 2026/27 - L1 confirmed teams

I’d be wary of any of the teams that have made the playoffs too. Three of those won’t be going up and all seem to be on an upward trajectory in recent seasons.

Maybe Stevenage and Stockport you’d start to expect some drop off but Bradford with Graham Alexander at the helm and Bolton, who still smart at being this low in the pyramid, should be competitive.
 
There are going to be other teams up there competing for promotion, be a strange league if not, if you want to get promotion you have to deal with that. Doesn’t look, and most likely won’t be, any stronger or weaker than normal, it will just depend on how good a team/squad we can assemble.

If it had been Crawley, Northampton or Port Vale then they wouldn't be let off.

Nice to know the Football League confirm they don't give a s**t about the integrity of their own competition.

Leicester should be talking to their lawyers as the implementation of League rules is optional for the FL.
 
Would love for Stockport to do it. It'll be #TeamsLikeStockport for their entirety of their time up there, but gotta root the underdog (when it's a harmless club like theirs, as opposed to one with a history full of dickheads)!

Stockport if they don’t go up will be in amongst it next season, plus if they beat Bolton it’ll be funny to see them lose another play-off final

My cousin who lives up in those parts decided when we were 12 that he was going to be different from all the Man Ure and City fans at his school and start supporting Stockport instead. We even went to a match together when I visited during half-term. 2 weeks later he was back to supporting Man Ure.

He claims not to remember any of that, but I like to remind him.
 
I know Stockport Co. have a terrible record at Wembley, but….

Well its not much different travel wise to Bolton is it. Considering where they have been you would think there fans would be all over the biggest game they have played for 30 years or more years. I suppose all the casual fans have been hoovered up in that area.
 
The main difference is exactly that - the casual fans. We don't have 30k diehard Oxford fans, but that many tens to make it to Wembley whenever we go. Why? Because the many casual fans like the idea of a big day out at Wembley, which really isn't that far away from Oxford, so is a fun day out. If you're a casual fan, you're not making the trip down from Stockport. Bolton are arguably a bigger club, so undoubtedly will bring more fans.
 
Stockport is on the fast train line from London to Manchester - and is under 2 hours from London, compared with just under three from Bolton (with changes). There are parts of Sussex that are harder to get to London from than Stockport - albeit rail fairs are more expensive from Stockport and need to be booked in advance. 12,500 is a pretty poor showing.

Stockport took 19k for the Abomination Trophy final and this is a far more important a game. Even if some of them don't do Wembley twice, they should be getting near the same and really beating it.
