Ref watch

We will all take a draw now ,if only it was that easy ,toughest game for a while ,can we score can we battle out a point .Let's hope so and then a decent rest ready then for 2 massive games which I think will define the season.

We will certainly have a result, be amazed if it’s one we are happy with. Much as I’d love a point, Burnley should have far too much for us at home.. Horrible feeling the run will end this evening, Feel a bit like Kip as I write this, but not at all hopeful.
Please don't access your inner Kip. You won't like it

Burnley have not scored at home since 21st December and have just signed two forwards close to £10 million.
They have been playing good football but just can’t score.

Yo know how we have this horrible habit of ending clubs losing/scoring streaks, I’m afraid to say I think we will be beaten 2/3 nil tonight.
It won’t be an abject performance like we saw at Sunderland,Sheffield Utd and Leeds I feel they will be too good for us.We got away with it when we played them at home.

Our only hope is that our defence play exceptionally well and Cumming has a blinder but I feel we will concede and not be able to reply

A bit more enthusiasm needed around here! I'm going for a surprise win. 1-0 to the Yellows. Might not be a pretty watch but a strong, resolute and steadfast defence, goal coming from a break out counter attack.

Sorry Manor, I usually hope we can get something from most away games, but feel this is one that will be as tough as Leeds, Sheffield Utd and Sunderland.

A few weeks ago, pre-Rowett, I would probably have agreed. However, recently, I've started to think we have got our act together and, with a prevailing wind, have got real prospects of turning over some of those "nailed on" promotion contenders.

Now, where's my medication . . . .

every game in the Championship is a hard one. Im quietly confident Oxford United are capable of getting a battling win, and confounding the sky pundits who wrote us off before a ball was kicked this season. As it seems some of our own supporters have for tonights game too. Its what happens over 90+ minutes later this evening, not the previous f*****g stats. Its 11 championship players against 11 championship players. Hard fought, hard earned away win 1-2, TG and a late Bran pen

The top 4 are miles clear of anyone else in this league. This is our last trip to one of them this season. I hope we use it as a chance to rotate and see what Bradshaw, Matos and Romeny can do in a tough environment. They’ve only conceded 9 goals all season.

Next Tuesday is far more important, but we could take a bit of pressure off that game if we nick a result tonight.

This.
I don’t think we’ll ever get into this game, and I’m not sure we have the ability to score.
Not defeatist; realistic.
Happy to have this comment thrown back at me later this evening.

Absolutely not!

We don't have a game for ten days after this one, so should go there all guns blazing, as there's plenty of recovery time. I'm not travelling to Burnley and back to see a shadow squad get humped!!!

Win all day long first, followed by the draw if the need arise - but above all a GR inspired determined attempt.

I (car of five) was one of the pissed off souls who witnessed the Sunderland, Sheff Utd and Leeds debacle's and I'm hoping GR has this in mind for the long trip and day ahead as it cannot be any fun too for the players to get their arses kicked all the way back down the M6 tonight.

However, a little reminder to the team bus - you probably won't get a Tony Martinez welcome from me in the service station afterwards if you cave in so easily tonight Grrrr lol.

COYY'S.

Looking for a bit of fight more than anything tbh. The way we absolutely folded against Leeds, Sheffield and Sunderland without so much as a whimper is what was most concerning, as opposed to coming away empty handed. No shape, no clue, no plan. Sheffield in particular put three past us and then didn’t even need a gear to keep us at bay - they were on clutch control for most of that match and we still didn’t offer anything. The manner of those defeats is the reason Gary Rowett has a job, so there should be an expectation that we will compete at a minimum.

It’s not about what’s coming up, it’s about what they’ve just done. We’ve played eight games in a month and I thought it showed on Saturday. I’d like to see Rowett freshen it up and maybe take a couple of gambles that we wouldn’t if it was Derby tonight.

So Matos for Ruben to give us a more robust midfield. Romeny and Bradshaw to keep the press up. Hardly a shadow squad.

I'm interested to see the team tonight. If ever there was a game to potentially change things, this might be it. Unsure how I'll feel about that until/unless it happens.

I presume the fact that we don't play again until next Tuesday means Rowett will be more likely to go with a broadly similar side to the one that lined up against Bristol City, presuming that's what thinks is his strongest.

I think the back 7 picks itself at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Tyler come into the 10 and Bradshaw come in for Harris.

Cumming
Kioso Helik Brown Leigh
Vaulks Brannagan
Placheta Goodrham Dembele
Bradshaw

Slight risk is that that's quite a lightweight front four, but I'd expect this to be a more technical game than it was on Saturday, and I think Tyler could really help bring the best out of the wingers and Bradshaw.

Whilst they haven't scored at home in a while, by the same token they're also due to concede as they've kept clean sheets in their last 8 games.

There's no way Rowett's going up there to fold like a pack of cards and it's another opportunity to put a point or three on the board. Unlike Sheffield United and Leeds, we go there unbeaten in 9 league games and full of confidence. Of course it's going to be hard and we'll probably have to suffer a bit, but it is absolutely possible to go up there and get a result, as many other teams have proved so far.

0-2 - Dembele to finally get off the mark.

Obviously a very difficult game against one of the top four but GR is known for his solidity and I'm sure he won't collapse like a pack of cards tonight:

Burnley 0 - Oxford United 0.

Then we have a week to prepare for the demolition of Derby!
Reading their forum another 0-0 is a no no for them they need a win and are fed up with pragmatic play. Hopefully they open themselves up abit and we can catch them on the break a win against a top team would do wonders for our morale. Having said all that would take a 0-0 right now. Every point is precious at this stage especially away.

Its only a week, we play Derby next Tuesday.
Oh, yeah, of course, but the point still stands.

Also to all those wanting an experimental line up tonight ( this isn't necessarily aimed at you @Jaboysmith ) I presume you'll all be sat in the warm on your sofas, rather than have to face the long trek back down the M6 if we get pumped?

I've got to watch it from my sofa tonight and I'll be frustrated by an experimental line-up and wasting 2 hours of my life in the comfort of my home, let alone travelling all the way up there for it.

Portsmouth have proved there's no guarantee writing tough away games off means you're then going to pick up the points you need in easier home games. For all we know, tonight could be the night Burnley put in a rotter of a performance and we need to be able to take advantage if they do.

Relying on the 'winnable' games puts an awful lot of pressure on them and we're absolutely capable of a result tonight if we apply ourselves. Hope you get a Rowett masterclass that your and everyone else's efforts in going up there deserve.
