On paper we should win but Derby got a good point Saturday and there will be a bit of an extra spring in their step with a new manager in waiting and the opportunity to build on the point at Norwich. Another hard fought, perfectly acceptable, 0-0.

Just like us Derby will be looking at the games they can get 3 points from.
This will be close to top of that list.
They won’t have a new manager but looks like they may have one for the next game.

Can see them winning this 1 or 2-0 I’m afraid, with Yates on the scoresheet.

Hoping it’s not the case and we can put in a Milwall away type performance or Stoke away but take our chances.
Away from home we don’t score many so one is never enough unless our defence and Cumming are exceptional we will concede.

In away games Leigh doesn’t get forward as much so that means our main goal scoring threat is nullified

Unfortunately agree with this. Hopefully I am
Wrong, but feel we need to play better than recent games to get something from this.

Reading your posts you would think we were bottom with one win from ten games.

Just a horrible 1-0 win please ,and a grind to the 50 pts we will need to stay up. That will be one massive achievement and better than Leeds or Sheffield United going up . It's a different league and we have so far played our part ,Gary Rowetts yellow and blue army

I don’t think on paper we ‘should’ win any away game at this level - I think most teams in the league have a good home record (not checked my facts there). We certainly can win and I hated the lack of belief around here early in the season as we’re more than capable and we’ve proven that now. But this is, much like Plymouth away, a very difficult game and the stakes being so high will only add to the difficulty level. Derby will want this with a noisy crowd behind them so we need to want it much more but stay calm early in the game. If we need to hang on a bit, then hang on.

I think it’ll be a good game of football to watch, end to end, scrappy and full of mistakes (I like those kinds of contests!) and it’ll come down to who can keep their head and take the chances when they come. I’d argue they have the better players for that up top, so I wonder whether we might see a back 3 tonight with Long planted in alongside Helik and Brown. I wouldn’t be against that on the proviso Long is not left to defend the flank alone as it was carnage against Burnley.

We should be very confident we can win, but I’m a bit guarded against any ‘should’ or ‘must’ as that’s the kind of mindset that can spiral in to pressure we don’t need. We know we aren’t safe yet so let’s believe without expecting.

I’m going for a very nervy 2-2. Helik and Matos.

These posts were always coming.

Suddenly, Derby are now a force of nature and since the sacking of Warne they have by all accounts by our fans woke up and smelt the relegation cocained lined coffee!

Derby, whatever circumstances they find themselves atm would've always been with or without Warne a tough-ish Tuesday night away, but winnable.

If GR and the 11 block out the white noise and the several hundred away fans give the correct support tonight we should come back with something.

However, fold and the pressure then pushes on to Saturday.

Ffs, if you haven't got a ticket for tonight please if you are a casual reading this buy one of 200 that's left for Saturday. This football club needs your support to get over the line as quick as possible.

I’m a realist who has been supporting the Yellows for 60 years.
That has made me a glass half full supporter.
Just think that at the start of this campaign we would struggle to stay up, nothing has changed.
What GR has done has given me hope, but away from home we are not good and the trouble with that is it puts pressure on the home games.
Things change so quickly in this league our winning one win in 15 under Des became a winning/ drawing streak for nine games. We could go on another losing run and it’s very very difficult.
Hope we win both the next two games because if we do that is very much securing our future in this division

I would hate to see you when you are being glass half empty :ROFLMAO:

Eustace not announced yet. Maybe contract negotiations will drag on.
If anyone on the forum is able to leak a story to the local Derby rag at about 3pm saying it's all fallen through with Eustace, that'd be handy.

But new manager or not, they're still plenty of points behind us, still plenty of games without a win, and any confidence the players and fans have from an impending managerial announcement will be fragile at best. Nick an early goal or even keep them at bay for half an hour, and the fans will soon grow restless and start grumbling.

I doubt it'll be a pretty game, but it's one we're very capable of getting points from if we perform.

Predicted line-up:

Cumming
Kioso Helik Brown Leigh
Vaulks Brannagan
Placheta Rodrigues Dembele
Bradshaw

Does have the air of an important fixture tonight for both teams.
As with a fair few of fans, feeling a bit pessimistic even though the table and form book would say otherwise.
We can win this, there's no doubt, and if we play our game, we will.
I'm looking forward to this one!

The next two matches we need to get at least 4 points hopefully 6.. Anything less & it's back to squeaky bum time.
The championship is so tight this year nobody is safe from relegation from about 12th position, down to 24th. No easy matches now it's getting close, to the nitty gritty part of the season . Bottom teams scrapping for points & survival & top teams fighting for points & promotion/ playoffs. We need to stand strong & don't slip up too much.
If people think Derby & Portsmouth are a given 6 points because they are below us, is totally the wrong thing to think.
Don't underestimate no one ..
Onwards and upwards 🤘💛💙👍

According to the Derby forum we have a weaker side than them…

But given that they literally haven’t won a single game yet in 2025, and that a win against us would be their first in TEN games (including tonight) then you have to say a loss for us would be a very disappointing result.

Cumming
Kioso Helik Brown Leigh
Brannagan Matos
Placheta Goodrham Dembele
Romeny
1-2 Oxford. Or 1-1.

Either way we can’t / won’t / shouldn’t lose tonight…

Win for us. No walk over but a fair reflection on performance. Derby are not suddenly a different team, they are the same squad that has struggled in recent times. No reason for us to show anything more than the normal respect for the opposition. If every OUFC player performs to their abilities, then we shall win.

Its certainly to our advantage how the rest of the bottom half of the championship over rates themselves and under rates us, 31 games into the season and they are somehow better than us despite the gap in between the two teams.

They don't have a manager, they are in s**t form and even our own fans are making them out to be something they are not, the perception overtakes the reality because of the name.

2-0 win for us tonight in one of our easiest away games of the season.

I have also been supporting the Yellows for 60 years and, in my considered opinion, after reading your posts, you are by no means a glass half full supporter. Or if you are, then I'm brimming over!

1-1 draw.

If we can keep them quiet for 20/25 minutes there will be a growing air of anxiety from the home fans. They will absolutely expect to beat us tonight and will see this game as pivotal to their survival hopes.

I'd take a point, if we could guarantee beating Pompey on Saturday. 4 points from the week would be great.
