Excited for this one. Our last 'big' Championship away result was one of my best days as an away fan (Leicester). Suspect given Southampton's form this is more likely, at best, to go down the Boro or Cov 'backs to the wall' routes, but a win would be monumental.

Southampton have coughed up a few poor results to teams in the lower reaches of the table recently (that last gasp draw v West Brom; a draw at Fratton in January; going 3-0 down to Leicester (before admittedly winning 4-3); a draw at home to Charlton last month), so it's not as if they're untouchable. We've shown we can grind out results, and our confidence will be high after a strong run of results. Absolutely no reason we can't aim to get something here.

An optimistic 1-1 (Brannagan).

Blackburn born Ben Toner is today’s referee at St. Mary’s .

Previously in charge of the U’s home draws with Leicester and Middlesbrough earlier this season.Has been a Championship referee since 2022-23.

I know this will be controversial, but I'm of the opinion that I would play Ingram in goal today. I can honestly say that Cumming hasn't filled me with a great deal of confidence recently. Yes,I know we've had some clean sheets but Cumming has been flapping at the ball and doesn't seem to be commanding the area as he should do. There were a couple of times last weekend, especially in the first half, when Helik then Brown expected Cumming to gather the ball and he didnt and bit of panic ensued. Whether it's down to loss of confidence or a just loss of form, I don't know but I'd give Cumming a rest.

The sun is shining on this spring Saturday morning, a huge contingent of the yellow army heading to the south coast to roar the U's on, feeling confident for a hard fought, battling performance, 0-1 with a late winner to bring 3 precious points back home up the A34

We’ll convert a couple of those chances we often get in the first few minutes. Then we’ll get a ridiculously soft penalty just before half time. Backs to the wall second half with a full 30 mins with 11 men stuck in our 6 yard box. A comedy Saints own goal in time added on results in a 0-4 result for the mighty Us.

I'm with you. Just as it's widely said that a team should defend from the front, I also think teams should attack from the back. Ingram's distribution is so good compared with Cumming's that he would really be an asset if we were playing to win. He would manage to get the ball to the right player to make a difference, rather than just lumping it up the field and waiting for it to come straight back.

Of course, if we're going to sit back and play defensively (like we did at Coventry) then Cumming is probably the man for the job.

But I'm not a professional so what would I know. I'll just cheer for whoever is playing and hope for the best.

Yes Cumming has been a flapper since he's been here,.A part of the game, as well as his kicking needs to really improve..
Anyhow today is a big one in many ways, let's not lose but a victory would be absolutely brilliant.
Have a sneaky feeling .
COME ON !!!!!!!!!💛💙

I have seen the future.
And the future is
YELLOW
or possibly black or pale blue (turquoise?)

I'm waiting for the Matchday post so I can get dressed :ROFLMAO:

2 - 1 to the blokes in yellow.

Finn Azaz to get an early lead for Southampton, Lankshear to even it up on 55 mins getting on the end of a beauty of a cross from Mills, only for Brannagan to score a thunderkunt in injury time to secure the 3 points.

💛💛

Shortest away day for me, Daughters 1st ever away game. Really hoping we have a good crack at them today. Go out there give it absolutely everything on the pitch and in the stands 💛💛💛
@stu_tay hope it proves to be a brilliant day for you and your daughter.

You do realise a U's win means you'll have to take her to all the remaining away games ;)

The sun is shining it's a lovely spring morning feeling positive for today 3008 yellows in the away end let's bring those 3 points home with us today

How are the trains out of Oxford? Currently stuck at Reading waiting for the Bournemouth train! Hearing there are trespassers on the track between Banbury & Oxford?
