Interesting half. Very difficult pitch to play any football on but oxford still trying. As the game opens up second half the attacking down the flanks will be critical and we have the pace and ability on these very average gillingham full backs. Browne in the last 20 minutes could murder their tiring legs.
The game is really niggly but for once that is in our favor as whilst we lead it’s killing the game. We are slowing it down nicely and the ref is veering towards supporting gills on 50/50s since Fosu pretended he was injured and gills are very lucky not to have a couple more yellows.
Eastwood distribution much faster than usual and also more tactically aware given the high press from Gills. A couple of fast long kicks to the front three mean gills need to be careful with that strategy. He struggled with a couple of high balls but it looks like the sun may be a factor. Won’t be second half for him.
Long has really struggled with the pitch , passing and ball skills way more than any other player. Needs to tighten it up .
