Brown shouldn’t be left back it’s unfair on brown to be forced to play left back when he’s been the best centre back for months playing better than Moore
Some of the other players were having a right go at him tonight. Very unlucky.

Agree, he's been brilliant and Des would do well not to P**s him off by playing him left back.
the brown and Moore partnership is what got us to the championship and him putting a loan player over him is confusing browns worth was rising playing centre back but instead we’re playing a loan player who will leave this summer very weird by des

Or we have players that should accept playing where the manager thinks they'll be most effective for the team.

Ciaron Brown has been fantastic wherever he's played, but the moment we worry about pissing him off over the needs of the team is the moment we might as well give up.

Entertainment galore on a sodden pitch.

Luton will finish below us on that evidence. Our midfield kept us it today. Rodrigues is getting more involved, game by game while Tyler was the best player on the pitch, what a gem he is.

Au contraire, that second Luton goal was a shambles. Two men on the goal line and it just whispered in, an ungainly mess.

Every game in this league is a war, great point !

And a shout out to Kioso, great energy, overlappping in stoppage time.

Gold star for Des again, we move the ball so quickly in transition.

Spot on….you play where the manager tells you too.

Only watched the last 20 minutes and it was already 2-2, so I've not seen the goals. It looked fairly even until the sending off, and then we seemed to lose some composure and Luton came at us and could have scored again. Then again we looked dangerous on the break and might have won a penalty, albeit a slightly soft one.

Cumming's save from the header wasn't difficult, but what he did really well was to push the ball away from the danger area. Their big man up front looked a handful, in fact they seemed to have big men everywhere on the pitch.

Coupled with the point against Burnley, who won again tonight, this was a decent draw. A third point away to Pompey would be an ideal return from these three games, and if we can get a win it'll be superb.
I thought you looked a very good side – speaking as a Luton fan – and thought you deserved to win. Your number 19 looked a hell of a player and generally, going forward, I was really impressed. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Sent an arsenal supporting mate the Goodrham goal just now and was struck by the strange feeling of sympathy that for him he will be miserable coming second in the prem again this year and I'm a bit giddy because we outplayed but drew against luton to remain midtable

Anyone got the first (and clear) penalty decision clip? It's not on the 5 minute Sky Highlights (SkyLights?)

This ridiculously negative post reminds me, did you donate that money after you said we'd finish 10th at best last season?

Really good game tonight, could and probably should have won it but you can't get away with some of the mistakes we're making in away games and they went close another couple of times. Thought El Miz miss in the first half was a golden chance and Tyler played a really poor pass when clean through but was my man of the match. Looked a pretty clear penalty and bar a 5/10 minutes spell we were in total control. It's a sign of how far we've come that we get a point away at a team who were in the Premier League last season and feel a bit disappointed.

Nelson had a couple of iffy moments but is really showing some class and gives us another option bringing the ball out, it was a decent pass in the build up to our first as well that forced Kioso forwards. Kioso excellent again and without getting into the age old debate you can see he's a proper full back whereas Brown is a centre back who can sort of Sona job there and will battle gamely, it's no dig at Brown to say that PK was far better again. An interesting dilemma for Des, does he keep Brown out there or bring him back and drop Nelson, who I think will be a real player. If Moore's injury keeps him out then it's a decision for after the break anyway as I'd assume Leigh will come in at left back with Nelson moving to right centre back and Brown on the left.

Edwards an absolute game changer. Unfortunately he'll almost certainly get injured again but he's a class act, I love Dale's endeavour but I just don't think he has the quality to hurt teams at this level whereas Edwards does. Really exciting stuff with players to come back still.
I've just responded to one of your other fans. Speaking as a Luton Fan, I thought you thoroughly deserved to win. A point was really quite unfair. Some of the best attacking football I've seen from a championship side in a long time. Seems peculiar to be in this division together, when it doesn't feel like long ago that we were stuck, battling it out in the Conference!

