I know it might be getting boring seeing posts from the Preston forum, but I didn't see the harm in sharing, as it seems it could be useful to know. This fan has been deemed very ITK for them and was a big influence on the Mills rumour. The fans were taking their word as gospel, saying Mills was a done deal, and now they've come out and confirmed they have no idea what's going on and later have spoken that they think they may be priced out of signing Mills. We know that keeping Mills will be a difficult as he'll have interest, but it always felt weird that no reporters were posting about this and that it was purely Preston fans

The terms "Escrow / Bank Statements", "Legally Binding Guarantees", and "Cleared Cash" are just the common banking and legal methods clubs use when submitting their financial evidence (FFI) to the EFL to prove those owner letters are real. But the EFL rulebook itself refers broadly to Letters of Guarantee, Equity Injections, and Audited Accounts/Reconciliations.

Because if he's out on loan, Oxford United still retain his registration, therefore he is part of the OUFC squad registered with the FA.

Everyone is available at the right price. Given our circumstances we are perhaps valuing players at or above the top end of the market range. But almost everyone, everywhere would be sold at the right price.

Just my thinking, but at some point the club had to get its finances under control. Whichever way you look at it, we have been spending well beyond our means, and that simply could not continue forever.

On the whole, I believe ths squad is good enough to hold its own in League One and, with the right manager, possibly push for the play-offs. Nobody knows yet how Ramsey will perform, or whether Bloomfield would have done better with more time, but the quality within the squad is clearly there.

We were not a million miles away from staying in the Championship. At times, I think the players were let down by the management. Rowett was often too defensive and unwilling to take the game to opponents. Blomfield also made some strange tactical decisions, particularly against Norwich, while the lack of attacking intent against Derby and the decision to shut up shop against Charlton were equally frustrating.

Perhaps this is actually the right time for a reset. The club’s statement spoke about retaining the squad, and so far that appears to be happening, although there is obviously still a long way to go.

I also donot believe the club is completely desperate for money. Had the financial situation been as catastrophic as some are suggesting, you would expect key players to have been sold by now, with far more rumours and activity surrounding departures.

for me is simplethe club needed to stop the uncontrolled spending, but that does not automatically mean we are broke or facing disaster. If we retain this squad and operate with greater financial discipline, this reset could leave Oxford United stronger, more stable and capable of challenging near the top of League One.

I don't think it adds up that this was a deliberate measure to stop spending when we had just sacked and hired a manager at great cost, and had deals agreed for senior players when the embargo was enforced. It doesn't make any sense.

I think it will be difficult for us to operate with greater financial discipline and keep this squad together because there is a lot of players on wages that aren’t sustainable for us at the current time at this level.

All of which is why I said perhaps we are better off selling our biggest assets and getting ourselves out of this embargo and the wages under the control we need to along with the transferring of costings with the stadium planning/build.

It may be short term pain and we may struggle but the club will be in better health for it, instead of losing double figures each year.

ifinancial discipline does not automatically mean selling every valuable player and accepting a season of struggle.
There is a huge difference between reducing an unsustainable wage bill in a controlled way and conducting a fire sale. Selling the club’s biggest assets may bring in money, but it also removes the players most capable of getting us promoted. That could leave us weaker on the pitch, reduce attendances and commercial income, and potentially cost the club far more in the long term.

The sensible approach is to move on the players who are expensive, or not contributing enough(romany prelec, while retaining the core of a squad that should be competitive in League One. That appears to be what the club’s statement is suggesting.
