Away Match Day Thread 09/12/2025 - MDT: Blackburn Rovers V OUFC

Thought we looked a lot brighter in last few mins with Tyler and Romney on. If we play that formation would like to see someone who is better on the ball than M Harris.

I have been in the GR camp for a while but I have turned tonight. I think we have decent footballers but he doesn't believe it and/or can only play one way.

Too many games passing by now where if we had been braver we should have had 3 points.

WLWLWL is much better than DDDLD and the latter feels much more likely under GR

Drawing our way to survival!
At least that seems to be the grand plan.

We come out for the second half and are immediately swimming again, two great chances for them not taken. So we take off one of only two creative players in HTA and replace him with Sam Long, who seemed to forget which colours we were playing in. Leigh had a shocker so that was fine on paper, compounded only by Currie having an even worse game there. And to top it off Lankshear (admittedly ineffective) off for...Bradshaw? What in the world?

And then of course we invite pressure on. Helik drops us in it and they score.

Now what?

Ah, let's go back to the creative angle and bring some pace on. Great idea Gary. And then we start relieving the pressure that we should have done 30 minutes previously.

Blackburn were absolutely there to beat tonight. And we completely f*cked it.

The reason? Look no further than our manager.

Not good enough. We were poor, they were poorer. I agree that Lankshear could/should have come off, but to bring Bradshaw on is a joke.

We’ve tried to hold on to a 0-1 lead, created far too much pressure for ourselves, begun to drop deep and it’s a matter of time.

To then have Harris slowing the game down so two mildly effective substitutes in Goodrham and Romeny only get 10 mins is equally as sh!t.

At a goal up just before half time, that’s a game we could, and should have gone on to try and score again. They were just as sh!t as we were.

I could almost accept the Swansea score because I think they’re better than their position currently has them. Blackburn look utterly useless.

I’d have probably taken a point beforehand. But not having seen how poor they are.

Has to be three points now on Saturday.

Actually thought Bradshaw was okay for a few minutes, won a few headers he had absolutely no right to win. But yeah, pretty ineffectual after that and the chance to play Goodrham in just smashed it off the pitch.
The problem is Bradshaw has been nowhere near the team for months and then gets thrown on in that situation. His legs are gone and he’s miles of being match ready.

What the hell is happening with Prelec? It just looks like muddled thinking.

And I’m calling it now. Romeny does not have the fitness, strength, pace or physicality to ever cut it at Championship level.

We’re grinding out results but could be in the bottom three if Pompey win their game in hand. Worried out Bradshaw getting in the team and Tyler and Oli are late into action. Desperately need a win

Sigh. Point gained and I’d have taken that. But how often have we blown 1-0 leads this season?!

Brown and Cumming were superb. Davies was really good too. I’d keep that system for Saturday personally.

I’d never select Bradshaw ever again either…

Agree - the system is the best fit for the players we have.

But the first round of substitutions was utter nonsense. Bradshaw is both completely out of practise, and looks like his legs have completely gone (for this level at least) so all those subs did was completely nullify our chances of getting out, releasing the pressure and catching them on the break. It was almost like GR decided we should just try and defend our box for half an hour, but inevitably something fell their way.

The second round of substitutions was exactly what should have happened the first time - injected some physicality (Romeny) and some energy (Tyler) and whilst they looked a bit clumsy at times, they at least gave Blackburn something to think about and created some half openings. But by that point, 3 points had already turned into 1.

Sigh.
I suppose we're a point further away from the relegation zone, and a point closer to Charlton (who seem to have been found out), but boy was that an opportunity missed.

The next two (Preston at home, and Charlton away) are utterly crucial for us, and for GR methinks.

Cummings MoTM by a mile. Brown, scored one, saved one. BdK ok second half. And that was it. The lack of championship quality across the pitch is for all to see. January can't come soon enough.

Who does?

We are limping towards the bottom 3 ,by the end of January we will sadly be on the bottom 3 and not coming out at this rate. And Prelec not on weird he's obviously off in January that can be the only explanation, because Bradshaw on is even weirder.

Pompey need to decide to stick or twist. Wonder who has tge most decisive board.

Will Still is out of work.
I don’t know who I’d want but I know I don’t want to watch this on repeat.

Enough is enough, Ferguson said himself they are disappointed to not be higher up the table, well it’s time for them to put their money where their mouth is.

We are going down unless a change is made.

Of course Ferguson said that. Because he's the one who fucked up the transfer window and pre season

Before kick off I'd have taken a point so ok with a point. The penalty was just one of those and unfortunately Ciaron Brown may have got it if the ball hadn't hit Currie's arm.

Turgid to watch again times but not a surprise. Another point towards safety.

Some cracking saves by Cumming. Particularly the one when it was 0-0.

Laughed at the crying over our goal by the other Burnley. It was not a foul by Gregly and it was hardly a long delay (1 or 2 seconds) for the head injury.
