You’ve really got to drop this. We spent way more than a club of our revenue should have done, and you think we should have spent more?!We didn’t spend to stay in the Championship. That’s the crux of the problem. We spaffed a lot of money. There’s a big difference.
I forgot about him. Another for the who/what/where are they game. Crypto board members are all the rage at OUFC.I assumed Laksmana was the guy to get a handle on the finances.
Melia has gone to lincoln, to replace Moylan. good signingAgree with this and if we could say be in the top 10 at Xmas the January window would be huge.
As you say what injuries we get is the main area of concern.
Decent striker and centre back our main priorities who maybe give that little bit extra, hopefully a Denis Smith sort of season would be great where we really hit the straps in the new year to gain promotion
Will be a chance to add depth, as long as we are out of the embargo.I am not saying it will save us, but it will definitely be a chance for us to add needed depth. We do not need to find season savers (hopefully), just a handful who could rotate in when needed and not see too vast a drop in quality
We should have spent it better, and not on the rubbish we did spend it on.You’ve really got to drop this. We spent way more than a club of our revenue should have done, and you think we should have spent more?!
To be fair he’s saying we could and should have spent it much better. You’ve really got to drop this. We spent way more than a club of our revenue should have done, and you think we should have spent more?!
Think he's there to oversee the stadium project and to ensure new investors are brought inI assumed Laksmana was the guy to get a handle on the finances.

Thankyou. We were fishing around the bargain bin, when 2-3 intelligent signings sees us a decent Champ club.We should have spent it better, and not on the rubbish we did spend it on.
Heads should roll for that, that’s for sure.
I don’t want to pile on to Ed Waldron but for a club aspiring to be ‘top 30’ we really didn’t focus on areas that mattered to get us there. To be fair he’s saying we could and should have spent it much better.
We did spend an awful lot of money on permanents and loans, there’s no question about that. Yet here we are about to start a new campaign in League One, and 3 years on we still have probably 6 starters from that season and certainly from the play off final who will be in our side next week. We signed over 30-40 players (including loans) since we got promoted and yet very few cut the mustard, that’s a damning indictment on the quality of the recruitment.
We just spent an awful lot of money very badly in the main (there were some exceptions of course).
Anyway we can’t turn the clock back, we are where we are, let’s hope the players can give us something to really cheer about in the weeks ahead.
Its funny but when we have been skint and had to rely on the youth they came through and we produced some lads who went on to have solid league careers...its when we have been successful and not needing to gamble on youth that they stopped coming through...obviously not in all cases but mid 70's , early 80's , part of 90's when given the opportunity some who probably would have drifted to non league came good.It would be incredibly lucky if, just when we need them, after not really producing many young players, 4 (5 if you include O Donkor) young players come through now.
But fingers crossed we are that lucky, maybe Ramsey found a four leaf clover or something, and we are talking about the class of 26 for years to come.
So they were all free transfers on zero wages then? or we still spent money.Thankyou. We were fishing around the bargain bin, when 2-3 intelligent signings sees us a decent Champ club.
You spend an extra million, you stay up and have an extra 10million income. Speculate to accumulate and all that. And embargoes don’t happen. And FoSB don’t have another stick to beat us with.

Does that include wages, bonuses, signing-on fees, agents fees? Equivalent contract lengths? Ability to attract players to a club fighting relegation as opposed to one with Premier League aspirations?Jin Woo, Emakhu and Prelec for a January window combined fee in the same ballpark as that which was spent by Norwich on Mohamed Touré at the same time.
Andy Thomas, Kevin Brock and Mark Jones were prime examples, though suspect you already know thatIts funny but when we have been skint and had to rely on the youth they came through and we produced some lads who went on to have solid league careers...its when we have been successful and not needing to gamble on youth that they stopped coming through...obviously not in all cases but mid 70's , early 80's , part of 90's when given the opportunity some who probably would have drifted to non league came good.
Spent money, but we spent it poorly on most occasions we did. I acknowledge we did pick up a couple of decent players at the same time but a lot of below average players too.So they were all free transfers on zero wages then? or we still spent money.
Tait , Jeffrey , Taylor , an alternativeAndy Thomas, Kevin Brock and Mark Jones were prime examples, though suspect you already know that![]()

Spot on. Don’t change your name to Mick/Billy/Les tho!Tait , Jeffrey , Taylor , an alternative
If the players we signed were expensive they weren’t bargain bucket, they just weren’t very good. And why do you think Sorba Thomas would want to sign for Oxford, even if we could afford his wages?Missing the point I think. Of all the signings we spent money on in our Chsmpionship exploration, how many were
A) champ quality
B) played a key part in us staying up.
Here’s a question, if we had have spent 2 million on Sorba Thomas rather than Jin Woo, El Mizouni, Roosken, etc.
We went for Bargain bucket rather than players who could realistically keep us up.
Or if you can't spell ridiculous, daft is perfectly adequateOf course we spent. Hugely for a club with our income ( despite some 'bargain basement' claims from one or 2 fans).
Being massively outspent by most clubs clearly made it difficult.
And yes the recruitment was poor.
But to suggest that we didnt spend to try and stay in the Championship is ridiculous
BDK checked out in January to suggest he's a championship quality player is very dubious & probably a little ambitious.People seem to miraculously forget for a brief while last summer when we were targeting champ level players like BdK, Lauritsen etc
That’s the quality that keeps you up.
I’m not criticising Ed, you can only work with what’s given, but we didn’t s**t, neither did we get off the pot, we were basically left farting with a few winnets hanging around….
Didn't Foley say recruitment was poorMissing the point I think. Of all the signings we spent money on in our Chsmpionship exploration, how many were

BDK is absolutely a Championship quality player.BDK checked out in January to suggest he's a championship quality player is very dubious & probably a little ambitious.
When ? We haven't seen him for 7 months.BDK is absolutely a Championship quality player.
I haven’t seen Josh Murphy in seven months. He’s Championship quality too. When ? We haven't seen him for 7 months.
Murphy has a medalI haven’t seen Josh Murphy in seven months. He’s Championship quality too.
Emakhu looked a real handful on sat. Looks a different beast. Was far better than mills on satAbsolutely. And by way of example:
- Jin Woo, Emakhu and Prelec for a January window combined fee in the same ballpark as that which was spent by Norwich on Mohamed Touré at the same time.
- A combined zero goals (zero assists) vs nine Championship goals from February onwards.
- Contributing massively to a net gain of 12 points over us from that point (from fewer games too).
And to compound it, only one of our three 'assets' will be playing any football for us any time soon...
