Away Match Day Thread +++ 07/07/19 PSF: - Glasgow Rangers v OUFC MDT +++

You know sometimes when you're out in unfamiliar surroundings with friends of friends and you sort of think that they've got the joke and everything's fine, but you're also somehow expecting that there'll be a massive fight any second now?

Yeah, that's like conversing with Rangers fans...

The irony of their mutual hatred is that without each other they’d be husks of themselves. Perpetual winners of a minor league.

Think of Rangers and one thinks immediately of Celtic and vice versa.

It’s truly unique. Other famous rivalries all take place in larger and higher profile leagues.

I couldn’t care less if they trained at Reading! And I’d be more mildly puzzled if they trained at Swindon...

Yeah. That's how a normal supporter feels. And I'm sure a lot of Rangers fans don't care that we trained with Celtic. But even if only 2% of their fanbase do, that's still a lot of vitriolic comments that show up on Twitter. And I bet that we have our own 2% (which doesn't include us sensible folk), which would go too far with a response like that.

For reference, see the Oxford Mail website.

1st Half
Eastwood
Sade Mousinho Jones Ruffels
Brannagan Henry Hanson
Napa Lopes Fosu

2nd Half
Stevens
Long Dickie Allardyce Berkoe
Gorrin Sykes Heap
Whyte James Hall

Suspect we will see two teams today and something like this with a balance of youth and first team in each.

prolific goal scorer for oufc u18s last season Kyran Lofthouse may get some game time today ?

If there's absolutely no coverage of this anywhere, frequent tweets or posts on here from those at the match would be greatly appreciated by the rest of us! Thanks :)

With Rangers playing in a European game soon, as the Rangers fan said we may well be up against a 2nd/3rd eleven or academy team. None the less it will be a good test for the small first team squad and the youngsters worryingly suddenly promoted to the first team. We should be looking to win it, and are more than capable of winning, even without the one striker we have not fit enough to play.

The main concern, even though some may not like the truth is that we still haven't replaced all of the talent lost at the end of the season that was a major part of our late season success. Graham, Sinclair, Kashi, Garbett and Brown.

The u23 players that will be involved today, may well now become first team squad members before they have even kick a ball. Three to four weeks to go, before the season starts, so lets hope that gives KR the time to bring in and gel the still missing 5 players.

Oh we will play there first team. They will need some sort of match sharpness before Tuesday. I expect it will be there strongest Xi for the first half and then a full switch at half time.
