Romeny was impressive, but mom by a country mile was Ciaron Briown. He is every week.

Play with that tenacity and fluency every week and we’ll get enough points to stay up. I really think we should play two up top in all matches not involving top 6. We’re a better team on the front foot.

Cov have a tremendous asset in Sakamoto. Bit Bidwell looked like a pub player, we didn’t run at him enough today. Didn’t think they were that awe inspiring. We can, and should, stay up.

Disappointing to hear Rowett say we didn't start well, and we were slow out of the blocks? Isn't that his job if he and 9000 others are seeing the same!

Get your slim backside out of the dug out and inject some f*cking energy into the team if this is the case.

Once again, Mowbray last week and Lampoon this week spent all the match on the sidelines urging their respective sides on whilst GR is bolted in the dug out.

Get yourself out in the daylight man and own your technical area plus your players and we might just take the game to the opposition and not have to keep chasing the game like we are doing atm.

In moments today our attacking play was good but we are not at all streetwise to see a game out or atm manage and this could put our status in jeopardy.

Hope to see you all in Norwich.

COYY'S

Some of my observations:

1. Anyone who called Romeny a board signing, said Rowett didn’t fancy him, said we’d never see him play, etc. Where are you now? Clearly a good player, and yet another example of why we need to give a player a chance before writing them off.

2. Shemmy from the sublime to the ridiculous inside the course of a game. PB for him 😂

3. It’s difficult enough in this league without having to play against 12 every other week. Some of these guys seem to referee us and whoever we’re playing in very different ways. Identical incidents judged differently depending on who’s got the yellow shirt on.

4. The penalty - give everything like that, or don’t give anything like that. But you can’t just give one. He’d been dying for a chance to give them a pen - couldn’t give it quick enough, and didn’t see a single Coventry player actually appeal.

5. Thought we deserved a point, but they just seemed to be able to up it when they needed to.

6. Whatever the result, we saw enough today to give us the confidence that we’re capable of picking up the points we need to stay up.

I'm in such a foul mood (as Mrs QR has just confirmed ☹️).

Kioso giving the ref a sniff to award a penalty and also giving away a completely unnecessary foul (their players had his back to goal 25 yards out) that directly led to their third.

I thought Kioso’s performance today was catastrophically bad. Pulling the Cov player’s shirt at that corner so blatantly should
see him get a bollocking from Rowett.

He was beaten all too easily for me for Coventry’s first although Sakamoto turned Brown inside out before delivering a great ball.
Kioso also allowed Bidwell far too much space to cross for Sakamoto’s winner although somehow the Japanese was left unmarked.

Defensively we look so weak and vulnerable. Expected Cov to be better than that but we threw away what could prove to be a vital point.

On the plus side Romeny looks a class act - excellent feet and ball control.

You thought Brown played well second half? He looked like a centre back playing left back to me.
He is our best best centre back and needs to play there.

I'm giving him a break on the first goal, he was trying to mark two players, with Moore marking one and Helik stood on his own in front of them both.

Poor defending, and probably his job to organise Helik or Moore to pick one of them up, but he was on a hiding to nothing before the ball even got crossed in.

This is mental. Turned inside out for the first goal, got caught out more than once losing the ball in dangerous positions that could have cost us, had loads of room in an attacking sense but the few times he got forwards wasted the delivery and played the ball into touch several times.

He's a very good centre back and should be playing there when everyone is fit but if anyone thinks he was man of the match today I question what he has to do for them to say he's had a bad game. If we keep playing a back four while Leigh and Bennett are out then that's a problem area.

The subs once again killed us today. Dismantling our threat as the game wore on left us completely starved of opportunities in the final 20 minutes. It was a big ask to come back a third time but when you're putting on the likes of Phillips, Mattos and Dembele and taking off the key players in Placheta and Romeny, it significantly weakened us especially off the ball and in the final third. I'm not even sure Mills had the ball at his feet and Placheta could've easily seen out the game.

Thought Moore was on Ellis Simms and Helik on Ephraim Mason-Clark. Kioso was supposed to be marking Rudoni?

Maybe I’m being harsh on Peter Kioso because it was a super cross that Cumming could not come for.

