Away Match Day Thread +++ 24/08/2019 L1: Bristol Rovers FC v OUFC +++

Very disappointing to be honest given the high expectations we all had.
The urgent need for a striker who knows where the net is and also some provision of crosses from midfield.
Long hard season ahead with two or three teams showing they have all it takes to end up with success in May

It can only get better! Big game next Saturday against Cov.
Dare I say it, a ”must win”....?!?!

Bet KR is peeling the paint off of the dressing room wall - no one is out for warm downs yet.

Knowing us even if we play against Bolton’s kids we will either draw or lose would just be our luck

KR - sounds like he is covering for players

Difficult week? yes it has, we've played poorly, didn't ask enough questions of the keeper. 4 goals conceded from outside of box. Cannot complain about players attitudes, but not taken chances. Missed 2 blatant penalties on Fosu. Their 1st goal was not a free kick - rue the small margins.

We look like we aren't making right decisions at times. if players don't cross, we can't criticise players not there. We've had better chances but lost. Ask more questions of their keeper.

Won't dig players out. Every team will go thru periods of how did we lose this? Doesn't mean it is good enough - Cam and Matty with Groins = pitch sounded bad. Cam not badly injured, hopefully. Not playing Tuesday. Some players are struggling. Balls seems to drop on wrong side of players.

Their keepers screams at set pieces and free kick given. Hope things happen sooner rather than later.

Taylor will have a scan on Monday. Does not regret starting him, felt great, trained well. Taylor almost doing too much - very peculiar decisions from Ref on Taylor in first half. Elbowed early.

Cooper asking if players need digging out for a reaction to playing badly. Not always way to deal with things, speaking softly resonates more than shouting. Self discipline is hurting us. Forwards become disconnected when we struggle in games. Need to look at welfare of players because of fatigue.

We learn from today about fine margins that control games. We need to stop going for a perfect goal, conceding all sorts against us. It wlll come - can do without game on Tuesday? Yes. May compromise team for next Saturday. Moore - happy with him today, dealt with oppo well.

Daniel is now fit - but 7 days away. Baptise - yes

A worrying loss of form, and our sudden defensive frailties are a big concern, but we CAN turn this around, we've got the players, we just need to tweak a few things here and there, and I'm optimistic we can get ourselves going again.

We've shown how good we can be when everyones fit and playing well, and we've still got Agyei, Baptiste and Thorne to come yet, which will massively improve the squad.

I'm not panicking just yet...

“We were the better team.”
“Turn these good performances into victories.”
“Decision making of the referee.”

I’d love to be at the games he’s watching.
Kinnburgh is very perceptive and picking holes in kr’s approach to the game.
