I'm not sure #temporarilybiggerthanfranchise is a worthy replacement for #teamslikeoxford

Just enjoy the moment, who thought, back in the 80s when were in the top flight and winning a cup, that one day we would temporarily be bigger than a fourth division team with no real achievements that didn't even exist. Truly halcyon days.

As this is likely Shorts last game in charge (at least for a while), why would he not put a strong team out? Over a week till our next fixture, we could do with a win, little cup run would help lift the gloom etc. put our strongest team out for me.

I’d keep BDK rested for this as another game off will help him come back firing like he used to when the Championship returns.

Perfect game to play Brannagan though.

Rest a fit player who has had some time off and won't be needed for another week but start a player coming back from injury who hasn't had any minutes in a long time and who was only likely to be on the bench a few days ago? That seems a bigger gamble to me.

Ideally we would have enough midfielders to rest both but we don't seem keen on signing anyone to play there.

Need to go for it and put our foot down on the accelerator - might have some MPH off the bench if not starting just yet?

We’re playing Mkdons, from league two.

True, but they might actually have to announce the correct crowd this time, rather than count 5,000 people who have never even been to the stadium.
Definitely as we get a share of the gate money.

Can a player coming back from injury not aggravate against a league two team then?

Brannagan came back to training about 2 weeks ago. He missed the Sheff Utd game because of postponement and we're now playing against a League Two team in the FA Cup a week later.

It's more sensible to ease him into a game that is likely to be played at a lower intensity, than a full Championship fixture.

No player should need a rest unless they are carrying an injury. 8 days since the last game. Training wouldn't have been heavy this week and they are young fit professionals!!
A decent win would boost confidence. And a good draw in the next round could bring in some much needed money.

Playing the team I love to hate in a competition I love! Apart from needing a win boost and giving minutes to new/recovering players, let’s give ourselves a mega tie in the next round:

Milton Keynes Dons 1 - Oxford United 3.

Given that BDK had to carry the midfield for an extended period of time in his first season in the championship, he's perfectly entitled to some extra time off.

I think people forget the mental strain it takes players to stay at the top of their game too. It’s not all about physical fitness.
BDK has openly said he isn’t used to so many games in a season so I won’t begrudge him having a couple of weeks off.

If my ticket hasn't arrived in the post do I just go to gate 3 and show the confirmation email?

I agree. Nothing makes me cringe harder than when someone on here who has most likely never played any sport professionally says 'players don't need any time off'.

Weird war mentality.

I don’t see the point in resting anyone tonight, our last game was 1st Jan and our next isn’t until the 17th. I wouldn’t play BDK or Cam for the full 90, but apart from that I don’t think we need to give anyone a break

Apparently that’s a war mentality?

i keep forgetting its an early kick off.
