Missing this, QPR and Leeds for a nice holiday...hoping that I miss some epic performances/atmospheres to rival the end of last season to get us over the line.

...a decent draw (or win?!) would give us so much belief...but their recent results suggest they will happily settle for a narrow victory and its hard to see any other result unfortunately.

If we play with anything remotely like the lethargy we displayed at theirs then it could become very messy with our goal difference seriously affected. It was one of that batch of games that questions began about Des's ability to get this lot motivated. Equal worst performance of the season up there - possibly the worst in terms of effort. Sheffield United visibly eased up from about the 50 minute mark, they could tell the game was comfortably won and that we had no desire to even try and get back in it.

That evening was a 100% shambles all round and not helped in the least by Jerome's off the cuff remark the previous Saturday on RO of maybe treating the match as a training game. Because, to me to you, it f*cking well felt like it on the night as Sheffield could've scored a hat-full.

No big fan of CW, but he did our goal difference a favour from being far worse than it is of today.

What were we training to do? Play football with no intensity? We didn't even play well enough for it be useful even as a training exercise.

I was somewhat p*ssed off walking back to the car after that match. I had two difficult and long evening journeys either side of an absolutely pathetic display of lethargy and disorganisation. As has been said, it’s fortunate they eased off after half the game.

Whoever is their best player we need to do what Sam Long did to the Bolton player at Wembley smash him in the first couple of minutes let them know we are here to fight

They are better than us no denying that fact but we need to have more fight and more spirit than them on the day

Yep you know that.
That's why we were so successful them days..
We did have a fantastic team though, they really were excellent, but most of our team are still league 1 the gulf is massive and we still might stay up by the skin of our teeth, fingers crossed 🤞

Think they'll rip us a new one if we're too expansive.
On NTT20 it suggested that Sheffield United love teams that go at them- they pick teams off easily ( even very good teams).
They prefer other teams to have the ball and to attack them.
Not sure we should be playing to their strengths?
To win ( or draw) we will have to take our chances and defend very well/ get a bit of luck.

Yeah, nothing to do with having the best players we've ever had or anything.
Nothing to do with best players ever ,I'm talking about ,guts & pasion & a togetherness.it can get you a long way.
Some players with bolox & grit, shotton & Briggs come to mind. They wasn't exactly Paulo Maldini ....

Really?

So if we'd taken out Hebberd, Houghton, Aldridge, Hamilton, Brock etc, we'd have been just as good?

I think you're wrong.

What ??? I don't really get what your getting at, Hebberd battler run all day, Houghton battler run all day , Hamilton solid battler, Aldridge battler run all day, Brock skilfull battler, Langan 110%battler etc etc .
That's what we need is to fight for survival or to be successful..

Not sure Aldridge ran all day?
A superb finisher, but hardly a battling central forward. I would imagine that Harris runs twice as much as Aldridge ever did ( but Aldridge was van brilliant player)

Chris Hargreaves battled. Andy Whing battled.

They're weren't as good at football as Hebberd or Houghton. That's the difference.

I imagine Barrow battle. It’s not a sure fire recipe for success in the championship

Your still not getting it. This team don't.
I'd rather go down or stay up with a team of battlers ,good enough or not...

You're right, I absolutely 100% don't get it.
Yep ,all I said was a must win, a battling passionate survival performance etc etc . Then answered to a reply & it turned into the players are not good enough. I know that & don't really care about that.
I want to see some blood & guts if you know what I mean 🤕.🤣.
