    International News Donald Trump πŸŠπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

On a finite tax budget Europe has chosen to spend on healthcare and benefits. The US spends well north of 3% of GDP on defence they spend less tax dollars on welfare and health. Two thirds of NATO doesn't hit that woeful target of 2%...

    International News Donald Trump πŸŠπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The problem with Europe is it doesn't spend enough militarily. Trump was absolutely right if certain countries prefer to spend money on socialism and not a strong defence then to be honest that is a free choice they made and they deserve to live in fear of invasion and it isn't Americas job to...

Ref Watch Modern Referees... I've Had It!!

The problem is the ex players never seem to know the laws. The most tiresome part of pundits is when they show they obviously don't know the laws. You would need to progress up the leagues too. They would be what minimum age 50 before they reach the premier League.

Home Match Day Thread 26/12/23: L1 - OUFC v Cambridge

I'm glad for that result loosing the Northampton game late then winning that one late gets you more points than drawing both bit still sadly shows us for about where I think we are which isn'tid table side not being promoted or relegated.

Well Rosie and much of radio Oxford have such rose tinted glasses he almost seems like the clubs spin doctor.

    EPL VAR

This is the crux. That was always likely to be deemed a penalty in Europe as despite the laws being the same the interpretation is very different between us and Europe. Personally I would remove ambiguity I would make handball any impact with the arm or hand and offside remove the being active...

This is a poor poor performance. Why can't we be physical and cope with these sides.

    European Championships England v Malta/Macedonia

Modern football pundits an commentators who are ex players annoy me no matter how dull and depressing the performance they alway celebrate it. Like they don't want to upset their mates. Never have I seen such a s**t performance praised by both the football and radio pundits.

    European Championships England v Malta/Macedonia

If England can't beat Macedonia then they are really poor. The penalty was harsh and not an obvious error if it had been given I wouldn't have expected it to be overturned. The Maguire one was deffo penalty though

England have been tepid at best today.

Ref Watch Leyton Orient V Oxford United L1 11/11/2023 Declan Bourne

I often wonder what would happen if a player was berated for a poor pass or tackle or shot like referees are for a similar mistake. I think it would be quite entertaining if after Stevens own goal the ref had gone over to suggest improvements in much the same way the players do.

Reading this forum shows how little fans know about officiating and the laws of the game. It is certainly amazing the criticism of the officials who are at least as good as the player they are officiating.

    EPL VAR

Some of those calls are so tight. You could argue we don't need var (we do to stop the clangers) because the officials are so good. Literally centimetres in those decisions at full pace and mostly correct.

    EPL VAR

Massive kudos to the assistant referee in the Tottenham Chelsea match today who called that offside for sons goal correctly by a merest centimeter or two.

    EPL VAR

Another correct decision yesterday for var. Yet still people with vested interests moan. There was no clear and obvious error, no conclusive evidence therefore the Newcastle goal stands.

I was simply saying without knowing the budget we don't know how well we are performing that's all.

Away Match Day Thread 24/10/2023 L1: Wigan Athletic v OUFC

I must admit I despise possession tappy tappy football, statistics show goals get scored with only a few preceding touches. Teams that move the ball quickly forward (some call it long ball) are more effective especially at the slightly shitter end of football we play in (I concede it might work...

What is our budget and is it sustainable? I suspect we spent very big. If our budget was 23rd then 18-19 would be an achievement.

Players at this level make mistakes just like referees. I bet those referees get pretty fed up with the standard of football at this level too. The players are certainly no better than the referees.

Can't players not use common sense and not kick the Ball away?
