 2026/27 expectations

What are your expectations for 2026/27?

The truth is the successful teams generally set the pace early so it absolutely matters what we are doing ‘at the end of August, October or Christmas’. Prizes won’t be given out but messages can most definitely be sent and momentum gained. I want to see us go out all guns blazing and I think listening to Ramsey he wants an instant connection between the team and the fans and you won’t get that with sustainable, slow growth, culminating in a mad scramble around March/April.

This is football under an exciting new regime, not a bloody political party mapping out their next four years in office.

I'd like us to be there or thereabouts by the end of the season with something to play for till the last day. And a nice tie in one of the cups.

But we could easily struggle as well, nothing is a given and we have a rookie manager with a quiet window so far.

My expectations are that the fans are given good football by players who fight for the shirt, and in turn give the new boss time while creating a good atmosphere despite certain games being not exactly the hot ticket. And I also expect good news on the stadium, which is much more important in the long term.

Appointing two seemingly inexperienced and unknowledgeable people to senior management positions, and then appointing a seemingly inexperienced manager / ex pro to lead us.

For what it's worth I do think Ramsey is a risk worth taking - but ultimately he is a risk, so I'm not going to be surprised if the risk doesn't pay off.

Also concerns me that people are backing Harris - if that's an attitude shared at the club then we won't be anywhere close to the top of the league.
 
I'm feeling stupidly positive and I think top two is possible but play-offs minimum. We have a much stronger squad now then we had when we got promoted. Leicester and Wednesday (the two biggest clubs down there) have big rebuild jobs going on. It doesn't mean they wont do well but it's a hell of a job to do (especially Leicester).

As a aside, Bromley will be fine. Michael Cheek is getting on a bit but they have a very clear way of playing and everyone in the team knows their role and what they need to do. They wont go down.

You're first two points are spot on. I do worry about the board side of things but lets see where it goes.

On Harris, he's done a job in League One before but I do see him as a squad player next season but challenging for the striker spot. Prelec could be decent but I'd want us to strengthen here.

Based purely on goals scored it would appear that he did a job last time out, but having watched him singlehandedly drop multiple b*****s throughout that season, it's clear he wasn't putting enough gilt-edged chances away.



This is the one which immediately comes to mind (the first highlight is classic Harris) but there were so many throughout the campaign. An unbelievably frustrating watch, and an upgrade two years later is an absolute must.
 
I've heard we've unceremoniously sacked both of the Shorts and Nick Meace to pave the way for Ramsey's staff. Unsurprisingly, one of them is Gunter, sounds like another will be Ryland Morgans.

If true, those staff changes will cost a few quid and I think we can expect Thohir to splash the cash on the playing budget too. I don't think Ramsey can afford a slow start. Regardless of expectations on here, I think the hierarchy at the club are expecting an instant return.

Heard the same about the Shorts, but hasn't heard anything about Nick Meace, Lewis Price or Chris Hackett.

Craig and Chris Short in particular are great guys and very popular throughout the club. But I also think that its time for a complete fresh start on the coaching front, and its been fairly unusual that we've had so many managers over the last couple of years but kept others in post.

I agree that the board have high expectations and I think that will be reflected in which players stay and who we bring in.
 
I feel I could write another eulogy about Chris and Craig Short like I did about Mick. Again, both lovely blokes and I'm especially fond of Chris because he was one of the few to reach out to me after I was made redundant, and not just a WhatsApp message but am actual phone call. I hope they're both okay and am sure they'll both land on their feet

Where did you hear about Morgans?

I'd read he was part of Ramsey's team at Cardiff, where I think he works at the university, but is there more to it than that?

Fitness and conditioning coach at Liverpool for 4 years. Head of Performance at Palace and Everton. Worked with the Wales squad for a long time.

He'd give a bit of weight to the 'elite habits' chat.

I think Price is staying, likely because he played a few games for Wales with Ramsey. I'm not sure about Hackett.

So maybe the club’s support for Craig has started to waver. Probably not surprising with recent changes in the club’s hierarchy, but a shame nonetheless.

Price and Hackett are both in the latest pics/vids from the club. Beano helping with training also. No sign of the Shorts though.
