphery of social groups within the club. There is no doubting his immense ability on the ball though, and a bit of TLC from a progressive, attack minded manager could see him become an unbelievable asset in League One.

I hope he has a great season and wouldn't be at all surprised if he does.

EDIT - just seen the quoted post references BDK and not Dembele, sigh...

Think dembele will be fine at this level as the players are a step or so behind in thinking. Well at least that's what I hope we will need him to perform, maybe some of his silky runs may end up with him actually keeping the ball in league one..

Some of these players will want to perform to get moves in January or to get decent contracts especially the ones with less time on their contracts.

So then they can go back to being abit pants when they have a nice contract to sit on.

Happens in every league when a player is after a new contract or a move suddenly their form picks up. For some of them it could be their last good contract.

For me I would like Sibley to do well in particular because he does have talent he just hasn't really fit in the team a problem he seemingly has had his whole career. He was played on the left for alot of his time at derby.

He tries too hard flying into tackles etc which creates a problem of him possibly getting sent off within 10 minutes of being on the pitch and no manager so far has got the best out of him for us.

He has passion and wants to play you can see it. Maybe it's a reading the game problem or something no clue.

But he has so much promise earlier in his career maybe age will level his overall game out and he turns into a good player.

Wether that is for us or not who knows has looked better in preseason.

What player do you guys want/think will do well this season that are not 1 of the obvious players? A fringe player a youth player or one back in from the cold.

Do we think we would have kept Romney if we had found out about the embargo sooner? Or would he have gone anyway

That interview ramseys just given 😬

I know AR isn't the most exciting of talkers, at least from a monotony perspective... but couldn't help feeling the YouTube put out by the club the other day was a bit forced and even now he sounds a bit done with the situation.

Can you rally blame him? Players looking to leave and no chance of replacing them.

Thank you..

Could hardly hear it, Probably a good thing.

Feel for him he looks absolutely fed up and knackered annoyed with having to make excuses and regurgitate the same things as he can't tell the truth also seemingly broken promises.

Looks like it does provide some proof to the claims of outgoings in just the general manner of his demeanor.

Don't feel great about our club at the moment.

Does say the word is still the same from ownership wether he believes that to be the case or not is another thing.

It must be energy draining dealing with all the uncertainty and goings on at the moment certainly thrown in at the deep end. Surely the club and ownership knew the rules this season and how we were going to fall a foul of them..

He has been far better than that in previous interviews more positive and happy by far even with the total mess the club is in, also it's a new thing for him to do these interviews and answers questions.

But yeah you call tell for sure he is probably completely done and pissed off don't blame him one bit.

Agree, the interview he did when they were away in Spain was a lot more positive than you’d expect considering what he’s been thrown into.

I guess he was still believing the ‘we’re going to retain all our players’ line at that point.

You can tell it’s getting to him now, and I don’t really blame him.

I’m taking a different view on this.
Most of you seem to be negative, but Ramsey he says he has spoken to management and they are on the same page and BDK and Mills are training.
Now it would seem the club have kept their word and they don’t want to sell, if of course Mills (or BDK for that matter )are set on leaving that is a different situation. Ramsey won’t be happy about that but it’s not as if it’s not as if the club are rolling over.
So let’s see what happens, I expect Stan to be in the squad, not the starting X1, doubt if BDK will feature due to lack of game time.
If Stan is not in the squad it will mean things have reached decision time but let’s get things into perspective,we still have a good squad

Whether either of them stay or go does anyone genuinely believe the reason for Mills and BDK’s non involvement in training is anything other than related to a possible move away from the club?
They want to stay away from possible injuries for sure to get out of the club if anyone thinks otherwise is looking through rose tinted glasses. Wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see one go this weekend or next week..

Only if they pay BDK's release clause and stump up decent money for Mills.

If they are unhappy so what that's football if we get to the end of the window and they are still here tough they have to play. No matter how many posts Preston make that Danny mills likes.

Pay up or shut up and we will have to deal with it come what may.

Yeah a positive outlook I will try to do the same. My wife always tells me I am too negative. She beat stage 4 cancer by having positive outlook every day.

We will survive no matter what happens. Onwards into the breach!

Bring on Orient!