I will have nightmares tonight about Kioso’s performance though - it was so bad in all aspects.

Maybe you're right, I'll need to watch the highlights again, but if that was the case, he was still overloaded as he clearly is inbetween two Cov players.

Kioso also allowed Bidwell far too much space to cross for Sakamoto’s winner although somehow the Japanese was left unmarked.

He switched off. He gave away a slightly cheap free kick, and then took a ten second breather. You can't do that in this league - you need to be up and either stopping the free kick being taken or getting back tight to your man. He did neither, and gave Bidwell an ocean of space from which to pick out a cross.

Everything else he did today was forgivable. The cross for the first should have been cut out at source and he didn't get any help from the CBs (was it me, or was it almost identical to the first they scored against us at their place when Long was left on an island against Wright?). The penalty is an incident that happens five times every game and never gets given.

But the winner was a big mental lapse from him (course the second was an even bigger mental lapse from everyone involved, so unfair to single out Kioso!)

You're playing diving and surrounding the ref at every foul he gave isn't going to help.

Also why did you change your winger who was destroying are left back every time ? what an odd sub
f*****g hell I thought your back room team must have employed Tom Daly

In general, I think I would summarize today as:

1) Diabolical referee. Barely made a correct decision all game, and 80% of the time his random decisions favored Coventry. Not sure if the penalty or the Brannigan booking was the most absurd decision.....but they're arguably the two worst we've seen against us all year.

2) Much better from us going forwards - particularly from Shemmy and Romeny who combined well, and generally looked dangerous. Gives hope for the run-in that we might actually see the occasional goal after all.

3) Horrific defending for all three goals - can't afford to do that against a team with as much attacking talent as Coventry

4) Despite all the above, still hard to argue with the result. They're a really good attacking team - and they should be. They've spent more money on putting that squad together than we will ever be able to spend - even if we do make it to the Triangle - barring a miracle promotion to the PL.

I’d be criticising him exactly the same amount as I am Brannagan - I’d say it’s not an ideal ball by any means, but you’d expect the keeper to deal with it comfortably.

An awful ball? It would be an awful ball if you’re the team attacking, yes, because it’s super easy for the keeper to claim.

That’s a goalkeeping error, pure and simple. Not an ideal ball to be chipping into your own box but 99 times out of 100 the keeper catches it or punches it away then gives you an earful for playing such a stupid ball back into your own box.
You mean the second goal? That was a terrible back pass, didn’t realise it was Cam. Cumming couldn’t handle it, he seemed to be waiting to head it but hesitated.

Agree with some of that but think they are ropey at the back. Even the mighty yellow attacking machine has scored 4times against this season.

There was only one winner today and that was who the Ref wanted to win.

At 2-1 he was absolutely rubbish but it was down to us but after it was down to him. I'm only amazed he didn't find a reason to disallow our 2nd goal. He refereed 2 games today, one where Coventry had leeway and one where we didn't.

I said at half time he'd give them penalty and he'd only book one of their players after 85 minutes.

Even Coventry players looked confused when he gave them the penalty. Nothing happened at that incident that was any different to what happened at every other cross/long throw.

And the Cam Bran booking was just laughable.

I'll add the Assistant Refs were as bad.

Have to say it was my view that it was a stone wall penalty. PK pulled his shirt and then went straight through the back of him. It was right in the vision of the ref too. I thought it was the only thing he got right today.

Except if you looked at the replay on the screen, it wasn't a dive...

That moment of absurdity summed up the surreal nature of the afternoon brilliantly.

Simpson was (presumably) explaining to Cam why he had been booked, with his back to a big screen which was graphically showing how poor the decision was.

Thought Romeny was MOTM, not so sure about Brown today. Played okay, and wasn’t sure if he was in a poor position e.g. not picking up their player for the winner, plus had a good chance to put an easy ball into the box in the last few minutes and only found their first man when we had others in behind!!

Better performance as a team though in the second half, but we've got to start games at home on the front foot.

The first two goals were very poor (couldn’t really see the third very well), we were all over the place at the start with the new defence but recovered quite well. We’ll definitely get some points if we carry on attacking like that, I thought Romeny, Placheta, and Tyler were terrific (Harris was just there).
