Transfer Window 26/27 Summer Embargo Window

Really? It doesn’t seem tough for anyone else. Peterborough are getting rising to 6 million for a lad who had a decent 6 months in league one and nothing else.
Disagree, Peterborough are an exception to the rule. Credit to them and probably Darragh McAnthony and Barry Fry. Also I believe all players that refuse a new contract going into the last year are transfer listed.

All the other teams are achieving similar fees to us.

A blistering five months in L1 - which he is very capable of - is going to further enhance Mills reputation and benefit us in the January window. It’s three or four months since he’s kicked a ball competitively so he’s not as fresh in the minds of other clubs as we will be off the back of some great form come January. Of course the reverse thought process is he could suffer a season ending injury but I think a bigger move than Preston awaits if he just bides his time - and produces.

Another good point made to me elsewhere that I hadn’t really considered is what Everton take away from this.

~20% is the norm, I presume. But I’d imagine because of his condition when we bought him, the deal was lower on the fee (if much at all) and higher on the clauses.

So what if £3m is actually more like £2m or £1.5m…

and we will have a sell on too. So when he moves next for 5m to 10m we will benefit. So let's wait and see.

It isn’t if they are under contract and no clause guaranteeing their sale and why make the statement they did if so much of it is out of their hands?

I’m sure others wanted to leave, or would’ve at least asked the question upon relegation. It’s normal. At least if the answer is no across the board then there’s a level of fairness the players can lean in to. That gets dismantled the minute one gets special treatment.
Again how do you know it will unsettle everyone else
Just like us they see team mates very good mates leave all the times that dont mean they all want to leave
They could all sit there at the same time and look at cam bran and say well hes not leaving so im not
Know one knows

The main reasons mills would be committed in pre season are that he is a decent character and doesn't want to let people down and also that he himself wants to get fit for pre season (think more Guehi and Eze than Isak)

We'll stay up, comfortably. 10 points above the drop. Next season we'll fall short of the playoffs by a point. The following season, HMS Pisstheleague will set sail. You heard it here first!

Pissing the league while playing home games at MK Dons ground will at least make that a bit more bearable.

Yet there was people disagreeing with that very same point RE: BDK.

If nobody meets the release clause he most likely won’t leave.

Mills will have a valuation, I’d say £3m is a fair starting point. He’s not worth more than that currently & with our financial position a number that’s hard to turn down.
We all over estimate our players worth, but at this point Mills is literally irreplaceable. I can't imagine 3m moves the needle enough for us to be worth while and whilst we are unable to make signings, the value of those in the squad have increased.

Also worth noting how fees are paid - *if* this sort of deal was considered (I have no clue what number we need to remove the embargo), we would surely be wanting all of the fee up front rather than staggered. Clubs would have to meet (I assume) chunky valuations and stump up the cash up front.

Mills had a pretty average season last season though. 6 goal contributions only.

It's 7. From 29 starts. Playing for Rowett and Bloomfield.

We live in a world where we readily pay £1m-£2m for risky imports in their mid-20s with zero pedigree and zero experience of English football who turn out to be largely ineffective.

A 22 year old English winger who has actually proven himself capable at Championship level is worth, in today's market, north of £5m every day of the week.

In a relegated team.

The raw stats overlook how much he came of age in the second half of the season where he was shining in a struggling team.

Career ending injury is exactly what will be in Stan’s head he was out for 6/8 months with a nasty injury before he came back here.
If Stan wants a move then should we stand in his way if a fair valuation can be sorted?
A footballers career is not that long, Stan will want to play at the highest level possible.
He will be paid a lot more by a Championship club and may get a decent length contract, don’t forget that’s why we lost Murphy to Pompey ,he was given that extra year( looks like he made the correct decision due to his injuries)
None of us know what’s going on exactly but let’s not be too harsh on the club until we know the full story

And that's another thing would he pass a medical we might of took the risk another team may not

Missing the point. We’d have all expected to lose Mills so let’s not gaslight the fans.

