We're more or less going to get outsung by Plymouth anyway, they bring a loud mob and it isn't a big game for us that will bring in more people. Conversely, the situation was similar when we went to Sheffield Wednesday (though you'd expect their fans to make a bit more noise).

That doesn't make any sense, it's more expensive for travelling supporters! That's what football and live events in general cost. Look back at our gates against Plymouth, we're where you'd expect. We don't quite have the momentum of wins needed to get excitement going, and as said before a lot of people don't like the ground.
Edit: I agree that while the overall attendance is what you'd expect the home end looks sparse and lacks energy - the reasons have been discussed here at length.

The reliance on the game for our "leisure pound" and loyalty will slowly come into focus.

In the lower reaches of the game, there has to be a far better VFM offer.

Having 4,000+ empty seats helps nobody.

Some of our very regular supporters used pre-booked train tickets etc to go & watch South Shields last weekend and might well have found a better matchday experience and a lower cost. 🤷‍♀️

I don't actually think cost has that much to do with it, after all not many people turned up when it was free against Stevenage! Agree it would be good to let kids in free or very cheap.

For the same game 18/19.

Att:7,332

Away:1,285

So should be around 8,000 with the same 6,000 home supporters

A lot of people seem to get tickets at the last minute.
I would imagine that great home crowd will be higher than the Gillingham/ Lincoln games ( and far higher than the Accrington game)
It is one of Plymouths nearest home games and they are top so not surprising they have sold out.

It is a good VFM offer watching our team at the moment though. Don’t you think?

I enjoy it certainly and wouldn't go to Oxford City to save money. The value seems comparable with similarly priced live music events. It's more expensive than the cinema but live things always are.

To be honest, these days, at home, we’d get out sung by a barber shop quartet

I`m looking at the wider view, it's always good watching our team, the opinion on VFM will de different for everyone.
I`m just thinking of how the club could improve the "offer" rather than looking at a kaleidoscope of faded plastic seats with nobody sat in them.
Plenty of other professional clubs do something about it by actively promoting sales but we don`t seem to.

Unless you go to the Curzon on top of the Westgate. Scandalous. Saw the new Bond there last week and it was nearly thirty quid for two tickets. “At least they have a proper bar” I thought to myself, stupidly, before quickly realising that I was about to spend another £15 on two drinks. I’ve been saying that’s the Christmas present used up ever since, and now there’s a standoff over cleaning the bathroom. It has caused me nothing but grief. I wish you hadn’t brought it up to be honest.

I haven’t decided which of the two home games I will attend in the next week. It’ll depend how much I think the boys need firing up. I do like the Plymouth fans, mind. They’re completely insane.

Ah but didn’t someone say a new ground and we will get bigger attendances

I can make both of them ...and shall do too ....especially as I cant make some of the Sat afternoon home games between now and next year

Cinema - 2 people x 3 hours so 6 hours entertainment for £30. £5 an hour.
Football - 2 people x 90 minutes so 3 hours entertainment for £40. £13.33 an hour.

Leisure pound eh?

As a footnote that is chuffing expensive for the pictures, same film was £5 each last Saturday in the Grim North. :)

Listen, you don’t need to tell me that. The same film was £6.38 per ticket a 10 minute walk from the house. Do you think this was my choice? You think I wanted this?!

I understand, you were coerced into a more romantic experience, hope the end result was worth it and you didn`t end up in the room with the HD Porn films on repeat.

Live experiences are always more expensive than recorded ones. And if you are looking at football as just 'entertainment' you're looking in the wrong place - it's never going to be good value for the non-supporter who wants to be mildly entertained by 'watching sport'. You have to be a fan.

I think the trick is to find the sweet spot in the pricing where the crowds and the revenue are optimised. Harder than it sounds. Eg if the prices were halved, we wouldn't suddenly find crowds doubled. It's a conundrum!

Personally I'm a supporter of bigger price differentials and a lower minimum price. But I accept that's not a universal view.

That said, the cinema comparison is a bit apples and pears. Compare to a live gig or concert, if you will, and it's a different story.

Local Comedy Club - 5 comedians 7.30pm - 11pm - £12.
De Montfort Hall - John Lydon - 7.30pm - 10.30pm - £30.
The Musician (small gig venue) - Spear of Destiny - 8pm till 10.30pm - £11.

I`m with you on a bigger price differential and lower minimum to "get them hooked" - works for drug dealers. :ROFLMAO:
