Transfer Window 26/27 Summer Embargo Window

The chairman and CEO refusing to meet the fans reps does not suggest technical reasons and that all will be well.

Erick has, for whatever reason, chosen to not deliver key funding probably at the time we’ve most needed it. That’s an inescapable fact.
Thats your view but a more realistic is Erick has said enough is enough. A change of chairman who understands the football industry, bringing in a manager who is extremely comfortable developing young players. The club has been haemorhagging cash for many years, player recruitment has been poor at best and the stadium development has stalled. We need to return to a more financially stable model and no player recruitment appears to be a reasonable gamble in a difficult time.
Most likely Thohir couldn't raise £16m in 30 days so we took the pain and hope that we can compete in League 1 with what we have got and not lose too many players in this transfer window.

And even then we will probably and should be league 1 ,the championship is and the clubs are massive who ever said we are a top 30 club ,really who makes up this sh..t
With the new stadium there is no reason why we can’t be an established championship club with the extra revenue the new ground would bring but right now, we are 100% a league 1 club and to be honest, I have no issue with that. We reached for the stars and it has nearly crippled the club due to lack of revenue the club can get.

Our total wage bill for the last accounts was £21m but that includes the chairman down to the programme seller

In scmp rules only first team players and manager coaches count towards the 65% all under 21 players also dont count towards the scmp rules
We had a squad of 36 players last season thats now down to 25(i think)
The list below are the 18 players released this summer:

Plus you don’t have history of posting qanon stuff …
Qanon? Hang on a second, it was Qanon adjacent at best. I don’t wish to derail this thread, but I seem to remember that, at the time, I was drawing attention to the (now well established) fact that aristocratic ‘elites’ were trafficking and abusing children for sport. After all that we have learned about Jeffery Epstein, Maxwell, Prince Andrew etc in recent years, are you seriously going to use that as an opportunity to point score on a transfer thread?

I don’t care if you take the p**s out of me for what I say about Oxford United, but if you’re going ridicule me and make a joke out of child abuse, you’re a f*****g weirdo..

Phillips ?

Disagree, until the new stadium is open we cant afford to be a championship club. We are better off staying in league 1 and limiting our annual losses. In my opinion, this is not the time we have needed key team funding the most. We need stadium funding much more.
If we were reducing our annual losses we would be selling assets and bringing the wage bill down. At the moment we are maintaining annual losses while refusing to prove that we can afford to do it.

I haven’t read all 181 pages but it might be a foolish question
But am I right in thinking we can’t bring in loan players ??

Thohir isn’t a charity, but they’ve ignored all the warnings and operated a business model as though he is. There is more to this than Thohir refusing to pony up a load of cash.

The squad is 15 players plus lighter.

I say put all players on the minimum wage then come out of the embargo immediately as Erik can cut the wage bill significantly to pay up . That’s the price for relegation!

I’m not ridiculing you, I was reflecting that I prefer to trust the information from people who aren’t prone to conspiracy theories, and your posting about Obama and hot dogs was utterly beyond the pale. By the way, I don’t like being accused of “making a joke out of child abuse” when I haven’t, so please don’t do that.

And wages have come down in line with relegation clauses too yes, but don’t mistake that for us being financially prudent given our revenue after relegation has also being cut dramatically. Our spend vs revenue coupled with inaction to bring costs down is not cost management, it’s another roll of the dice.

As I have stated on other threads - and fans need to comprehend this - the club is on life support at the moment until we know the result of the club’s application to build a new stadium. Of course we have received the green light but the legal challenges need to be thrown out.

Nobody knows at this juncture when the barrister for FoSB will be going before a judge in the High Court.

We are all in stasis at the moment, alas.

What are we rolling the dice for though, what's the aim? Promotion back to the champ? This will be an endless spiral until the stadium is built.

Yeah roll a six and we’re back in the Championship. Roll a 1 and we don’t exist anymore. That’s not a dice we should be rolling.

Agree. It doesn't make any sense at all. There must be a technical

I agree but what is the answer in order for Thohir not to lose his millions?

It’s what he signed up for, both by buying the club and then by increasing the spend and therefore losses. If he doesn’t want to foot the bill anymore then he has a responsibility to do so until he can find someone else to do it. If he’s struggling to do that, then he should really be cutting the wage bill, bringing in fees for players and taking the club away from the cliff edge.

Who’s ‘they’? Presumably the owners authorised all spending.

Shame because it would have been nice to have a local lad in the squad, but when you take that out of the equation, is it really that bad a signing to be missing out on? Time will tell obviously, but it's interesting that, just like the rumoured Mandron to Stevenage deal and Lisbie to Reading, our previously linked targets aren't courting interest from many other League One clubs in the promotion mix.

Probably the only outlier is Wintle to MK Dons as they're apparently loaded, but none of these players really scream Championship potential, and the biggest issue when we went up before was we were loaded with players who were good in League One but not good enough to take the step up to the Championship. Had our summer business been allowed to move on unimpeded (in the sense that we would have signed these free transfers as the fee-paying rumours dried up ages before the embargo came about), then we could again have been lumbered with a full squad but not with the required quality to go up and stay up. Retention of the core squad seems like the best bet, but it is also a shame we can't top that up with some promising youngsters from Premier League clubs.

Just I would put this out there to see if anyone knows if it’s true or not.
Heard last night that we have been very generous with our termination of contract fees.
For example Thornilley, Moore, Phillips etc.
To get them out of the door, plus others , we have paid a small fortune. When you think we have also paid off Buckingham Rowett and Bloomfield you can see where this overspend is coming from. Add that to the fact that we were playing players like Findlay way over the odds, no wonder we couldn’t get rid of him.
Are we playing players too much for what they have shown on the pitch ? Especially when loan players like Lankshear Konak and Nelson have proved what is possible.
Maybe Erick Thohir has thought I’ve had enough of this, and it’s time to pay sensible money. Having said that any transfer or departure has to be sanctioned via his team over there. It’s not Tim Williams or Grant Ferguson who were making the final decision
