No. I expect a fast start given the players we currently have, the wholesale changes made and the genius in our dugout that we’ve gone to great lengths for.

Thats what comes with managing a club that has somewhere to be and the resource to do it. You don’t get to fumble it for a season no matter who you are.

Top 2 with the safety net/grey area of play offs if two sides are just too good. Anything outside top 6 is failure.

Of course, what any of us expect, predict or want is totally irrelevant to what will actually happen, so all this is just a bit of harmless inane fun really. Anyone who takes it seriously probably needs to lighten up a bit

Wouldn't you say that's already happened twice this summer? How high up the hierarchy are you suggesting?

I think we will finish between 6th and tenth. Sneak into the playoffs best case.

There are some very strong teams, lots of money being spent, and obviously Ramsey is a total unknown.

With a lack of recruitment head plus a lack of coaching staff it doesn’t feel like we are heading into preseason in optimal position.

Depends who we sell. If we keep all our better players, and make 3-4 decent signings, this squad is absolutely capable of going straight back up. Easy to forget the huge gap between L1 and Championship. Cumming, Spencer, Helik, Currie, McDonnell, Brannagan, Mills- they will all be very strong at this level. BdK could be the standout player in the division. Prelec, Emaku and Jin-Woo could do very well- even Harris will be half decent. I would think/hope that we will reject pretty much any offer for one of our better players. Our owners aren't mucking about- and with a £200M or so investment coming up, they won't want to stay in L1. No idea if Ramsey will be any good- but we're about to find out! It's the hope that kills you etc...

I tend to agree and would add Goodrham too who could easily be a stand out player at L1 level. The squad looks strong at the moment.

For me if we finish around the top six and work starts on the new stadium then I would be very happy.

I would hope and expect us to “do a Cardiff” and really take the relegation as an opportunity to reset, change philosophy and being incredibly aggressive in the way we play.

The lack of leadership, gaslighting from higher ups, and appointment of a novice coach all points to us being the Plymouth of last year, though.

Last season showed brannagan and BDK can’t play together, the dynamic doesn’t work in a 2.

I think playoffs should be a minimum but context is important. Not sure many will share this view but I'd take a year of consolidation to shift our playing, transfer etc strategy to ensure that we are more ready for promotion. We should be able to both at the same time however, the squad is good enough.

I assume you know a lot about the other 23 squads in this league?

I'm on the more positive side of life but even for me it is a bit or stretch to say Mills, Currie & Cumming are the best players in their positions in the league.

Currie was the best left back when he was at Orient, so a year of champ experience is only gonna make him better. Cumming and Mills both easily championship players and both have been very good at the level prior to getting champ experience

I seriously think that a number of Oxford supporters need to reel in their expectations. Being positive is all well and good, and I largely am a glass-half-full type, but we have a rookie manager and are in competition with a number of other decent (for the level) sides. We may well have a great season, but "romp" the league? I mean, come on.
