They’ve paid their money, they can do what they want.

What has it got to do with you or some gobby t**t at the back of the stand?

True

But I left the 5-5 draw with Pompey when they scored their fifth and we went 5-2 down.
Never left a game early since then, I have moved seat after 90 minutes to one vacated but that’s just to get away early

Just read through all the posts and what some people tend to forget is that we are now in the Championship.

This is a massive step up and if you look at the other promoted clubs Pompey are doing worse than us and Derby are on a par with us.

Swansea have a squad costing twice as much as ours. They are an established Championship club and know how to compete more effectively and can bring on players who can change a game.

If we had a fully fit squad we could compete that much better but we have to realise that this is a huge step up.

Not sure what people were expecting but maybe those wins against Norwich Preston and Stoke and the battling draw with Burnley gave us false hope. But in those games we did have pretty much a whole squad to choose from.

The bickering about certain players needs to stop, especially the back five who I feel have been outstanding whoever has played there including Long, Leigh and Bennett.
The midfield will always struggle without our leader and talisman Cameron Brannagan, it is so unfortunate because he never gets injured( eye injury not a football injury) and plays a full season. We miss him badly.

I wonder if the max exodus after the second goal was mainly new ST holders, since Des came in after a shaky start we had an exceptional end to the season, culminating in the Wembley win. Those new fans have got used to seeing us win but like the rest of us who have been ST holders for donkeys years have to realise that playing FGR Burton and Fleetwood is not the same as playing anyone in this league.

Let’s all take a breath, support the team throughout the 94/5 minutes and I’m sure we can survive this league. I would have been happy with finishing 20th at the start of the season, nothing has changed

Brown was good again yesterday. Back 4 consistently excellent against very good championship forward lines. I don't know what people expect against teams with much bigger budgets. We lost it in the middle of the park yesterday but our options are limited with so many players out. People need to use some perspective.

Unfortunately we stepped it up across the board a bit too late and that's everyone - but agree our options are limited which also tells its own story moving forward in Jan.

Still time to vote for your MOTM, 124 so far.

Also, Hull City Build Up thread open:

Swansea hadn’t scored in 5 games, and are a below average Championship team, our 8th game without a win, with some truly abject performances in that span, we’re also consistently seeing teams outwork us

Yes we’re a small team with a small budget at this level, but we’ve spent money and surely we have to have some expectation about the level of performance we’re giving?

40+ years, maybe 45?

Then me thinks you are exaggerating just a little, or maybe you had previously left too early to witness a mass exodus ;).

Just taken a read of some threads this morning and struggling to find anything that isn't generally a moan....

How quickly the tide turns after a drop in form.

Buck up people, its not all bad. It's become a bit of an acid test this past month but if we were not in the Championship, we wouldn't be able to moan about trying to find some form to stay up, instead we would probably be moaning about failing to pressure for an automatic promotion place in L1 (yet again).

It's still very early days and it was always going to be a slog to the very end.

Looking forward to starting to get things back on track on Tuesday. Its a very tough week on the back of the last few games and a Friday fixture too, but if nothing else, we at least have another International break coming up to perhaps reset after that.

COYY's

You must have forgotten the years leading up to us getting relegated out of the football league or the years we spent in the conference then.

Steve, to be fair we all try to forget that period, without a doubt the unhappiest years of following OUFC.
But we should remember them because it gives us perspective
The KKK year was one of the worst for me. No hope, no enthusiasm no wins
Kassam Kinnear and Kemp absolutely woeful

You’re right, we should remember them and I think that’s why I’m not panicking at the first sign of a bit of a bad run when we are in a league that we haven’t managed to get to in over 20 years.

We need the fans to get behind the team right until the end so hopefully we don’t see 100’s of fans leaving with over 10 minutes to go too many times this season.

Not sure what all the insecure, bed-wetting about fans leaving early is all about. Who really cares? Get a grip. Part-time fans? Surely we’re all PT unless we go to every single game home and away and don’t miss a second.
There are many reasons fans leave early and not all of them football related.
I left when the second goal went in. I’d had a three hour journey in, watched a mostly flat performance with little prospect of a positive outcome. I then had a three hour journey home to look forward to unless I could get away early avoiding the bottleneck over the bridge and traffic congestion out of BBL.
42 years support and counting, most of that as an exile.

I think people are being harsh on Harris for that miss, in equating it with other sitters this season.

Yes, if he's in the groove he scores it, but the ball's coming in fast, he's coming in fast, and he's at full stretch - did well to get anything on it.

Unfortunately I think we're going to have to sit it out until the cavalry return - without wingers or our best midfield combo, we're struggling.

You’re absolutely right Steve, I was there in the dark days of getting annihilated at home by Hayes and Yeading in the same league, it certainly feels less painful getting annihilated at home by Swansea in the same league!

I think you might be pushing it a bit by saying we were annihilated by Swansea Kip 😂

It’s got to change 2 or 3 players are not good enough for the championship, we don’t look like we have a plan if we have no pace on the wing

Nerve well and truly touched.
Get behind the team.

If anyone looks at the shitshow today and last week and thinks Ciaron Brown is in the Top 10 issues then honestly there is no hope.

1. A league 1 strikeforce
2. A league 1 midfield
3. No width
4. No pace
5. Awful passing
6. Dreadful set pieces
7. Boring
8. Predictable
9. Poor tactics
10. Look unfit beyond 70.
You missed Strength, we look weak in midfield and bar the defence are easily outmuscled, I will get shot down here but I wonder if Kioso could be moulded into a defensive midfielder, he is strong and that is probably his best attribute, a leap of faith maybe but whilst without Branners could be worth trying.

We shouldn’t be panicking no, one result shouldn’t mean the worse. But frailties showed yesterday and missing 3 key players doesn’t help. I saw Swansea wide us Narrow them narrow us wide Owen Dale tracking their winger that should have been PL’s job midfield seemed a bit clueless and for what Sparky is capable of didn’t see anything yesterday.
I assume Des will change things for Tuesday as I feel Hull will be a tougher game.

Don’t know what you watch then
To be fair I never know what ‘at this level’ actually means. Brown clearly can do a job at left back ‘at this level’ but arguably he could be our 3rd choice left back in Jan / Feb.

Bennett was first choice at the start of the season and Currie is doing well at Orient and could be recalled in January.

Despite Brown doing OK at left back at times his selection in this position has seemed more of a way of squeezing Moore, Nelson and himself into a back 4 than anything else. Moore is skipper so his place won’t often be under question, Nelson a highly promising loanee centre back who needs game time and is playing well.

I don’t think our team has the right balance with Brown at left back at the moment and think Leigh needs to come in.

I say all that with the caveat that I think Brown has been one of the best signings of recent seasons. He’s tough, durable, rarely injured and a very solid defender. I’m just not sure that he starts at left back for many other Championship teams.

Not at this level
Brown was performing superbly alongside Moore, we were unbeaten at home, and comfortably in the top half of the table, before Des changed things and put him at LB.

We haven't won a game since, but in that time, Brown has been our most consistent performer, again.

But yeah, Brown's the problem

As you say .
If Brown is the problem, then we have a big problem.

I agree about Leigh but I think Brown is a good Centre Back
