pretty sure the players will be relishing the prospect of a game played without pressure, and in a celebratory environment after 45 high-pressure, high stakes matches this season.

I'd expect players who've been managing injuries to be rested, so that probably rules out Cam and Helik. I also think it's an ideal opportunity to include players like Griffiths and Snowdon in a match day squad to both give them a feel for that, but also to see how they react to stepping up to the first team squad on a match day.

I wonder if players like McEachran, who surely must be off in the summer, will be given the chance for a final hurrah or whether Rowett isn't built quite so sentimentally?

I'm not sure how much experimentation there'll be with quite a bit of churn likely over the summer; I just don't know how much value there would be in it in a one-off game.

If it was Championship Manager, I'd go with:

Cumming
Ter Avest Moore Nelson Leigh
Vaulks Matos
Marselino Rodrigues Goodrham
Harris

Mills and Romeny for Marselino and Rodrigues at H/T
Long for Moore on 60 minutes (Long takes the armband)
Bennett and Snowdon for Leigh and Harris on 75 minutes

Didn't know that. Back to the drawing board... :ROFLMAO:
Yes not Helik

Do they have a say in the matter?

I know you can have clauses where a player can't play against his parent club, but you can't recall a player between transfer windows and I didn't think that you could (legally) dictate which games a loanee at another club could or couldn't play?

They might ask us not to play him, and we might p**s them off if we do.....but, y'know, hell with them, really. We'll be competing with them next year so we don't need their goodwill. I'd like to see Nelson in yellow one more time.
Reputation is important if we want to bring in loan players in the future. How we look after and respect the player and their parent club. I would expect there to be constant communication on how the player is developing and our plans. And I would listen to the views of Leicester on Ben Nelson as much as I would expect Orient to listen to us regarding Jack Currie.
They might want him to have game time, or he might benefit R&R after a serious injury.
Three EPL clubs have trusted us with valuable assets this season. Reputations are hard to earn and easy to lose.

You’re bang on here.

The difference in prize money for finishing 14th rather than 20th will not be insignificant to a club that’s losing £10’s of millions a year, too.

Also, from a personal perspective I’ve not spent £30 on a ticket and another £40 in train travel to see us turn it in, for the sake of satisfying the Indonesian ‘supporters’ amongst us.

We’re a professional football club who’ve had a great year. End it the right way and do everything we can to win the game, by playing the players who are fit and available, that will give us the best chance.

Snowden and Marselino for the bench, with a view to getting them on later IF the game situation allows it.
There is no difference in the prize money for your finishing position in the championship.

I’d give Ingram a game. I also fully expect Bennett to play if he’s fit, as it’ll probably be his farewell appearance.

With respect, that is clearly the comment of someone who might be bothered to turn the telly on and watch it. Those of us travelling significant distances might hope a little more thought goes in to selection.

If being a top 30 club means picking players based on shirt sales rather than ability, count me out.

(This is not to say I don't want to see Marselino - I'd be quite intrigued having witnessed his few minutes at Exeter. But only if the coaches think he's up to it - not for the Insta clicks 'n' giggles.)

That is a perfectly reasonable opinion, and one that I'm not too far off sharing myself.

But the majority on here seem to want to continue to see the club progress up the league and maybe fight to go up to the next one. And in the current footballing landscape, with profit and sustainability rules and the like, revenue is king. Revenue determines how much you can spend, and therefore the quality of players you can sign. Our owners' deep pockets have enabled us to bridge the gap to the lower midtable Championship sides, but we will likely be pushing very close to the P&S limits as it is. We can't compete with the top half Championship sides in terms of player recruitment unless we find a way to substantially grow our revenues, and the Triangle won't be enough.

Thanks to a couple of pointers on here, I've been reading more about Wrexham. They have a similar sized ground to us, and similar matchday revenues. But when they were in League Two, their overall revenues were already above average for a Championship club; by next season, they may already be generating revenues to rival any Championship club without parachute payments. How have they done it? Because their owners are very canny businessmen, and they've managed to turn them into America's team. They sell more shirts than any other EFL team. Their commercial revenues in League Two were more than our total revenues when we were in League One.

They have America, we have Indonesia.

I'm not saying we have to go the route of becoming Indonesia's team - just saying that if we don't, and if we don't work out how to monetize that properly, then we're pretty much hitting our financial ceiling. It will take a miraculous piece of underdog on-the-pitch management to push on much further from where we are now.

But if we want to play in Top 30 financial waters......then Indonesia is the way, and Marselino on Saturday is the next logical step.

No way, Cumming has played every league game and deserves to complete the programme- what an achievement !

We should certainly approach the game professionally and do our best to win but it sounds like some players may be rested and I hope Rowett is a bit creative with his lineup, or at least his subs. The game will be a celebration and it’s good to see a young player or two getting their chance.

I don’t care who plays…I will be a cooked breakfast and 6 pints of moretti down by kick off and then I will spend 96 minutes bouncing around like a chimp on ecstasy….letting out countless nauseating football farts, and chanting enthusiastically. Afterwards, I will continue until the early hours of Sunday morning, laying like a rotten carcass in my hotel bed before getting myself back to the shire in bits.

That's all fair enough. Without our current owners we are nothing (or at least deep in the brown stuff until they deliver us a stadium). I'm not aware of Wrexham selecting matchday XIs based on their target audience though. But I may be wrong.

At least Marselino is more deserving of a game than Emiliano Diaz ever was...

“Sounds like some players may be rested”
Who told you this (outside this forum)?

You realise it’s 12.30 ko yeah?

Yeah, probably not - Wrexham just went for the emotive documentary segments about hard-up fans instead.

Not sure the Indonesian market is going to be as interested in that......they just want to see Lino play!

I don’t see Rowett as the kind of manager that gets all soppy and lets promising youth team players have a run out because it’s the last game of the season.
Nor do I expect players carrying a ‘bit of a knock’ to say no thanks I won’t play today so I can have a bit of a rest…they can have a rest after Saturday, until preseason on July 1st…
I expect to see only changes that he has to make because of significant injuries.
Win the game, end the season on a high note.

I have absolutely no idea why.
Because Cumming is our most valuable asset and there’s every chance he’ll be gone in the summer methinks. Giving Ingram a chance to see what he can do in a league game in front of a big, vociferous crowd makes sense.

I think Cumming has to play and I'd assume he'd want to. To play every minute of a 46 game Championship season would be a great achievement. His possibly leaving in the summer, as you know, is pure speculation at this stage. As for Ingram, he has played many games in front of big vociferous crowds during his career to date. He doesn't need to play at Swansea.

That’s the spirit Gregortheox.
None of the intricacies of team structure, player management or tactics for us.
It’s all about getting slaughtered sharting and chugging into porcelain.
It’s doubtful we’ll even know who is playing anyway.
Rowett could pick the binmen and we wouldn’t know or care.😂
We would just assume the hi-vis vests are the new kit.🍺🍻😂
Just enjoy it everyone. We made it.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