I still think Moore is our best centre back, although he didn't help Cumming out today for their second. I also think Nelson will be a regular this season at some point, it'll be interesting to see how it comes about.

Leigh being out today made Brown at left back the obvious choice as Nelson in the middle certainly doesn't weaken us and if Moore is out for Saturday (and Leigh is fit) then it makes sense to have a Nelson/Brown partnership.

Disagree with this completely. If we feel we can improve on someone then we should even if they did well last year. The fact it's a loan isn't relevant either really, should we not have played Beadle/Cumming last season? By all means give those who got us up a chance and the extra depth we now have will hopefully keep their performances up but if we're more likely to get a result with different personnel then for it. A lot was made that 9 of the 11 (I think) that started at Wembley started against Norwich but that's quietly changing now as we get a settled team. 4 new signings started today and I think it was 5 on Saturday. Brown certainly deserves the shirt currently but it can't be taken for granted that because he was good last year and has had a really strong start this season that it's his to keep, there's absolutely no room for any complacency and it's a little disrespectful to Nelson.

First half yes , not great at times

From what the commentators were saying, the away end half of the pitch was far worse with the conditions. The penalty area, in particular, was the area of concern for the Officials in the pitch inspection apparently.

Whilst we made errors (the 1st goal in particular) some will be down the conditions. It was noticeable in the 2nd half, it looked a bit easier for us and Luton struggled defensively as well.

Just in. What a bizarre feeling. Would have snapped your hand off for a draw pre-game, but I'm absolutely stunned we haven't won that with the chances we had. Missed some absolute sitters and conceded two of the softest goals I think I've ever seen us concede. Unbelievably frustrating.

Presume most of the key points have been hit elsewhere so just some random thoughts:
  • Incredibly pleased with how solid we look when set at the moment. Saturday and today, when we're set, we never look like conceding. Burnley never had a chance Saturday and Luton wouldn't have scored tonight if we hadn't given them two goals. It's in transition and with the ball at feet that we look vulnerable.
  • I shouldn't be by now, but it seems like every game I'm surprised by just how good Tyler is. Not hyperbole to say I think he might be the best player I've personally ever seen in an Oxford shirt, his close control and speed in small spaces is genuinely unbelievable - a level above even this very high level.
  • Kaminski man of the match. Some frankly unbelievable saves, fair play.
  • Lots will be made of the ref. An atrocious showing, that first pen shout for us clear as day and (for balance) the Brown ripping of the opponent shirt off his back to win us the ball to set up that last break both horrendous. But, having just seen the highlights back, his most egregious moment is surely taking so long to show a red to their player. Gets worse on every viewing, might be one of the worst challenges I've ever seen, certainly live. What was he even thinking about when considering whether that should be a red?!
  • Very surprised by how poor Luton were. I couldn't tell what type of team they were trying to be. Didn't get it into the box enough to be a get-it-wide-and-get-it-in-the-mixer side, which it looked like they could be with the space they found on the wings, and didn't go long often enough to make the most of their physical front man; but didn't try and play anything like a ball-playing side, looked to have no incision or creativity in the middle at all. Once their press tired out in the second half they didn't look to have any more ideas. Thought I heard some boos from their lot at points and I have to say I'm not surprised.
  • Scarlett had his best showing for us so far for me. Mucked in nicely a few times and on another day might have won a pen for some good harrying. Sparky looked shattered, and that one-on-one, while tricky in the conditions, and despite their keeper doing well, really needs to go in. I'm not saying 'drop' by any means, but it might be time to give Scarlett a start and Sparky a bit of rest and opportunity to recharge.
Wonderful watch all told, superb Tuesday night entertainment. Am absolutely loving this league. Bring on the next.

Or our best centre back could start angling for a move away.

Then we sell him for a huge profit and bring in a replacement who wants to play for the club.

I'm not for a moment suggesting that Brown isn't 100% committed or that we should go out of our way to P**s players off. But no one is bigger than the club and if anyone puts their feelings before the needs of the team then they go.
