As long as we then don't make any attempts at signing new players, and just accept almost certain relegation once we're up there, then yeah, we could turn a tasty profit from a year of higher gates, sponsorships and TV rights. Could be quite a lucrative business plan. Get promoted with absolutely no intention of staying up.

Have changed my vote to consolidate in the league. I fear we will now lose a couple of big names but still have enough to be decent (basing this on instinct rather than facts).

All of this shows how massive the new stadium project and I think if this is properly underway and funded this year then I am happy. I will take short term pain for long term sustainability.

Norwich had a spell doing that with the EPL. Fund the promotion winning campaigns from EPL monies and then cut the cloth accordingly when there. The main issue is that the yo-yo has stopped going up and down.

I've said in another thread that, at the Kassam Stadium, the best we can hope for is League 1 as we are almost entirely reliant on owners to fund us there. Having a revenue-generating stadium could unlock extra lines on the P+L. Maybe not vast numbers but something alongside what the owners put in.

Staying up is now the aim for me. I can't see how anyone can think a squad that was relegated with a rookie manager and almost no strikers will someone challenge.

Well if we do lose more players and end up like Sheff Weds last season we’ll be in the bottom four at Christmas… we just have to hope we are able to strengthen then. It’s a hell of a gamble and it’s not not clear to me whether Erik is unable to fund us for some technical or procedural reason or because he no longer wants to.

Difficult to say. If things go well under AR, and he can get an extra 20% out of some of the players, and we avoid too many injuries, plus a reset in January once the embargo is sorted, then we could be looking at a top 6 finish.

The flip side though is that AR is a rookie head coach unfamiliar with Lge1, some of the squad feel they’d rather move on, we get an injury to our one recognised striker (who has been fortunate and avoided injury for 3 years), and we’re down in the relegation mire.

On balance, I’m going for a bottom 8 finish but a really strong push the following season as we look forward to moving into the new stadium.

I think we’re in for quite a sobering summer, and many players will be leaving. Relegation battle ahead of us methinks unfortunately.

Depends on who and how many players we start the season with and injuries along the way. If we lose any more strikers then it will be a huge struggle no matter how much partial depth we have in other positions. We will either battle in the mid table or this could be a devastating relegation. This is not an easy league and teams in difficulties off the pitch who are handicapped always seem to struggle.

I feel we’ve been duped into renewing the season tickets some what, whilst appreciate there are costs involved for the owners, thought Bloomfield would be the manger and we were going to have a good go at promotion. Seems things are unraveling now. Still, it is what it is! I intend to make the most of it now, be good to see some local youth talent in the match day squad and at least we still have a club, for now anyway!!

Far too early to make any expectations/predictions. Park this for a month and then revisit again !!

So what has happened is why I posted the above comment.
A person I occasionally chat to (club link) alluded to the money tap being turned off, no mention of an embargo though.
A sale of the club is also a possibility in the near future.
