It’s funny to me that a couple of people on here were suggesting that this defence will struggle next season and we’re going to let in 2-3 goals a game etc. Going from what we saw under Manning when he took over and now this game, the defence will be absolutely fine, it’s more that we’re not going to score many goals! Plenty of 0-0s to come maybe…

We are still at the stage of just getting players fit and getting players playing together and on the same wave length.

I listened on Radio Oxford, and would say I think Liam Manning will certainly have something to think about with regards to this evening. I'm glad it was a tight game - better than spanking teams and not learning anything, although I say that with zero authority as a football professional, just a fan.

Yes. It isn’t just pre season is it. It’s the same faults and issues as we had last season and we know how that ended up.

None of them are a CDM though Steve, not trying to argue for the sake of it but gorrin is the only one who is and he’s probably a month or two from fitness and could just as easily break down again.

Square pegs in round holes again. None of those mentioned are proper out and out CDM’s. Gorrin just isn’t going to make it back and be good enough for a side with League One promotion aspirations.

I‘m not especially worried about the score line in pre season matches, and it’s early days still as we build up, but the point is we need quality players playing in their best positions, and not trying to make do with stop gaps, as this then also takes them away from where they would be far more effective.

Watkins, from what I saw tonight. Will not be good enough. It’s a player to fill a gap if we sign him, not improve the squad. We signed enough of them last season.

Only O'Donkor and Harris maybe can play in the central striker role, all the others is square pegs in round holes.
