Time to stand up and be counted, both in the stands and on the pitch. I'll be doing my bit and I bloody well expect the team to be doing the same.

Rather than say it's a must win, I'll say it's a pivotal match for our season. Go out there like lambs to the slaughter and we'll lose and confirm every online blogger's opinion that we're relegation fodder.

Go out there on the front foot, and get at them, and we can spoil their big day, win the game, and look back on a six point week, with an 18 point gap between us and Sheff Wed. We'd probably move up three or four places in the table, whilst somebody else starts looking over their shoulders while we look at the places above us and ease our pressure.

Yep. This feels like one of those season defining games. Which Oxford will turn up though? This is a game where Oxford need to shut out the noise and focus on the job in hand. GR is so experienced. He’ll get this and instill it in the team. My heart says a 1-0 win but my head says a frustrating 0-0.

I feel it isn’t so much the result as the performance
If we play like we did v Derby and their goalkeeper has a world class performance and we concede late on after Cumming hasn’t made a save, that is totally different to the game v Wrexham
I know fans on here would want Rowett out but for me it’s the manner in which we perform and I will be looking for a really good display today

I've got to say I'm quite excited now. At the very least it's going to be a cracking atmosphere and it could be a very special day indeed if we beat them, which, let's be honest, we are entirely capable of.

Thanks for the A34 message @ECYellow. Setting off 10 minutes earlier as a result (Waze takes me up past Wheatley to join the M40 by the services).

Travelling in hope rather than anticipation - I just hope Rowett doesn't set us up to be too defensive. Would rather get at them and Josh Ruffels their feathers early on. I think that we're now the underdogs will help us as we seem to play better then. COYFY

Let’s also not forget it’s Wednesdays reserves and U21s mainly. Only Barry Bannan and maybe a handful of others would be anywhere near their starting 11 in a normal season after everything that’s gone on.

They have been performing better than expected and this is no easy game, but we’ve got to win this, pure and simple, and play with intensity and in a manner where we take the game to them and don’t try and scrape a 0-1 with another insipid display.

Was confident & hopeful a week or so ago.
Wednesday's diabolical showing & the Sheffield news yesterday has all the hallmarks of an embarrassment written all over it .
I hope Rowett takes the shackles off & goes for it.

Spent my drive into London this morning listening to last night’s radio Sheffield sports special on BBCsounds. Really got to feel for them with all they’ve been through but it’s so frustrating, typical and annoying that Middlesbrough get to play them in an empty stadium and as soon as we turn up it’s the biggest crowd and game in years and a whole new mind-set.
Money spent in the ground WILL go towards the club now which has a big financial black hole to fill so they are encouraging as much food and drinks sales as possible.
But let’s spoil their party today and get at them from the off; they can save their efforts for the big local derby against CW.

I put this on the pre match thread, but just checking if we can purchase on the day?

Yes, the atmosphere will be rocking and their crowd will be up for it…..

……but they are still going to have 2-3 kids playing, with a bench that’s full of youth teamers. One of their strikers has played 44 games since they signed him permanently and still hasn’t scored. They are not a Championship quality football team.

We need to stand up strong and play our game. We’ll win if we perform.

Bit late maybe, but A34N closed from Peartree to M40.
Long queues, so avoid .

A chance that some of their less experienced players may freeze in front of a suddenly bigger crowd than they are used to?

I know I’m replying to myself but wanted to add that if the opposite happens and we put in another dire performance and Cumming pulls off some wonderful saves and we only have 30% possession but Nick it with a penalty in the last minute I would be more worried
