If the tables showed we were 17th at the end of the season how the fcuk can that be a false position?

Yes, but he said the squad. We had a few, not many, players who were able to exploit quick turnovers and run at defences when we invariably looked to counter. Mills, BDK and Placheta the 3 who stand out in that regard. Mills won't be afforded as much space as he was, he'll be running into a low block of 7/8 defenders a lot this season, same for Emakhu. If we really want to be able to dominate, we need to be able progess play through the middle of the pitch, not just out wide. L1 sides would laugh their heads off if we got the ball wide and pumped balls in at every opportunity, it's what they would have trained for all week in preparation. We need a bit of finesse in the final third, someone who can come inside as well as go outside, play a ball into a striker's feet and run beyond them. We have no one of that profile in our squad, we're severely lacking in players who can unlock a defence. We're lacking in players who can really rough up centre halves and give us an option to feet and in behind. It's why Slattery and Wareham would have been so perfect for what we need but it looks like we've missed out on both.

Harris is a great example of a good League One forward. He embodies the gap between the Championship and League One as much as anyone in our squad.

I’d say the bulk of our squad are a similar level to Harris, with a few exceptions that elevate it. Hence pretty confident we’ll be around the top 6 next year if Ramsey’s capable enough.

How was it a false position? Its where we finished after 46 games playing each team home and away. What happened the following season doesn't prove anything, the actual league table from 24/25 is the only proof of where you deserved to finish.

You truly have lost sight of what you are trying to say.

I think you are trying to say we really didn't finish 17th and stay up in our first season in the Championship because you personally felt we should have been relegated.
I can not think of any other explanation for what you are saying.
Please correct me if I am wrong so I can better understand what you mean.

Plus, of course, there is the factor that other clubs will raise their game against former Championship Oxford United. We will be a scalp for several other sides, not least MK Dons in the opening game. It's important that we got the ground running just for our own confidence levels

We've been here before.

We've had a quite a few windows now of the roller coaster of "do something" to "All hail Waldron"

I don't think the lack of news is helping, maybe the club should just sign someone to calm everyone down.

I would try and argue with you, but then I'd worry that you'd think I thought there was some merit in your view so I'll let you carry on shouting into the void
 
Think looking on paper today our squad is at a level to have a good tilt at a promotion run. With some sizeable caveats:

- Our striker situation is reliant on unproven/inconsistent players
- We have no true backup goalkeeper
- Our manager is unproven and we're unsure of the system he wants to play

In addition to that, there's also the question mark around focusing on our recruitment to simply get out of the division, or whether we want to blood players who could improve and make up the bulk of a Championship squad. Plus the risks of losing some of our better players to bigger sides (Currie, Mills etc).

As always I'd expect the squad to be bolstered toward the end of the window as squads are settled for Prem/Champ clubs and loans become more available. So wouldn't be that concerned if we don't make a lot of incomings during pre-season as long as key players don't leave.
 
Digby is certainly not digging, Digby is being very straightforward, more to the point what went wrong?
So far a shambles thank goodness we have changed the board, the owner has unlimited resources but even he can now see we need a firm hands on approach where finances is concerned. Maybe you think money grows on Trees , we want value for money in players (take Goodwin as an example) and lesser Dembele 1.5million plus agents fees which we seem to ignore , wake up and smell the coffee . I don’t care who the player is VALUE FOR MONEY is a must !

It's bigger than that. If it wasn't, no relegated club would ever go down again the following season, they'd be too good, but we've seen that plenty of times.

Players come down bruised. They also don't always respect the level at which they now play their football because they feel they belong somewhere else. Some might even feel the club let them down last year, which would be true. There's a tonne of mental hurdles here that we have to overcome. It's far from impossible and I'm not trying to make this out to be some insurmountable task but you can't just plug & play a fallen side in to the division below and magically go back up because you have 3 or 4 big players.

Cardiff have gone up with a worse squad than ours. Luton & Plymouth on the other hand have comparable sides and achieved nothing. It's not an exact science and a lot depends on how quickly Ramsey can put the past in the past, knowing nothing about it from his personal experience, and get these players invested in what's in front of them.

It absolutely can be done and should be done more often than it is, but to expect it by default is unrealistic to say the least.

His contract ran out, he told them he wouldn't be signing a new one. You can't release someone who has no contract and doesn't want to sign a new one.

Do you really think we would be signing a fourth division teams offcast? What would be the point of that? Do you think any of ours will end up in the championship?

We start a new season, with at last, a professional coaching set up in place, hopefully that should ensure that the players are fit and ready to go.
New tactics and hopefully a more intensive pressing's games. That should get us all on our feet.
