And striker and debatably a CDM, so that's 40% of the outfield position, proving his point.

I am bored of the merry go round on here for now, let's get three points tomorrow and have a great weekend all.

I think we are all pretty happy with Taylor aren’t we? So yes, we need a striker to compete with him, but we are not in ‘desperate need’ of a striker. It’s not like we’re gonna have to play Ciaron Brown there tomorrow.

I’d like a CDM, but again we have one actual defensive midfielder, and another who seems to be playing there at the moment (even though I’m not happy about it)

We need players, it’s obvious, but the constant catastrophising of the situation is tiresome.

Problem is tho if Taylor gets injured what do we do then

Browne up top
Bodin at CAM
Murphy and Jones (Wildschut when he’s back) out wide
Is Browne really a striker or isit he can do a job but is doing a job good enough because if that's the case long can do a job at fullback Mcguane can do a job CDM don't you actually need players to play in position they actually good at not just good at doing a job

Look we all know KR is looking for a striker. In the short term we would cope. If we get to the end of the window without a quality striker to give us options that would be a worry but in the meantime...chill....

Oh I'm chilled I'm quite happy today TBH I just hope Taylor doesn't get injured

McGuane can do more than a job at CDM. I’ll say this until I’m blue in the face, he’s been a fookin’ revelation in that deeper role! It’s going to take someone special to take that position off of him.

Is Browne a striker? No. Does he possess all of the attributes to do well there? Yes. Browne up top, poses an entirely different threat to Taylor and Baldock. I’m not suggesting we don’t sign a striker, but I would absolutely not be against seeing Browne play up top, with someone like Bodin sat behind him as a false 9 / CAM.

You see that's a good constructive response not somebody telling you to chill 🙃 I also think Mcguane has been like a new signing in that position I was thinking to myself If s**t hit the fan could henry play as a striker ( now I know that is somebody just doing a job) but he scores goals

That deeper role is a completely different position depending on your opposition. Against lower sides, or at home when you're dominating possession, Mcguane will thrive, constantly getting on the ball with time and space to dictate the play.

Against top sides I would prefer a specialist defensive midfielder. Has Mcguane got the hard work rate, tough tackling and disciplined positioning, marking and covering in his game yet? I'm not so sure.

Between McGuane and Gorrin we have all bases covered, surely?

On reflection Gorrin’s new contract perhaps isn’t the good news we thought it was given the reliability factor he’s missing. There’s clearly a lack of confidence among us that he’ll ever be fit but he is the player we want…

For me, we need to see how we are at the end of August. If both are fully fit, leave it until January.

Haha after some of my replies to certain folk on here, I’m really in no position to advise anyone to chill! I’m a massive McGuane fan, and after having witnessed his performance against Derby, I think he’s currently our best performing player. I think shite would have to well and truly hit the fan for Henry to be our backup striker. The absolute chaos on this forum would make it worth it though [emoji28]

I’m pretty sure McGuane was MOTM against Derby? The same Derby that have been tipped, by many on this forum, to P**s this league?

Who’s to say he isn’t going to become a specialist CDM? He’s certainly convincing me that he’s more than capable of excelling in that role! Until he has an absolute stinker, I’m against the idea of us spending money/using a loan on someone that MIGHT be better than him. We also have Lewis Bate, who is known for his doggedness and his willingness to get stuck in.

For me, McGuane has already shown me that he’s a FAR better player than Gorrin. The only reason I would get a CDM in would be for backup. Gorrin is miles off of it, and I know that he’s coming back from a serious injury, but he looked awful against Derby.

Regarding CDM, could Golding be trained to play there as a second position? He's young so could adapt, and as a CB he can surely tackle? His passing against Doncaster was very good I thought, he could pick out long passes like Liam Kelly. The best of Kelly and Gorrin, would make a fantastic CDM.

That is a f*****g outrageous statement based off one game at Derby away.

He's being trained to be a RB/CB I think CDM might be to much

McGuane hasn’t just played one game for us though, has he? Gorrin can’t PLAY football. He is good at breaking up the play, but when it comes to advancing the play, picking a pass and playing with the ball at his feet, he’s seriously lacking. If Gorrin gets booked early on (which is often) he’s unable to play his game, and we might as well be down to 10 men.

McGuane has been quality out wide, quality in CM, and now he’s making that CDM role his own.

I hope Gorrin comes back stronger than ever, but for me, right now, McGuane is miles better.
