Home Match Day Thread +++ 16/02/2019 OUFC v Peterborough United Matchday Thread +++

We need a magician like Harry Potter to stay up now. If we can't get Potter, can we at least get Dobbie, (the Queen of The South house elf) for next season?

We can raise ourselves for the so called big games. But for a relegation fight. I'm not so sure. Up to Blackpool on Saturday getting so drunk that the result will not hurt till the morning

Whyte 'just' a bang to the head.... should be ok for tues

We laugh at the way other teams forums go into meltdown but some of the hissy fits on here are embarrassing.

We weren't good enough today, but we've played Barnsley, Portsmouth, Sunderland and now Peterborough, all of whom have been top 6 all season, and were not out played by any of them. Even though they won, Peterborough didn't outplay us at all. They just took their chance but were otherwise pretty ordinary.

We knew that January and February had some tough games, but we're largely through them now and have plenty of games left to get the points we need to stay up.

What did he say ?
He basically said that while the situation with the stadium company is at an all time low, the onus and opportunity is there for Tiger and the directors to bring the club together - fans, team and backroom staff all as one - so that even if we do get relegated we can actually come through it in a stronger place. But it feels like Tiger and the directors are failing to show any signs of doing that, the heart and soul is being ripped out of the club and it could take years - long after Tiger has disappeared- to repair the damage.

Right, because we've been beating the teams around us haven't we? It doesn't matter who we play, we just aren't winning. Only one win in the last 10 league games.

And who will score the goals sir ?

I get what you’re saying scotchegg, and I applaud your positivity. I’m glad the club has fans like you to give balance. But I take a step back to look at the big picture, we’re deep in a relegation fight and, as a caller on the radio said, we pretty much have been since day one. 2 wins in 13 isn’t good enough and even if we do avoid relegation, the season has been a massive failure. There’s no way, whatever happens from now until May, that Tiger and Robinson can pat themselves on the back, huge lessons need to be learnt.

Isn’t the point that no matter how well we play, we are not a team capable of carving out results.

Inability to score + liability defense = relegation fodder.

It’s reasonable to panic now. We are not ten games in we are almost into March and we’ll placed for league two.

It took us 16 years to bounce back last time

The issue is, ScotchEgg, this is a reoccurring problem. Wimbledon and Wycombe away come to mind. We were comfortably ‘better’ against both of those sides but impotent up front and they didn’t have to be good to generate points from us.

The tough games we’ve done well. The middle of the road teams are worrying through as our record against them is increasingly getting worse. If teams spoil games or hard press - as is their right to - we have no answers.

It’s not the defeat today that hurts. It’s the nature of it. It looked on paper as a big opportunity. Posh shithoused their way to a win that they earned through upsetting any rhythm, disguised falling over and taking their key chance. When do we do that?

I need some of your happy juice please Scotchegg. Were rocketing to relegation but you keep on fiddling like the violinist on the titanic.

Thanks for synopsis - yes and a lot of common sense too - Tiger is definitely not the man to unite us and carry us forward, mainly because he has no idea how to do so - he has been shafted by DE every bit as much as we have - looks like we may encounter our former chairman next season too
