Hi guys just a little warning about your ref this week aganst Luton. Ive noticed the pic and post of Mr Bell and saying he likes his cards. Im a Doncaster fan . We had him on Saturday. Chesterfield thumped us 3 nil at home. They deserved to beat us. They were better than us but here goes. The ref lost control early doors. The linos were guessing at offsides which infuriated fans, players and coaching staff. We had a player sent off 1st 5 mins of the 2nd half for a 2nd yellow. Kicked the ball into the net after the flag went up for offside. I’ll say it was a late flag and the offside was very very dubious. His first yellow was given walking back to the changing rooms at HT for talking to the ref. Our management team didnt know of any booking. He then missed a few tackles from Chesterfield players which were late and not booked. He then gave them a penalty which was also borderline when our players arm was still in a natural position. He then booked our assistant manager lol. Im starting to laugh now. I actually hope he had a bet on cos surely he cant be this bad. He then sent off another of our players for rubbing heads with their player in their pen area. Chessie player went down like he d been 3 rounds with Mike Tyson. Lino guessed from 60 yards away. Ref not a clue from half way line and out popped the red. Good luck guys. Hope he s on your side against Luton. Try googling his name. Other clubs have some stories on Mr Bell as well
Re the second yellow - very, very stupid from your player who looked around way after the whistle had been blown, saw the offside flag but still kicked the ball away on a booking - what a doughnut.

Also looked a pen to me.

Second red given for an off the ball incident spotted by the Assistant ref, great observation and officials teamwork.

Well done the ref and his team.

Is there a pre-match away pub lined up? I can't see there being quite the animosity of the conference years so hopefully no police escort from the station straight to the ground?
I'd assume not, although there is always an edge with us and them. Last time I went, there were two double decker buses outside the train station and I got put on one with no choice and we were driven around for an hour until exactly 3 pm then dumped at the ground. It was packed on both buses, all filmed etc, seemed way ott.

How the hell did the referee not order a retake of the penalty. The Chesterfield player ran into the box in front of the ref and was nearly level with the penalty spot when the other guy struck the ball and scored.

It's nothing against El Mizouni, he's done very well since coming into the side, but let's not forget, by his own admission, he's a more defensive minded midfielder, who Des is trying to turn into a more forward thinking midfielder, which is great, and he's doing well, but I feel we're missing a bit of the creativity from central midfield that Tyler gives us when he plays there.

I've said it ever since he broke into the first team, that although he's a good option out wide, I genuinely believe Tyler's future lies more as an attacking central midfielder, a bit like Paul Scholes was in his prime, he's a clever little passer of the ball from central positions, and can run with the ball, score from distance, ghost into the box, play through balls, and make runs to get on the end of through balls himself. And he's a clever little finisher.

Tyler's also very good at operating in the space between the lines, and in pockets of space, where he's not afraid to hold onto the ball until a forward pass becomes available, or dribble through the centre of the pitch, which helps us keep the ball in the middle of the pitch, and on the edge of opposition box, and create from central positions as well, either with through balls, one two's, or Tyler himself breaking through.

Mizouni is also very good at holding onto the ball, but it's more for maintaining possession, whereas I just feel we'd get a bit more forward thinking creativity from Tyler, as he's a naturally more attack minded player.

Playing away from home, we'll also need the industrious work rate and defensive support that Dale offers out wide, and I feel starting with Dale out wide, with Tyler in the middle, might enable us to get control of the midfield in such a way that we can get a goal or two, then bring on the likes of Mizouni and Vaulks, in place of players like Rodrigues and Tyler, to allow us to continue to then control the midfield, in a different way and see the game out.

It's not about dropping anyone, but more about utilising the options we have, because at this level, each game will require different approaches and game plans, and with the options we have available in the squad, we're in a fantastic position to take advantage of the players at our disposal, to play different ways, whilst also not becoming predictable with how we'll set up.

Horses for course and that ennit...
Agree with alot of this. I'm not totally convinced by Dale at Champ level i have to say (anyone see when he did 3 stepovers Saturday and got him nowhere...looked a little lower league if I'm honest) but he gives industry and defensive stability and he's never let us down, so I'd probably do the same thing and give El Miz a rest and bring him back for Pompey.
But Des is cleverer than me, so he'll probably pick Sam Long as a false 9 and he'll run the show and bag a brace

I like the idea of-

Vaulks / El Limouszini / Goodrham

Dale / Harris / Dembele

As a set up. Lots of industry, energy and creativity balanced with a bit of bite in Vaulks, Harris and Dale who like to get stuck in. Big physical back 4 behind them. Hostile ground against a recent ex Prem team on a drizzly Tuesday night. Who are on a bad run.

No easy task but be right at it with the press at the right times and turn the ball over in midfield and I fancy it!

On another note, remember getting the escort after the game to the station previously at Luton but not on the way there. Are they still wrong'uns?

Like i said Chesterfield deserved to win. Throughout the game the ref made some strange decisions. Booking our player for very little. Ignoring their player pulling back our winger. Be great to come on here tomorrow or wednesday and youve beaten Luton 5 nil. Them down to 9 and you all think the ref was fabulous. Look at his stats. The guy loves a card and loves to be the centre of attention. He shouldnt be anywhere near football

We have a very good disciplinary record this season and it's something that Des Buckingham has spoken about as being key so we don't lose players to suspension unnecessarily. No kicking the ball away for us :)

The famous 6 yard wall incident happened at Doncaster when we played there. Ref made 6 small steps from the ball and then drew his white foam line - it went quite viral - must be something about that stadium.

Dale will do well to get a start. Off the bench at best. To be fair, he did alright on Saturday but I think we have better permutations, excluding Dale, open to us with the personnel available.

Very Very Interesting levelheaded guys there, Thank you for this. It just shows how Des has got us set up and the fight we have that teams are not now expecting to run us over. But these lads don't see the type to have the blinkers on with the it's only Oxford mentality as they have that themselves with Luton..

Luton outlaws i'snt as crazy as I remembered it last time we were in the same division, disappointing!

Still found the weekly opposition quote to inspire us #teamslikeoxford

"It gives me a warm feeling to know that rag tag outfits like Oxford can still get so far up the leagues, even if it is a flash in the pan"
Does anyone actually know why Luton fans have such a high opinion of their club??

Makes just as much sense if you replace Oxford with Luton in that sentence. Have they forgotten who they are?

Luton’s absentees for tomorrow night:

Tahith Chong - head injury
Amari’i Bell - hamstring
Mads Anderson - hamstring
Carlton Morris - thigh
Shandon Baptiste - hamstring
Daiki Hashioka - calf

Doubt:

Teden Mengi - recurrence of a knee problem.
