I was thinking perhaps we won't get hammered as seems to be expected by many. Then I saw who the ref was. If you want reminding go and look at some of our comments on Ref Watch v WBA earlier this season. I will be watching on Sky + possibly from behind the sofa.

But we start 11 v 11 or 12 v 11 and we start at 0-0. We will probably have to give our best display away so far to get anything. But if we do that anything is possible.

First game that I’m absolutely dreading 😬

But we have a very resilient squad. They’ve been coming up short for a while but players come back changes things a little, Come on boys!

Ps I also think Leigh’s early and accurate crossing into Scarlett’s natural finishing could end up being a deadly combo for us this season

Are refs not allowed to improve or have had an off day?

The thing is, as I remember it the ref was terrible but he made mistakes for both sides.

I know we’re not supposed to talk about things being ‘levellers’ in this game but I’d rather have a terrible ref in a game we’re likely to lose, than in a game we should win. You never know, he might send their keeper off and give us a dodgy penalty in the first minute…

Are supporters not allowed to be wary of a ref who appeared to walk a line between incompetence and outright negative bias?
If course but do think refs get blamed for a hell of alot. When they just are human and make errors same as Moore at Boro made a mistake.

Sadly Chris Wilder will be enjoying a win ,I can see 4-1 and getting closer to the bottom 3.Or could we surprise them ?

Can’t see beyond an improved performance but a 3-0 defeat to a far superior team. No expectations beyond this - so I won’t be making the long journey home too disappointed.

This is the team I’d like to see of what’s available. It’s the most balanced and gets round pegs in round holes across the pitch and no reason it should leak goals.

I wouldn’t be at all opposed to seeing Golding given a chance at centre back for the additional height against Kieffer Moore, I’ve always thought he’s looked a very competent player and Long had a nightmare on Saturday. Risky, brave, stupid, who knows. Won’t happen.

Hopefully Kioso is back, Scarlett is a must and I’d rather see McEachran in there for the first hour while we settle in to the game. It’s time we put Rodrigues in his best position.

After an hour I’d move Brannagan up, Vaulks on for Ruben and Phillips off for Placheta or even Marselino. And for goodness sake, can Goodwin at least get 15 minutes today?

3-0 loss is what I’m expecting but as ever hoping for more. A good performance is a must to restore some belief ahead of Saturday.

I am hopeful of a sneaky win. We must concentrate on us not what the ref does. On Saturday we all thought dodgy penalty and offside 3rd goal but the officials were tight. Remain focused on what we do well and just get the win. Simples.

I’m really surprised a few fans - on other threads - appear to be giving up on this one. Bar Sunderland, we’ve been well in every single away game right to the end. We have to get the strongest side we possibly can on that pitch and believe we can get something - no holding anything back, this is another game to get a crucial point or three towards safety. I thought these were the games we wanted to get promoted for? With respect, was Preston at home or Millwall at home really the mouth watering games we couldn’t wait to see walking out of Wembley in May? Leeds away, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Burnley etc - they were the names and stadiums that I couldn’t wait to see. Here we are, embrace it, enjoy it and believe we can get something. Sat at home watching it from behind the sofa wasn’t what I had in mind after Wembley and it isn’t what I intend doing now we are where we longed to be!

despite Doughty being the referee and the Blades being unbeaten at home , tonights the night we get our first away win back in the championship, 1-2 with a late winner to clinch the points