We aren’t skint according to Dusan - it’s a “timing issue”. He’s told us that we’ve entered an embargo by choice but will mitigate that by retaining everyone without a clause.

Lying to us is the norm (despite promising better days before), but lying to Ramsey and testing his resolve is another level of thick. The season starts on Saturday and by selling Mills we risk lighting a fire under that dressing room and I would imagine we are on thin ice with him as it is. Judging by Mills involvement in pre season, this is not someone Ramsey is expecting to lose.

You’d think therefore we’re at least doing a deal that lifts the embargo, but at a poxy £3m with still no ability to replace we may as well be donating him to Preston.

It’s nothing to do with Mills, it’s what selling him now represents. I for one don’t believe for a moment our problems are as shallow as Dusan suggests.
Oh please, Nobody can guarantee a player stays with a club even Ramsey is not that thick surely!

£3m would suggest he’s 15% of the player Will Lankshear is in today’s market. Lots of reasons why Lankshear would go for more, but come on… we must be the softest touch around.

Frankly, at £3m I’m surprised a PL club isn’t taking him as an investment and loaning him to somewhere like Preston. Ipswich were bidding over £20m for Azeez 18 months after leaving league one.

In a team that got relegated though. I think hed be a very good league one player. He was a bit hit and miss last season. He had a good month or two towards the back end of last season. Definitely not worth over 5mil for me, anything between 3-4 is good business.

We very well may need the money up front but just keeping the players does nothing for our balance sheet or getting us back on an even keel.

We will need to sell players to repair the damage done by 4 windows of atrocious squad planning by those in charge, and wasting of budget.

Just letting our club drift under an embargo without any remedial work on the finances is a very bad idea.

ET may be able to offset some against the stadium once that gets the go ahead but even that may not be enough so additional sales of assets may be needed, which is what we are seeing potentially now.

The level of certainty on the PNE forum is unnerving, but I'm not sure we should assume anything just yet.

While their throng of ITKers have said Mills and Tyreece Campbell are imminent for a couple of days now, they've also noted than Campbell was shown in training videos last night, and Alan Nixon responded to a message from one of them yesterday saying Mills was not having a medical (George Elek also responded saying he hadn't heard anything).

Not one of them had named this winger.

Particularly talking about the fee (and the figures quoted on the PNE forum are lower), it might be best to retain a bit of skepticism until the links have more substance.

What like
1 being a striker
2 ones had a very serious injury
3 ones represented England
4 being sold from a Premier league club while on a long contract

Yep I can see why one is worth a lot more than the other

How can you think there wasn’t a likelihood he’d be sold? He’d probably have gone even if we’d stayed up. The comment here at the moment are just ridiculous .

Where did you see Nixon reply? I can’t see any mention of Mills from him yesterday on Twitter but Im hoping I’m being blind

I do find it interesting that we're yet to have anything confirmed from the ITKs on Oxford's side, and there aren't any exclusives from the likes of Pete O'Rouke/Football Insider like there usually would be. All it takes is a couple of tweets though.

I think because people with pretty close links to the club believed that we wouldn't be selling outside those that we had no control over.

Selling Mills in itself would be fine and expected if this was a normal relegation situation. Or even if we'd stayed up, as you say. Selling Mills in a situation where we've been led to believe we want to hold onto our best players where possible (and have no means of replacing them). That's a bit different.

I don't think that's a ridiculous view personally.

There is still the small matter of how good they are in the current moment and what their ceiling might look like and I don’t think Lankshear is a multiple of 6x (plus) on Mills at all. Mills is quite a rare mix for a wide player.

I accept all those things you mention attract a premium and I’m not suggesting we get a similar fee, but if we part with Mills for £3m in our situation while other clubs sell players that haven’t kicked a ball outside L1 for £4-6m then we are, frankly, mugs.
