It’s about 35 games since Wednesday won so it would certainly be among the stranger things to have happened, 17 losses in the last 18 games as well. Unfortunately they are just making up the numbers, barely in the league.
Im not a mathematician but I do wonder if having a proverbial punchbag in the division this year is going to skew the points needed for survival. It pretty much gives every team a guaranteed 6 points. Could we see two teams going down with 50+ points?

This is so much more than a 6 pointer. Loose and i will say our season is over. Draw and we will need to win 3 remaining games which i think will be too much.

The counter that view, and considering how well we played against a good Hull side on Friday, I'd say that all three remaining home games are winnable.

Not Portsmouth though. They lost at home to them.

I can see at least one going down with 50+, yes. Virtually everybody started on +3-6 pts. I think one of us or Pompey (embarrassingly given your point) are going to sink with points in the region of 46/47 which is why tomorrow is so mega. 7 more points from 5 games is a lot prettier than needing minimum 10, but more likely 12 from 5 which is where we’d be with a loss tomorrow.

Portsmouth go to Boro next weekend, then host Ipswich before what could be a decisive tie against Leicester. We want to be above them for that stretch especially with a dream home run-in game to come on Saturday. If we can go 5 clear of them this week then I think that’s one less spot to worry about.

Pompey are the only team to lose to them, which could well see them relegated if they go down by a margin of less than 3 points so you have a point.

Certainly since December, when they have only take a single point, having them in the league has maybe skewed it as they appear to have given up, even with other stragglers in the past the bad run has maybe not been this severe.

This is where I start to overthink things.. Ipswich have a massive local derby the Saturday before Pompey which will take a lot out of them. Pompey will be playing them at a very good time.

There's never been punch bag like Wednesday this season. Ignoring the points deduction they'd finish on 14 'earned' points at current PPG of 0.3. The previous lowest was Rotherham in 2016/17 on 23 points when Blackburn went down on 51 points. It does slightly increase the chances of a higher than average total being required.

That PPG is probably too high as well, they have fallen off a cliff in the last twenty games.

Got a feeling 51 points will be needed for safety. Can see one team going down with 50.

Vital that we keep their fans quiet for the first 15 minutes. If we can survive an early onslaught they could get frustrated and turn.

I.dont get all this GR anger. Sorry but he did a good job and without him we wouldn't be a championship team this season, as let down in summer what whatever reasons.

I don't think Leics will survive because the chatter is of huge dissention in the club re his attitude and style ( well you knew that when you employed him) versus the ex prem players who think they are above this ( even tho they got them in a relegation battle)

He cost us quite a few points this season by throwing in the towel but then had the cheek to go on a podcast saying 'he would have kept us up' after being sacked. He didn't believe in the players and couldn't inspire a tea party if we're being honest.

Boring, outdated head coach that will hopefully take Leicester down.
