Huge game for both sides.

The Valley has been a happy hunting ground for us in recent times, strangely I feel that will continue today.

0-2, a rare clean sheet, with the foreign legion of BDK, Romeny, Kastev and Prelec all impacting the game positively.

COYY.

Off to Charlton alone as my son didn’t want to come and my school friend Charlton fan who I was going to have lunch with before now has been roped into a family event. So can anyone recommend a pub to meet others in Yellow before? SLO on X is not posting advice!

Sorry - from reading previous threads I realise it’s the Southwark Tavern or Shipwright Arms. Or anywhere on Tooley Street. All interestingly well away from Charlton itself. Which I have a memory from my last visit in 1993 as a 16 year old as being something of a sh&t hole

It’s all gentrified now. You won’t be able to move for Gail’s bakeries.

Is it me or should the title of this thread be Match Day Thread or something similar?

Mods! 😭🤣🤪

Prediction- 3-1 away win and a dog on the pitch during the build up to our 3rd goal.

Feels must win today, appreciate its probably not, but feels a long way back if we lose.
I want to see Mills and Currie start regardless of formation. Currie is the best LB or LWB and mills can create chances outside and showed against Ipswich his ability to track back.

Hopefully the team will be more up for the scrap today than the small section of the fan base intent on incessant sulking and griping - even loudly choosing shopping trips over engaging with a mid season battle in the Championship smh. Get behind the lads today ~ a vocal away support at The Valley can be impactful. Win or lose, up the U’s.

That Swansea result last night did us no favours at all. Already some gaps opening up ponts-wise, whereas this stage last season there seemed to be more trams closer together.

Hate to say it, and I usually steer well clear of the phrase, but I think we need a win today to get things back somewhere close to on track.

Any chance Cam is fit for this?

I had a quick look at their forum and they're not overly confident. It seems like their midfield is the weak area so hopefully we can have a big game from BDK.

Teams round us seem to be picking up points so a huge game today.

No chance last thing I heard sounded liek
New year at best,

Huge game today. For me, it's do or die for Rowett. If he can muster a performance that isn't passive and negative and plays to our strengths, I'll be happy to see him continue.

I really like Rowett as a personality and I do want it to work out, but if we get more of the same from our trips to Norwich and Swansea then I think it really will be time for some fresh ideas and enthusiasm, and to see who else can try to get the better quality we now have going forward to gel consistently.

I want to see a back four that includes Davies and Currie, Mills starting RW and Krastev in the AM role. If that means Goodrham needs to start LW then that's ok, but really I'd love for Placheta to be fit to start there and have a right good go at them. I'd go with Lankshear up top to start and see if he can get on the end of some deliveries from Mills. I also hope we've got a plan to get BDK in that De Bruyne-type role bending crosses in behind the Charlton CBs.

Feeling positive for this. 2-1 away win.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't go out and attack Charlton today - bar to two Wednesday games, this'll be as close to playing a League One side as we'll get in the Championship this season. Charlton are sinking like a stone, so if we don't win here (coupled with our other poor results) then we don't deserve to be in this division

Bringing the Mrs for a rare away trip for her today (sweetened the deal with a stop off at that bald instagrammer guy’s Xmas Christmas market - I’m so full of cinnamon roll now 🤣).

This just feels MASSVE. I am a definite point-hugger, particularly away from home, but this really does feel like one we HAVE to go for the win. I don’t mind a bit of Rowett-ball pragmatism, but at a certain point I do think we will need to attack the game and not just fall back into our passive bad habits. COYY! 💛💙
