14/03/2026 - MDT: Oxford United v Charlton Athletic

We’ve been rubbish but we’re not losing at half time.

Would take Emakhu off either for Jin-woo or Harris — either offers so much more on the left wing.

I struggle to see what he’s really good at. He’s not rapid, he’s not an amazing dribbler, he’s not strong, and he’s not a high-intensity presser. He seems a bit like a Jack of all trades, but that’s not what we need right now

Doubt MPH has played the number of games, he has recently at this standard. And it showed midweek .
Woo was the man to replace him midweek, but we look like we need MPH out there now

Well, this is a bit different. A call back to the League Two days!

I can actually see why Charlton are doing OK this year.....they are really strong and uncompromising all over the pitch. No quality at all but they are as tough to break down as anyone I've seen this year. Though we could have down with a ref that blows up for everything, rather than the whistle swallower that we've drawn.

We need to shift our game a little bit to counter them I think. Less hoofing, try and keep some better possession. For that, I think Woo would be a better bet than Emakhu second half.

Doubt we're going to see more than one goal this game, so let's go out there and nick it!!

A draw would be a good result on the back of wed night, but I think Prelec, Jinwoo, and Spencer can give us the energy required.
I would do Jin for Emakhu at half time and then prelec on the hour for Donley.

Poor half.

Emakhu’s shite, looks like he’s gonna be an expensive flop, useless with the ball, no football brain at all, and seems slow as f**k as well.
Get him off and put Woo on.

They’re passing around with more certainty and speed than we are, we’re losing possession as soon as we get hold of the ball, like we have been for the majority of the season, let’s not fall back into that trap please boys!

Mills is consistently too deep, must be a tactical thing, as they’re good going forward down their left side, but he needs to start getting forward to receive the ball further up the pitch, and pin their full back into their own half more.

Gotta get the ball moving around the pitch quicker and more decisively, and look to make something happen 2nd half, if want the win.

So to sum up: We need more possession and to attack more, and Emakhu’s poo, we want Woo!

What an awful watch! Not unlike a L1 relegation fight let alone the championship. No quality anywhere to be seen from either side.

0-0 is about the only positive from that as we’ve been dreadful vs recent games. We’re a flick-on away from conceding and a long way from scoring, it feels like.

Emakhu is not a guy for this season. Maybe someone we can develop but right now he’s a mile off it. I’d rather Jin-Woo get a chance or even Roosken who looked a decent enough footballer to give us some crosses, at least. Placheta would be better or could even put McDonnell on, win the midfield and add some life that way. Either way, Emakhu is a total passenger and now’s not the time for them.

More of the same runs a big risk. Charlton don’t look anything to fear but playing like a side who know a draw is plenty good enough. Bloomfield needs to twist first here imo.

Won this and I believe we can stay up. The team look knackered and we’re having to use some of our squad depth. Haven’t won a game in those circumstances all season.
Agree, these are the really tough games to win when you're knackered physically and mentally. If we can pull out a performance in the second half it will be season defining.

Emakhu has to be replaced

Emakhu must be better than what he has shown so far. There is not one redeeming feature to his game.

Why does every Sky Sports + commentator have to point out our missing fourth stand as if anybody who doesn't know is watching the game?

There’s an argument to swap Currie with Spencer as we did at Preston too. Currie hasn’t been great on the ball, and is also getting muscled around quite a lot during their corners/long throws. Another frustrating half from Emakhu too. But to counter that I thought Konak was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Echo everyone else’s thoughts beyond that. Low on quality half. Low percentage football, the way both teams are clearly set up to play. It’s quite perversely fascinating watching a game where neither team particularly wants the ball, both want it take an eternity restarting the ball from dead, and are as concerned niggling and fouling each other as they are trying to play. Pleased we kept it at 0-0. All of their games are tight. We just have to make sure if a chance does fall our way, we bury it.

What's everyones issue the stats are amazing 🤣.

Hey still in it , in fact we're the only ones to have a shot!

The TV highlights were not highlights 🤣

Managed to get an internet connection on board our flight but, it's appallingly slow and no good for streaming. Relying on Footmob for any sort of commentary. Sounds like Charlton are no push over.

Emakhu did ok at Stoke ,lets hope he's better if not give him 10 mins and off ,it might be a Harris sort of battling game I don't think Woo would get anything out of Ramsey at right back he's a strong lad. But come on best 45 mins this season.
