So if Mills goes maybe some of the clubs indirect PR department on here will realise they may have been told a few porkies!

Did some people really believe we would keep Mills no matter what offer came in? I don't get the reaction of some on here. I'll be gutted if he goes obviously but if it's at a silly price then it makes sense. If it isn't then that's another story.
Anything £3m+ is good business.

Clubs needs to be placed on a stable footing again.

If that means we struggle for a couple of years then so be it.

We’ve spent poorly and are now paying the consequences, not the fans fault but sadly the truth.

He’s done great for us and did enough last season to earn another stab at the Championship. It’s not all milk and honey with him though, he missed two massive late chances in successive home games v QPR and Bristol City - I think Bloomfield’s first two in charge - that should have turned two 0-0’s in to two victories and an extra four points. He weighs in with a few for sure but needs to improve his one on one finishing. Best of luck to him.

We're not an embarrassment. We're just skint. These things happen when you get relegated. Our biggest problem is we haven't been relegated for over 20 years and our fans are not used to it and struggling to accept the consequences.
Missing the point. We’d have all expected to lose Mills so let’s not gaslight the fans.

We aren’t skint according to Dusan - it’s a “timing issue”. He’s told us that we’ve entered an embargo by choice but will mitigate that by retaining everyone without a clause.

Lying to us is the norm (despite promising better days before), but lying to Ramsey and testing his resolve is another level of thick. The season starts on Saturday and by selling Mills we risk lighting a fire under that dressing room and I would imagine we are on thin ice with him as it is. Judging by Mills involvement in pre season, this is not someone Ramsey is expecting to lose.

You’d think therefore we’re at least doing a deal that lifts the embargo, but at a poxy £3m with still no ability to replace we may as well be donating him to Preston.

It’s nothing to do with Mills, it’s what selling him now represents. I for one don’t believe for a moment our problems are as shallow as Dusan suggests.

How do you know that they have lied to Ramsey ?
How do you know that it isnt actually mills who is doing the pushing for this absolutely unconfirmed rumour of a transfer
How do you know the fee is £3m

Answers on a postcard

Of course it is all speculation, but all the optimism built up by Ramsey and co throughout pre season is truly gone should we sell Stan for 3 million. We were all led to believe he would not be going anywhere, and Ramsey was too based on his interviews. I am sure more of us would be understanding if it was a large fee, I'm talking 5 million plus, however, for 3, what is the point?

Maybe because we as fans completely over state the value of our own players

Agree mostly. But only Erick knows if we are/will be on a stable footing. From the outside, it looks like we'd have to sell all of our players at 3m. Lucky we are owned by a wealthy businessman/people.
Speaking of which if your reading Erick can you recommend me a nice hotel in the shiny new business district in Jakarta, and would it be too much to ask for a discount code.

Really? It doesn’t seem tough for anyone else. Peterborough are getting rising to 6 million for a lad who had a decent 6 months in league one and nothing else.
But you’ve already stated all the Mills transfer £3m talk is speculation, so we have no idea what any real fee would be, or if he’s even going.

Our great transfer ITK @tatabanya even late last night put his/her reputation on the line by saying there was nothing in the Preston speculation on their site.

On the first, he’s admitted he knew nothing of the embargo before joining. He’s publicly said he’s committed on the basis the club have assured him nobody will be sold outside those we can’t control.

On the second, Mills has been heavily involved in pre season right to the last game which usually resembles something close to the expected team for the start of the season. By contrast, BDK hasn’t played a minute for a myriad of cover-up reasons.

No idea on the fee, I’m being led by others. If it’s, say, £5-6m then it would alter my view to some degree but let’s face it, Preston don’t spend that sort of money. It might be more than he’s worth but we aren’t in an ordinary selling state here. I still wouldn’t like the fact we’ve been lied to but I could understand backtracking for substantial money where we, for once, are the ones pulling pants down rather than having it done to us.

As I said, I hope it’s all noise and I’m praising the club for keeping their word at some point.

Is that actually confirmed or just like most transfer just a rumour
Have Peterborough come out and shown the deal

How do you know if this stan mills deal is correct that the deal isnt £3m now and rising to £6m

The only people who know that are the chairman owner of each club
Certainly isnt john from Preston

Ramsey handed in his notice in part of my dream last night, after Currie was sold. I hope it's not true, as we're buggered if we have to find ourselves a new manager now...

