Ok I’m sorry I’ve just seen the goals and I agree definite penalty and onside. Our view is a difficult one the offside looked blatant but it was the correct decision like wise with the penalty our view was the ball had crossed the line before the challenge.
I stand corrected

Had to chuckle at some folks on here criticising Cumming’s performance yesterday.
Perhaps they may have been looking away when he made at least 5 point blank saves.
He was man of the match yesterday by a country mile.
Without him between the sticks, the score would have been well into double figures.😳
Yep, I was a bit harsh on him yesterday. He is player of the season by an absolute landslide at the moment.

I suspect it will be like the year Richard Knight won by virtue of stopping pastings becoming absolute annihilations mind.

It’s weird, when I saw the tv highlights, whilst I was still in agreement with the onside, it actually looked a lot closer than I thought in real time.

I thought Richard Knight mainly won as a protest vote of sorts after a horrendous season when we conceded 100+ goals, I think?
No he was our best player that season by miles, and honestly deserved a medal playing behind McGuckin, Jarman, Robertson and McGowan and keeping it to just the 100 goals.

I think he was that traumatised he quit football soon after to become a fireman!

You started so well but couldn't then help yourself.

The set up is just a little too obvious, the punchlines a little too stale. Trolling is an art and it feels like you've been off your game for a while.

I’m not sure what’s wrong there Scotchers. I judge goalkeepers by virtue of how many goals they let in.

Likewise strikers. I don’t judge being in a great position, or making great runs. I judge how many times that onion bag bulges.

Cumming is saving a lot of goals. He is also letting a lot in. It’s similar to Richard Knight.

my only consolation is that if we do badly perhaps your child/partner/dog doesn't have to put up with your toxicity.
Are you seriously suggesting that because he’s negative on here, you think he abuses his wife or kids?

I’m shocked that the mods haven’t got involved with this one. Seriously crossing a line here.

Richard Knight was rubbish, but massively overrated by our fans for some reason. Indeed, when we brought in another keeper on loan (Cutler) midway through the season to try and improve that position, our fans went mad and gave Cutler dog's abuse, as if it was all his fault. That season was so toxic.

Anyway, Knight played 1 (one) further match at football league level after that season before dropping down to Didcot Town. (Cutler played another seven years in the league, including a couple at Championship level).

Honestly, our fans are so clueless at times.

It could be argued that 1 win in 11 isn’t a knee jerk reaction.

I do think some people need to get away from this feeling of just being happy to be in the league, mentality. We are here on merit and we done bloody well to earn that right, under Des’s leadership.

We must grasp the opportunity to stay at the level and shipping 6 goals at home, will do nothing to aid our cause.

On a side note, talk of O’Donkor or Negru coming back in during the window, to add squad depth is laughable. Neither were at the level consistently to start games in League 1 and those that were are now finding it increasingly difficult to be good enough to get points on the board.

Equally fans would also be realistic in what is capable in one transfer window. We aren’t going to do an Ipswich with this squad nor are we resourced enough to regarded as ones to definitely avoid the drop. Everyone needs to realise that 21st is the aim and relegation is not fatal to our existence.

Go down fighting with Des and I’ll more than happy to keep him. That may change if results like the Boro game become the norm and start to occur for teams at the bottom of the table hitting us for three, four, five or six a game. I don’t reckon that will happen.

We got stuffed. Simples.

I think the class difference between championship L1 and Championship L2 was on show yesterday and we are Championship L2. The speed and skill levels of the borough wide men was awesome. (and their No9 wasn’t too shabby either).

Never mind, move on…nice easy one Tuesday with Chippie’s blades!

(Perhaps take a few lessons from my equally inconsistent B team? They did ok against Citeh yesterday and gave the champions a bit of a shock…One can only hope.😉

COYYs!
I totally agree in the main. And it’s obviously a lot easier to say sitting a couple pints deep in the east stand rather than being on the pitch having to actually play them! But the annoying thing for me about yesterday was that we’ve showed this season that, as much as your second para might be true, we’ve had the game plan and the nous to keep similar sides at bay. Burnley and West Brom both have at least comparable squads to Boro, but we got good points in those games by staying calm and resolute and, crucially, staying in the game.

The collective headloss yesterday was the first of its kind we’ve seen and is the concern. We’re better than that.

I think we can complicate it if we want, but I say it was very simple in the end.
As physical beings, Boro were streets ahead. Faster, stronger, fitter more aggressive, more dynamic. Technically they were also very good and they punished us. That’s nowt to do with Carrick, Buckingham, Training methods etc etc. that’s Natural selection and what £££ can buy you.

As the season is progressing we are seeing a natural order. We are going to need to make a real go of it vs maybe 7 or 8 teams.
I’m afraid to say we can write Tuesday off. I’m not being critical and I think we are doing a sterling job in the circumstances but realistic expectations are going to be helpful for all of us I think.

That’s just nonsense. Their second was middle to corner of the goal, absolutely saveable with better positioning. Faultless obviously for the penalty and the dubious third goal. The one straight after half time he’s been caught out by a bouncing shot to his near post. The fifth is a bit like the second, a decent strike but not hit with unbelievable power. I think on both the second and fifth Cumming was expecting the ball to go across him and in to the far post hence why he’s been a bit slow down when the player has reversed it low down to his right. The sixth is another shot of not exceptional power, at a nice height. Again, I think he’s anticipating that shot to come across him and in to the far corner.

Unfortunately some fans can get away with murder on here.

It was a staggering accusation and it does make you wonder what needs to be said to get a message from the mods.

I enjoy a bit of banter on here, but this overstepped the mark by such a huge distance….

Just catching up on this thread, and I'll point out that if people don't actually report things to us, it might take a while for any action to take place, assuming one of us spots it in the first place.

We try to keep an eye on things during our free time, we aren't employed to do this. And suggestions that we have favourites are very wide of the mark, and not on.

I made no allegations of abuse- clearly you derive a great deal of pleasure in posting on here when Oxford are doing badly- several people referring you as a troll.

When the club does well you are nowhere to be seen.

You clearly get some thing from your malign energy-and I was just wondering what you do with it when the club you claim to support does well- because it’s certainly not visible on here. Maybe you are cvlunteering at a foodbank - and rush back to post when you hear we’ve conceded.

Think Neil Cutler most us a lot of goals that season when he took Knights place for a while, couldn't believe I saw him in a play off semi final for Stoke at Cardiff a few years later

Apologies Steve, it was out of order from me and I really appreciate the work you all put in.

Fair enough - didn’t mean to offend and happy that my original post has been edited. You may want the quoted post edited or not. I’m happy to leave it Entirely up to you.

We’re all brimming with gratitude for him getting us here and perhaps he’s now a victim of his own success. Not his fault necessarily, but regardless of budget there is a job to do here which is to keep us in the league and we’re getting to a pivotal point in the season where the club has to decide whether the team is in the right hands not just to stay up but stabilise at the level. I don’t think for a minute the owners had 4th from bottom in mind as a good result.

When the chips are down you look for the signs of hope and lean on track record, of which there is very little.

I’m not saying he can’t, because of course he could, I’m saying it’s a monumental gamble for our owners to stake their future plans in someone who’s never proven they can.
Until we start spending millions of pounds on multiple players then 4th from bottom is exactly where we can expect to be.

Absolutely, when it was reported, it was dealt with within 40 minutes.

As @SteMerritt says, we do try to catch things, but you lot post a hell of a lot, so it's easy to miss things
