    Manager/Coach Des Buckingham

Time and again we have learned playing in League One that the essential ingredient of getting out of it is to have robust players, playing aggressive but fair football on the front foot with the accent on attack and and doing it with pace and energy from the first kick to the last. When we play...

Yes, they will both reach their potential when they’re 50.

Yes, OUFC is probably part of a very sophisticated tax planning scheme by Bakrie et al. Billionaires need to have substantial losses somewhere in their offshore empires.

    Current Player #22 Greg Leigh

Manning knew that. Des doesn’t seem to.

if we start the new season with him still in place, season tickets will plummet. Which is why I suspect he won't be.

Well if the fate of Des gets rid of Williams his tenure won't have been completely in vain.

We lose them all and Des keeps his job

Away Match Day Thread 12/03/24 - L1: Bolton Wanderers v OUFC

I would be happy in that formation to have McGuigan sitting in front of a back 3 in a CDM role, Branagan and Rodrigues in front of him with Murphy and Leigh on the wings. We have to try something to get some forward impetus in to our play and if it's pissing down with rain so much the better as...

Away Match Day Thread 12/03/24 - L1: Bolton Wanderers v OUFC

We need to get on the front foot from the off. I would start with Goodwin and Harris, play Leigh at wing back and get Murphy cutting into the middle more often which is how he got his goal on Saturday. Throw caution to the wind and go s**t or bust.

Away Match Day Thread 12/03/24 - L1: Bolton Wanderers v OUFC

Well, Bolton have injuries to key players and are worried about their game against Derby on Saturday. They won't want anyone else getting injured tonight. If there was ever a chance of our beating them it's tonight. For God's sake, Des, get the boys coming out of the traps from the KO, high...

Then why did we bring him in? Des has got to find a way of playing that best suits the players he’s got. I’m hugely disappointed with the football we’re currently playing whether we win or lose. It’s so pedestrian I’m not surprised the atmosphere at games is somewhat funereal.

And managers too. I understand Des is a lovely guy.

But he's not on the bench, is he?

That's what I don't understand. If all that's being suggested about his disrupted behaviour is correct, why haven't we got rid of him?

    Chris Wilder

I stand corrected, Colin, but even 3 years doesn't make for a level playing field. Isn't it just a reward for failure?

But they will go down with a 5 year parachute payment and attempt to climb back up again. How many clubs in the Championship currently have this unfair advantage?

Agreed. Sounds as if he has issues and needs some help. If so, I hope the club are providing it. Not everybody in any walk of life is fully self sufficient and never struggles to cope.