I won't bore you with the dream's other details. Unless that is genuinely of interest to anyone. No further OUFC content though.

I agree. In a world where a relatively limited midfielder (hardly scores) from Nottingham Forest is worth £130m then you do feel a young, quick, potential match winner from the league below (where he last played) has to be worth more than £3m - 43 x less the value of Anderson. I’m not obviously comparing the individual players but I am comparing the relativity in fees. £3m is ridiculous in today’s market. You couldn’t really split Mills and Lankshear last season as Championship performers, yet one has just left for a package of £20m while the other is only worth £3m ? Something not adding up.

On comparing to bdk how do you know mills didn't have a think over the weekend and on Monday say to the club id like to leave

"No one would leave outside those they cant control"
Well if a player wants to leave that is outside there control

Mills had a pretty average season last season though. 6 goal contributions only. Peterborough never sell their best assets on the cheap. Id be more than happy if we get 3-4 million for Mills.

If a player is in contract that's within our control. You can say no. Of course, you can argue whether that's a sensible thing to do

HMS Pisstheleague is still setting sail. The captain just need to balance his finances first and cash in on some of his prized assets to do so without sinking at the first sign of an iceberg. That may just take a little longer than the passengers hoped, but it will set sail. At some point.

Logically, Mills moving to a Championship club, getting a higher wage and playing at a higher level, makes sense for him. For Preston it would mean getting a talented young player with prospects. (If the fee were to be £3million, then they have a bargain)

For OUFC it would be a real blow to the squad and the chances of maintaining a decent position in League 1. It would unsettle players who had made concious decisions to stay when they could have, in most cases realistically, asked for a move. It would certainly place a question mark over the, not unequivically, stated aim of the club to retain players.
OxVox put it like this:
He (Dusan) said the club is not facing a cashflow issue but rather a timing issue. While this seemed slightly contradictory, we read this as meaning money was available but to pay it all by deadline it would have required selling some important player assets.
Note the 'some important player assets' that's more than one. More was to come:
Having reviewed the options available to us, we do not believe that large scale player sales is a prudent approach, and is one that could cause further harm moving forward.

Selling Mills, on his own, does not raise sufficient funds to remove the embargo, not even close and certainly not at £3million.

I say all this with some prejudice, I don't wish to see Mills depart. I cannot see how this is a good time for him to push for a move. I cannot understand why he would be so committed in pre-season and put in some outstanding performances if all he wants is to leave. Furthermore, if the club really wish to realise his potential then, surely, January is a better time to sell. Clubs will be looking for that key player to push on, he will have demonstrated his abilities and consistencies and hold a greater value.

What league is being pissed? Beazer Homes?

Well we need this embargo to be sorted out ASAP. Personally i think we will struggle. Especially if we lose our best players. Also players are gonna get injured and burnt out.

Yet there was people disagreeing with that very same point RE: BDK.

If nobody meets the release clause he most likely won’t leave.

Mills will have a valuation, I’d say £3m is a fair starting point. He’s not worth more than that currently & with our financial position a number that’s hard to turn down.

It isn’t if they are under contract and no clause guaranteeing their sale and why make the statement they did if so much of it is out of their hands?

I’m sure others wanted to leave, or would’ve at least asked the question upon relegation. It’s normal. At least if the answer is no across the board then there’s a level of fairness the players can lean in to. That gets dismantled the minute one gets special treatment.

It amazes me that anyone is remotely surprised by this. It’s about cash in ASAP and whilst likely we aren’t going to be taking the first offer, we aren’t going to be pushing particularly hard.

Erick is recouping some of his losses before/if he decides to go again. There is not a single player untouchable.

I suspect there’s bigger hits to come.
And last season you repeatedly referred to every player coming to the club as ' bargain bucket '

Another good point made to me elsewhere that I hadn’t really considered is what Everton take away from this.

~20% is the norm, I presume. But I’d imagine because of his condition when we bought him, the deal was lower on the fee (if much at all) and higher on the clauses.

So what if £3m is actually more like £2m or £1.5m…
