Sorry, that's not the point. Going up, gets you the money to build again even if you come straight back down. Watch Luton, and Wycombe when they come down next season. The money will keep them challenging for a long time to come. That's why in matters not a jot if we are ready to go up or not.
In all honesty I l know it don’t matter I know we were ready I know fine margins I’m just so pissed off we bottled are chance it’s unbelievable how close we were and then that lot turned up to okay for us tonight and bottled it they didn’t look like the oufc we’ve been supporting all season

We could take the positives out of this, say we can add to the team and come back stronger. But we all know this team will be stripped and sold to the biggest bigger. We missed Baptiste big time in these 3 games. Bit of luck against pompey to even get here and the luck ran out tonight.

Emotions are running high, and everyone will be rightly gutted. But we've had to play in circumstances which are always much harder for a footballing side than one that plays more directly. It was hard to get up to full fitness, and even harder to get the sharpness that we need. Actoss the 3 games Henry and Taylor offered little, Brannagan struggled to get control of the game and Eastwood has made far too many errors. But you can count on 1 hand the errors they'd made during the normal season.

We need to rest, regroup and go again whenever the season starts up. It is sickening to come so close, but let's not start turning on the players and manager who have given us a fantastic season.
Yeah this is fair - I think I've been guilty of having a kneejerk reaction a bit. The game was played in exceptional circumstances and our players were never going to be at the technical or physical levels we have come to expect (and that they need to be at for our system to be effective). Easy for us to say 'Brannagan has gone missing' when we're sat on a sofa and he's being asked to run a Playoff Final off the back of nearly 4 months sat on a sofa himself!

Also L1 is a complete nightmare next season.

That was a nightmare result for Sunderland, Ipswich, Pompey, and Peterborough, because we are more of a threat than what Wycombe would be.

Also the three coming down, and maybe a dark horse like Gillingham or Doncaster. Lge 1 will be very competitive next season. I look forward to it!

We weren't good enough on the day.

Henry not shooting, Browne not closing down, Moore ducking out of it, Eastwood rush of blood. Yeah the Wycombe bloke was offside but we made enough individual mistakes to not win that game, and the team performance was disjointed throughout too.

Don't want any of our players hung out to dry though, they've given us a great season overall.

I said to myself 3/4 months ago that I'd take watching football in any form, let alone my beloved Oxford.

Already looking forward to going again next year 💪
