Away Match Day Thread 07/02/2026 - MDT: Coventry City v Oxford United

There is fight left in the team. Now, we need to get discipline and train. Passing was, again poor. We need to find some cohesion in midfield and how we go about getting the ball into that final third.

For today, well done all, fantastic point. (And, despite some very dubious decisions from all of the officials)

I personally thought Coventry weren't that good and on that showing will be setting for the play offs

The Ref I think he was an embarrassment to his profession he was shite

As for our boys I'm bloody proud of every single one of them they battled today and battled hard against 12 men

You say that but we didn’t start with either him or Lankshear today.

If you’d have offered us a point before the game today I’m sure most of us would have been more than happy with that against the league leaders. Shame we were up against 12 men for most of the game. We’ve had some poor refs this season but I think today’s was taking things to another level. I hope his performance today is scrutinised and is addressed accordingly
Have absolutely no doubt the EFL will assess that game and say "horrible Oxford were very mean to Sir Frank Lampard and the referee and frankly it's just not on".

Both bookings for Lankshear were just so silly. First he protested in the face of the ref, just can't do that anymore. Second, he was just plain stupid. Didn't need to as the ball fell kindly anyway but, to so clearly barge into a player with no sign of going for the ball was always going to be a foul.

He needs to calm down and get discipline back into his mantra.

I agree about Lankashear not arguing as you will more than likely be booked but the problem I have with this is the inconsistency with refs every game we’ve played the opposition have been in the face of the ref not just the captain

Lankshears 2nd was a yellow, great tackle and should make the lions on that alone
The first was poor, with a ref who doesnt understand forward play.. it’s suggested that Ciaron Brown was lucky not to be sent off.
Lankshear played the ball to MPH, resulting in a similar situation as Brown and Wright.
Ref saw both in coventrys favour, but Lankshear had a point

Have to be pleased with a point away at high-flying Frank Lampard’s Coventry.

Shame the ref was in awe of them but we hung on against 12 men and a solid fighting mentality to build on.

Can’t wait till Tuesday, I’ll be there.

Bloomfield interview was excellent and I agree with him on the Brown scenario totally.

Was surprised when he called the ref a prick like I did.

It's not the first time we've seen some inconsistency with this particular ref. What is really galling is the lack of any, apparent, advice from the assistants and in particular today, the fourth official.
