I’ve had to miss plenty of games myself, but I’ve never thought anyone would care what I thought about the atmosphere when I did.
No one said you couldn’t have an opinion. I said voicing criticism of efforts you won’t contribute to stops me putting great weight on the value of your criticism. My post was me saying I hope the crowd can get behind the team and keep the singing going for a full 90 minutes rather than just 10 minutes in a pretty important home game. I didn't realise we could only have an opinion if we went to the game.
If you want to criticise the efforts of the fans that do go to Southampton, you’re free to do that, but if you slag off an atmosphere you won’t help to improve then I won’t worry about what you think. Atmosphere isn’t someone else’s job.I can't make the Southampton game, but I still hope we take a strong and vocal following and create an amazing atmosphere for the lads.
Not sure why there is an issue with saying that?
So where are you getting the idea there was only 10 minutes of singing? It was there from start to finish. As others have said probably one of the best this season. My post was me saying I hope the crowd can get behind the team and keep the singing going for a full 90 minutes rather than just 10 minutes in a pretty important home game. I’ve no idea what game you and @Kamal were watching but the eaststand was full of noise on. WednesdayExactly this. Worst atmosphere of the season for me, bar those last ten minutes.
Please could you highlight which bit of my post I criticised anyone? My post was to say that I hope the fans can do what they did in the last 10 minutes the other night for the whole game tomorrow. No one said you couldn’t have an opinion. I said voicing criticism of efforts you won’t contribute to stops me putting great weight on the value of your criticism.
The fans did not only sing for ten minutes. The post you quoted reserved special praise for the final ten minutes when the players needed us most, and you’ve interpreted that in the most negative way.

Ah, that old dressing room atmosphere of wintergreen cream and last night's beer. In the days when we wore proper shin pads, or a rolled up copy of the Sporting Life tucked down the socks. There's always odd moments in the SSU.....
Along with the smell.... there's always the smell. Can only be described as a heady mix of soup, werthers and embrocation (look it up, kids)![]()
I was talking to Steve and you responded to that, so my comments were in the context of his criticism of the fans efforts on Wednesday. This is the most bizarre response.
Maybe we have our wires crossed, maybe you haven't seen some of my earlier posts? or perhaps I should have said, I have no doubt we will be taking a strong and vocal following to cheer on the lads.
I do not recall I have been critical of our support, ever, unless it is of people that feel its okay to slate the players and ridicule our performances from the stands
I will leave it there as I fear I am getting into some odd argument in which I have no wish to participate and one that I had no intention of creating.
Enjoy Southampton and believe me, if I could have gone, I would have, except I will not be in the UK.
Sure. Please could you highlight which bit of my post I criticised anyone? My post was to say that I hope the fans can do what they did in the last 10 minutes the other night for the whole game tomorrow.
Let’s hope on Saturday they can do it for 80 more minutes![]()
No I didn’tSure.
You said “I hope the crowd can get behind the team and keep the singing going for a full 90 minutes rather than just 10 minutes”.
We did get behind the boys for 90 minutes on Wednesday. Acting like we didn’t is a needless criticism and doesn’t help anyone.
I'm a fan of Prelec but thought it was a strange performance from him.Atmos was great.
I was in the North Stand and everyone seemed up for it. No needle or noise from Blackburn as I could hear- and if they had given something back we would have gone up another level too, I think.
Lots of support for individual players when they were in front of us (apart from the lads next to me who nearly passed out with their anger towards Prelec, which was fair/warranted on this occasion... and I'm a fan of his)
OopsNo I didn’t![]()

My original post was the one you first replied too and implied I was being negative. I wasn’t. I do stand by my original point. I do hope they can keep the atmosphere up which was created for 10 minutes, for the full 90 on Saturday.Oops
To be fair, we don't know what he was told to doI'm a fan of Prelec but thought it was a strange performance from him.
And the second post was you saying what you said in the first post. It began “my post was me saying”. I think we’ve pretty much exhausted this now. I hope that those who go on Saturday and make a noise don’t come back to criticism of their efforts from fellow supporters. My original post was the one you first replied too and implied I was being negative. It did seem odd that after one of the most emotional build ups, and one of the biggest wins of the season people focussed on the noise from the crowd. And the second post was you saying what you said in the first post. To be fair, he’s got his contract now . Anyway, well off the pace when he came on.To be fair, we don't know what he was told to do
I am amazed anybody is suggesting that thd fans sang for 10 minutes. So where are you getting the idea there was only 10 minutes of singing? It was there from start to finish. As others have said probably one of the best this season.
Considering we had the life sucked out of us for the last few months I'm glad it's coming back. Just at the right time too.
Exactly. To be fair, we don't know what he was told to do
As I said in a previous post he was in his own yo front chasing a lost cause with the ball passed between 3 defenders and the keeper as the rest of the team were making sure we would nullify any attacking threats so as to more serve our lead.I'm a fan of Prelec but thought it was a strange performance from him.

So what did Bloomfield say to him if you’re sat that close? Why are people trotting out this ridiculous theory about Prelec and his instructions ? Trust me, I'm seated not too far away from Bloomfield and he was imploring Prelec to chase and close down quicker. This is a cop out trying to defend him. In that case, if a full back doesn't push up, a midfielder doesn't leave the centre circle and a forward just ambles around the final third does that mean we shouldn't be able to criticise because we are unsure what his instructions were ? What a load of absolute b*llocks. I'm no manager but I've seen enough football to know that what Prelec was - or more like wasn't - doing was never the instructions from Bloomfield in a million years. Show me a manager, 1 up, 15 to go who tells his forward to do a gentle trot towards defenders, no real intent of making a challenge but just make sure you hold position !!! Come on, who believes this nonsense !!!. If that was the case then Lankshear defied his managers instructions from the first minute !! Some fans don't half dream up some ridiculous theories.
Exactly this. People who sit in the SSL criticising the atmosphere FFSAtmosphere isn’t someone else’s job.
