No. That's not true, is it?
Eastwood is not good enough. Wasn't back then, isn't now. However, a third keeper who will never get close is better than wasting thousands per week on an experienced understudy, when you also have a young kid itching to be involved
I don’t think anyone is saying don’t sign a new keeper, just other areas should be prioritised if we have a limited budget. Cumming could play all season and if we sign a back up it could be considered a waste of a wage. But if Cumming gets injured and we haven’t signed a player pushing to start it would be considered neglectful.Same thing applies.
Cumming gets injured and not to worry because we've got a keeper who isn't good enough and a super keen kid!!!
RR scored 9 in 44 the season we went upLast time we were in League 1 we had a creative no. 10 in Ruben Rodrigues, who has now helped Bolton to promotion. Have we ever replaced him?
Also we may not play a ‘number 10’ so much if Brian is backRR scored 9 in 44 the season we went up
Tyler 8 in 40 .
I'm sure that TG will revel back in league one as a no 10
The club were guilty last year of the same thing. At best it’s unprofessional and at worst it’s negligence. It’s very basic. It is nevertheless a legal requirement for it to be submitted and appears to be overdue from the end of February. The fact that no strike off action has been started and all other submissions have been made on time presumably means this is an ongoing controlled process but as to why you wouldn’t submit on time who knows
Of course will be interesting the formation the new boss / coaching team go forAlso we may not play a ‘number 10’ so much if Brian is back
He was. But now he's 37, hasn't played in the past 2 seasons and only played 2 League One games the previous year. We've kept him on as a coach and a training keeper, he's a player in name only and he'd be the first to tell you that.Eastwood is fine as a backup keeper at this level and an out of contract keeper coming in to cover a long term injury wouldn’t have to be cold as Eastwood could play a couple of games until they’re ready.
Actually in a recent interview he said that he thought he’d still be useful in League One, but that’s not the only reason I said it, I also said previously that I would be happy with a young keeper - if it works and he pushes Cumming that’s great, but if it doesn’t and we have to rely on a perfectly capable 37 year old I’d be okay with that. I’d be a lot less okay with it if we weren’t talking a punt on a young keeper at the same time.He was. And in terms of coming in cold, keepers are more than shot-stoppers now so you can't just drag and drop one into a team like you used to be able to. They start the attacks, marshal the defence at set pieces and are used a lot more with the ball at their feet. When we sign two players for every position to cover off for things like form, fitness and injuries, I just don't get why we wouldn't have in-house cover for Cumming when surely we wouldn't want to be using him in the early EFL Trophy games this season?
Toe-curling incompetence is what it is. Once is careless. Twice consecutively when you know (from experience!) the punishment is an impact on transfers mid window is beyond embarrassing. The club were guilty last year of the same thing. At best it’s unprofessional and at worst it’s negligence. It’s very basic.
Incidentally they are hard things to miss too. HMRC notify you via email and post (multiple times in-fact) in the event of one being late. Someone would most likely need to avoid opening letters for months or one individual is brazenly refusing to do it. I can’t think of any other reason.
In my view it’s simply a money-making exercise by HMRC, to the tune of £50! That being said, it’s a bit amateur.
Isn't this Companies House rather than HMRC?The club were guilty last year of the same thing. At best it’s unprofessional and at worst it’s negligence. It’s very basic.

All true. Has nothing to do with HMRC but the filing of a confirmation statement is a legal requirement . No basis or agreed reasons for delay are acceptable to Compnies House. Whether they have an unofficial greater tolerance this year due to the ID verification who knows?Isn't this Companies House rather than HMRC?
Also it's not late accounts, rather the Confirmation Statement where you confirm the Directors and company addresses etc.
I know it has got more complicated this year as the Directors / Persons With Significant Control have to provide Identity Verification which is quite a convoluted process involving scanning your passport/driving licence and a facial scan as well to get a verification ID. Could well be quite difficult for the owners as they won't have the British ID etc.
I had issues at our company because one of the Directors was listed with his middle name on the PSC page, but without his middle name on his Directorship page. The two records then don't match and the identity verification doesn't link.
No flexibility regarding the ID - they notified those that needed to do it yonks ago.All true. Has nothing to do with HMRC but the filing of a confirmation statement is a legal requirement . and ironically the only two directors that have done it are the two new guys appointed in MayNo flexibility regarding the ID - they notified those that needed to do it yonks ago.
Total kneejerk overreactionToe-curling incompetence is what it is. Once is careless. Twice consecutively when you know (from experience!) the punishment is an impact on transfers mid window is beyond embarrassing.
Based on little knowledge ( see believeland's explanation above)Total kneejerk overreaction
Not really. Is it too much to ask them to learn from their mistakes at some point and start acting professionally? If this were an isolated incident it still isn't great, but it might water down the reaction. However, this is one of several errors that have left us needlessly brushing with Governing bods. No evidence yet that this is impacting transfer business but is that what has to happen to justify calling it out? Tim has the easiest job in football it seems.Total kneejerk overreaction
I disagree with your first paragraph, ID checks for overseas individuals is pretty straightforward, even when required urgently - as long as they are happy with the scrutiny of course. This whole confirmation statement being overdue is a non-story - it's extremely difficult to get the ID checks through for overseas individuals, Companies House's own system is failing continuously and loads of company's are in the same boat as OUFC.
In addition to that, the EFL are only interested in the statutory accounts being filed on time and their own internal reports (which I assume the club are up to date with but we will never know).
Club's do not get embargoed for overdue confirmation statements.
The first issue that will come up with be the club's bank, which will potentially pause the account if it remains overdue in 3 months time.
HMRC are not involved in the process at all.
I got the two Directors to do the initial verification ID months ago. However you then get a two week time slot to match the ID to your record at Companies House. Assuming you actually printed off and saved the verification ID.No flexibility regarding the ID - they notified those that needed to do it yonks ago.
and the only other UK football clubs with overdue confirmation statements are Larne and RangersI disagree with your first paragraph, ID checks for overseas individuals is pretty straightforward, even when required urgently - as long as they are happy with the scrutiny of course.

Great news. The only reason plenty of people- including me- gave him a lot of slack is because he has great technique and obvious ability. But with Tiendalli-esque pace, and a reluctance to get involved if it meant being tackled, his contribution was always going to be very limited. If the transfer fee is true, can only assume Fortuna Sittard haven't seen him play in the last 18 months.
